Virginia route 267, or the Dulles Toll Road roughly parallels interstate 66 from the Beltway, although it travels in a more north-westerly direction. Its terminus to the west is Dulles Airport. While the posted speed limit is 55 miles per hour, it is not uncommon to see toll road traffic going 70 miles an hour or faster. Because of this, the Fairfax Police and Virginia State Troopers have stepped up patrols. Traffic fines can be excessive (over $1,000) and judges presiding over cases in which people have been caught at speeds higher than 75mph have given people time in jail, as well as the revocation of their license for a year.
