People donate time and food and supplies and resources.

Do you realize that some of the people that got their lives back together as a result of the efforts of TLC, actually came back to volunteer to help others?

This is everything that is good about humans taking place here.

The vast majority of people who are in temporary need of help get back on their feet from the help TLC provides.

Believe me, there are many staunch supporters of TLC here at FFXU.

We offer our guests a warm, welcoming environment and services including breakfast, lunch, laundry service, showers, haircuts, pro bon legal counseling, AA and addiction counseling, general healthcare (NP onsite 1 day/wk), bible studies, fellowship, job search help, and much more.

Before William was incarcerated, he was told he needed to enter an alcohol and drug recovery program before his court date. Although William received several one on one counseling sessions at TLC about necessary steps to recovery, he not only failed to enter a recovery program, but also missed his court date.

From behind bars William wrote that he had about six or seven weeks left before completing a recovery program there.

He said he had "never actually looked at alcohol or drug abuse as a disease" and that "threw him for a loop."

William went on to write: "Thank you for all the help and support that you have always given me and other Lamb Center guests, I just could not recognize and would not take hold of the life raft that you were throwing out to save me until I came to jail. Tell others my story and pray they will grab TLC raft to recovery".

Johnny is one of those people with an "attitude of gratitude."
He came to TLC and focused right away on obtaining employment.

Sometimes we think that a person who is unemployed and has lost everything would find it difficult to be grateful.

Often waiting in line for lunch, Johnny talked about how much he appreciated TLC and the volunteers who listen and are so helpful.

With our job counseling support Johnny's efforts resulted in a job at Red, Hot and Blue.

He also has a scholarship at NOVA Community College to study heating and air conditioning.

Johnny's story has motivated other guests to seek job counseling and work hard at getting a job of their own.

Sam has been at TLC off and on for almost four years.

During that time, he went through a number of treatment programs, but he had trouble staying sober and keeping a job.

As a Navy veteran, he had been working with the VA to get into its recovery program, but was unable to do so. He heard about the success another guest, Dave, had with sobriety at a Church Army program in Branson, Missouri and asked if we could send him there.

We did.

After being in Branson for about a month, Sam called to let us know that he is sober and doing very well in his recovery program.

He told us of the fear and tears he had the day he left to go to Missouri.

Even though his fear of change was great, his desire for a change in his life was greater.

For once I appreciate insomnia, and I'm now going to make a handle for you, since you've posted under so many names. Let's see, how about ass clown. Good morning ass clown. As I pointed out to Joe, yes, there are tax deductions available for making donations, and why not as its the end of the fiscal year? Many companies also have matching policies, and the Lamb Center is an organization that I support. There's absolutely nothing unethical on my part, nor have I ever see any at the Lamb Center.

Second of all, you come up with bogus allegations non-stop, but without any proof. We can keep this up, because as you've seen, you've helped the Lamb Center with your bitterness and rage. Donations are up, and more churches and businesses are stepping up to help the homeless there. At the end of the day, its pretty sad that you continue to bash a place non stop, that's probably helping your friends, if you have any for that matter. Although as you can see, its helped, and I applaud you for that.

If this forum has helped you with your anger issues, by at least allowing you to a 1st amendment way rage-a-thon each and every day, then the Underground has served a fine purpose. Like all man-made institutions there is probably some corruption that goes on there and I don’t doubt that there is some element of truth to the stories told in this thread but I’ve also read many personal accounts from people who state that the Lamb Center helped them get back on their feet. Generally speaking their stories are those of people who were down on their luck and/or fighting drugs/alcohol addiction and finally made a decision to seek help and take steps towards becoming independent (like getting a job and putting the bottle down). One thing the Lamb Center cannot do is provide internal motivation get their shit together. I’ve yet to read one Lamb Center success story where the person in question says that they came there and complained all day long until things finally turned around for them.

Are there people who have been involved at the Lamb Center? Yes. Just like other places, all around us. First of all, those out have paid their debt to society. Bottom line. And Dave has been completely forthcoming about his crime, which really is a joke when added up, international phone calls to a lady when he was a young man. Yet he fully admits to it, and was inspired to become more involved with the Lamb Center, due to his sentencing from the criminal justice system. That's pretty rare, and his responsibility for his mistakes, along with his helping so many people, is a God given blessing that everyone should be thankful for.

Second. There will always be homeless people, or even the very rich who try to "game the system" to their advantage. The Lamb Center, or even the CCNV(Creative Center for Non Violence) in DC can't be everywhere every moment, hovering around knowing every single minutiae of what's going on. Sure there are some homeless people that do try to take advantage of everything. Yes. Including lying, stealing, panhandling, being a general pain in the ass. Yet there are others, through alcoholism and addiction(a disease per the DSM Doctors Guide), that are trying to get help. That is what places like the Lamb Center are for. And there have been success stories, quite a few.

