Landmark Mall

The most ghetto mall in NoVA.

Even more so than Springfield.

(As a lifelong resident of Alexandria, I disagree heartily with the above assessment. Springfield Mall has been plagued by gang violence and carjackings for the past 20 years. Landmark Mall, while it is considerably smaller than Springfield, offers a safer, more pleasant environment. Landmark also boasts the upscale Lord & Taylor department store, which attracts more upscale clientele than those you would find prowling around at Springfield Mall. Since Landmark is less crowded than Springfield, it is also much cleaner. The new "Woodlands" play area is enjoyed by toddlers and babies alike.)

Landmark used to be "Landmark Shopping Center" a large and popular open-air shopping center around sort of a central, two level court. It was later rebuilt into something more closely resembling a classical mall building.

There used to be a small but populous civil war cemetery just across 395 on the Western side, next to what used to be called "Virginia Plaza"
