Isaac Newton Square/Reston Monkey House
From Fairfax Underground Wiki
This square off of Wiehle Avenuse near Sunset Hills Road has a number of small businesses around a large central parking lot. In 1989 here the Ebola Reston virus was discovered in monkeys held in the labs of Hazelton Research Products, now known as Covance. The virus was airborne, and was lethal to monkeys but apparently did not infect any humans. Richard Preston's bestseller The Hot Zone told the story of the Reston outbreak. The lab was demolished some years later.
The lot is an excellent place for doing handbrake turns in the snow during the winter. At your own risk of course.
A strain of Ebola, Ebola Reston was named after this outbreak.
