There is that CCR song that says "There's a bathroom on the right." Evidently, the Fogerty brothers suffered from Crohn's Disease and were always in the know as to where the toilets were located in any building they entered. So it became a long running joke among members of the band because John or Tom were always saying "there's a bathroom on the right."

I never read it growing up and my kids, who read quite a bit, never have either. It is a bit like Goodnight Moon, the Cat in the Hat, and few other children's books - it is thrust upon all new parents as a 'staple,' must have work of children's literature. I am sure it is good in its own right but it seems to be highly overrated.
