Dave Grohl

Musician for the Foo Fighters who grew up in North Springfield and attended Thomas Jefferson High School graduating in 1987. Drummer for Nirvana starting with their second album, "Nevermind," hugely influential grunge rock record released in 1991. Group disbanded after death of lead singer Kurt Cobain in April 1994. Grohl then formed the Foo Fighters, taking over lead vocal, guitar and lead songwriting duties. Foo Fighters continue to record in Springfield, Va. Grohl is also part owner of the Black Cat nightclub in Washington, D.C.