Dave The Brain Damaged alchy was warned numerous times that what he was doing was grand theft. He repetatively continued commiting the felony so they rightfully burnt his drunken ass for it. And he did not serve the max prison time for what he did. And nowdays the punishment is not even punishment anymore. It's a walk in the park! Dave has not 'paid his debt' to squat. And favoring profusely criminal substance abusers , lying to the ones donating the funds saying that the lc helps ALL homeless people in need is FRAUDULANTLY CRIMINAL. Dave Be The Liar needs to be totally honest when soliciting donations from the get go, and he simply will not. He needs to tell the donators up front that he focuses on and spends profounds amount of the funds taken in helping the criminal substance abusers and people filing into the lc that are already getting plenty of help thru state aid programs. The small amount of services proclaimed stay jammed up with these types to the point where the place is rendered useless to the good and honest actually homeless ones down on their luck showing up trying to get some real help. During a recent month, the Lamb center welcomed 421 different guests. We served an average of 146 meals daily to our guests.

In our counseling program, we held 21 AA meetings, 46 Bible study discussions, and over 300 one on one life counseling sessions.

In our employment ministry, 138 guests have received employment counseling so far this year and 58 of these guests have obtained employment.

Our staff made 23 visits to churches, schools, places of business and other organizations to acquaint them with the work and needs of the Lamb Center.

The Lamb center Board of Directors continued its efforts to find a suitable location to which the center could expand and improve its services.

Johnny is one of those people with an "attitude of gratitude."

He came to TLC and focused right away on obtaining employment.

Sometimes we think that a person who is unemployed and has lost everything would find it difficult to be grateful.

Often waiting in line for lunch, Johnny talked about how much he appreciated TLC and the volunteers who listen and are so helpful.

With our job counseling support Johnny's efforts resulted in a job at Red, Hot and Blue.

He also has a scholarship at NOVA Community College to study heating and air conditioning.

Johnny's story has motivated other guests to seek job counseling and work hard at getting a job of their own.

Let me ask you something. Its Christmas Time. How about for once, while you have some complaints, and that's fine even if you cannot prove them one iota, name at least three things the Lamb Center does to help people. Some of these, could be your friends, if they put up with the constant complaining, they truly are saints.

As far as I can tell, the Lamb Center and its meager resources, volunteers, and staff do an exceptional job, and there are no criminal nor corrupt activities. To constantly slander them without proof, is akin to "the dog that chases a ball for no reason" every single day. Is it a Christian based program? Yep. Without faith, you don't have substance, without faith, there's no reason to improve. Something to think about.

Since I am obviously on the punished end of what this thread factually details, I have been, as well as others, forced to go to the churches region wide, requesting help, instead. Explaining to them the travesty that goes on and on at the lc, facets and places alike. They help quite generously, acknowledging how they know equivically what goes on, and that this is exactly why they do not contribute to lc, facets or the like, and help ones like me, directly. Food. Clothing. Gift cards. Even cash when they see the truth of it. The fact that good, God fearing, law abiding needy homeless ones like me, as well as others, can not get any real help from places like your lc, facets and alike.
The church staff at a very many churches see, know and confirm same about the wrong going on, and give directly to the ones as detailed. One church is offering to buy me a brand new automobile with an expense account to keep it on the road. Being a senior citizen, they understand that age alone mandates the need for extra help than a, for example, substance abusing under 35 year old that simply never and never will grow up.
Never had a brand new automobile. This is going to be shweet. They are placing a $30k price tag limit on it, and it has to be a reasonably fuel efficient auto. But, hey! It's fantastic! What ultimate, real help could anyone hope for!

If donations are so way up with the lc and such, than why are not the highly limited, restricted so called amenity's declared offered significantly increased. Especially the major, well known fact that the place is way to small. Especially too small to be catering to and coddling the criminal types as so well, evidently depicted within this thread and beyond? Yeah. Where is all the big donation $cash$ going, besides into the pockets of ones like this Dave Be The Liar and the rest running the place? And again, if the $cash$ donations are so way up, then how come no one going there in real, honest need is getting any? And a literally homeless person in need, bottom line, needs gift cards or $cash$ directly to call it real help. Can not haul around food and clothing. If your living in a car, you need direct help with the expense of it. Registration renewal, taxes, gas, repairs. Or, I know, they, while they have it all, a home, auto, etc., you must be broke ass busted down totally living in the woods, illegally, somewhere close to the lc, before they will what? Make you spend all day at the tiny, highly limited amenity's there? And maybe, if you do all the work that needs done there, so they won't have to do the work while they are getting paid very well to do, they might, maybe, might give you a 5$ mcds's gift card to eat at mcshits? And $5 won't even buy a meal anymore at mcshits. And they did not even really give the 5$ gift card to you out of pocket, it was donated! What a scam!
