Darwin Award

His unfortunate manner of death was later the subject of the 1997 Darwin Awards, which noted as part of its "Runner-Up" award, a statement given by Fairfax County Police spokesman Warren Carmichael that "The stretched length of the cord that he had assembled was greater than the distance between the trestle and the ground."
