I voted last time without my drivers license. I went swimming and do not keep it. I could not vote twice because they note it and do not allow people to vote twice. People should be able to vote even if they do not drive and have a license. Once speaking of photo id's I was asked for my passport at the bank. I do not want to have to carry a passport to bank and neither do you.- Rod

January 16, 2008 Reject Real ID in Virginia SB 492, introduced by Senator Emmett Hanger, is being heard today at 2 p.m. in the Senate Committee on General Laws and Technology. While ACLU of Virginia is unclear about the first part of the bill, we emphatically support the second part of the bill that rejects Real ID as an unfunded mandate. The bill states: "That the Department of Health's Office

I'm a people watcher and while driving around Reston I'd noticed this old weird truck. I'd noticed it before traveling up and down the streets of Reston as if searching for a place he used to know much like Reston itself. It was really a shell of what used to be a truck. The front bumper seemed to go in a different direction then the rest of the vehicle. It was just held on by will power or invi

Love the Forum. Used to post on "Backfence" Which went out of business. Maybe simple is better. Though I wonder if Underground wasn't the benificiary or thier demise? And I wonder who really runs Underground? Is it a newspaper clandestin? The Times Website will just never fly because they are just too sensored I think. And I wonder if it won't ever have adds like Backfence? Also I wonder why c

I have a mixed race couple on my cul-de-sack and my minister is in a mixed race marriage. All kidding aside I don't think this is much of a issue here abouts. I know a man in Loudon county that is in a mixed race marriage and he said he'd never move to W. Virginia.-Rod

My guess is we are going to have a hard time coming up with 40 million dollars. Fairfax income is down. All metropolital municipalities income is down and that's going to be the reality for the next year or couple of years.

370. Real ID
As part of next week’s debate on immigration legislation, the U.S. Senate is trying to force states to adopt a National ID card. I say we should help to stop them. In 2005 Congress passed the Real ID Act, which attempts to create a National ID card by requiring all states to standardize their drivers’ licenses and link their systems in a giant national database. Citizens of states that don’t com

Gas doubling in price might be that needed incentive. Gas is currently doubled in price in some countries from what we pay here. Have you ever tried to park in Vienna?

The new parking garage at Vienna will cost we are told 40 million dollars. I've been turned back there because of no place to park several times. It seems if we get more public transportation is should be on rubber tires as on a buss. Tax income is down and we are headed into a time when Fairfax will not have the money for parking garages which is needed to make metro work. The new Wheelie Aven

I really like Magruder in Vienna, been going for years. I don't think any store beats Magruder pricewise. The produce is lesss spiffy then most anywhere else but less pricy too. It kind of reminds me of "The Grapes of Wrath." When not in Magruders I like Wholefoods which I still call Freshfields.

Do any remember Mr Guilford? I knew him back in the eighties and there wee already a lot of stories about him. He was a real character but lovable if you like ex centric people remember people would used to sell him their old cars then he's drive them on the side of the road without tags. the police would warn him. Occasionally they would arrest him usually during the coldest months of the year w

Together it is said they used to run numbers in the old days in Washington. I used to know Gene not professional back thirty years ago and he was old then. He would say to me well if you filp a quarter and bet a doll

I was disappointed in Delegate Plums disregard of 600 registered voters who wished Reston to have to have the Democratic right to vote on their local form of government two years ago. I am even more disappointed in his refusal to take the desire for 3700 registered voters to be able to vote on the form their local government takes. I think his suggestion to ignore the desires of these citizens wh

Interesting reading. I spent a lot of years in McLean (class of 67 or almost) If your not a company man from the right company I think a lot of dissatisfaction is true in general of serious maybe dull people coming to N. Virginia with advanced degrees and a lot of ambition seeking jobs for which they are willing to sacrifice everything. They never achieve for the most part the kind of community w

Ya, around the corner from Kazan's. I remember the guy, Rudy I think, who started that place from a place called for many years Steak in a Sack. Rudy was Armenian and had some great spices. At first he just sold delicious lamb sandwitches. I used to go to the Chinese place when I used to live on Cedar Avenue late at night. It was quite a diverse crowd. It has the distinction of still being there

I remember his photo of a elephant and the caption. -The Smoke House which was next to the old Bowling Alley -The Chinese Bar which still exists -the VFW which still exists to some degree, I used to run into Mr Cline's son there in my few visits there.

I used to go to bars like the old Vienna Inn and really enjoyed myself. Since I quit smoking I very rarely go. Drinkers in Reston are very rarely non smokers I find. Once I went to the South Lakes bar but every person there was smoking so I left. I just view sitting next to someone who smokes as a unfortunite event (no offence ment, it's ok if you smoke and tap on your computer)They say Maryland

"The toilet Bowl" building is actually the first site of the Fairfax County Courthouse. But the Indians were so hostile they had to move it to it's present location or where it was before Fairfax County moved to it's present location. There's a plaque if you look for it outside TGIF.

Reston is governed by the Reston Association and the Reston Community Center. The Reston Association and the Reston Community Center is virtually governed by the ABC or Aliance for better Community of which every member or every member except one is a member. There are one can only guess about 300 members in the ABC. The average home in Reston pays in separately from the RA in fifth district tax

support Ron Paul for President in 2008 because he: ‧ Voted against authorizing the Iraq war. ‧ Voted against the USA PATRIOT Act. ‧ Has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. ‧ Defends habeas corpus and civil liberties. ‧ Opposes regulating the Internet. ‧ Has never voted to raise taxes. ‧ Has never voted for an unbalanced budget. ‧ Is the leading advocat
