I haven't been on the forum in years and I have no knowledge of the events in the Washington Post article. However, eesh helped me with a forum-related problem several years ago. I remain grateful.

Hmmm the downstairs fridge just has beer in it. Not particularly well stocked right now as it has been awhile since we've had a big party. Upstairs.... There is a brisket for the corned beef and cabbage I plan to make today. A variety of fruits and veggies for juicing. The chicken stock I made last night from the remains of the rotisserie chicken, as well as some of the left over meat. Huge pot

I'm sure we've discussed this before, but ... What has your favorite international trip been? I can't seem to decide where to go this year. Thailand and Laos are high on the list, but Italy isn't far behind.

I've done my best to ignore the plethora of Lizzie threads because "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." However, the pure quantity has made that impossible. I will add my two cents and again retreat. It is completely normal to occasionally have some drama in your life. When the drama is constant, you can't blame it on other people. Either you are causing the drama or you are failing to extr

Why are we rehashing old inka threads? Can we please just not talk about him anymore? It doesn't do anyone any good.

I did the cellar tasting at Chateau O'Brien today and they had some amazing Irish cheeses. I hadn't thought of Ireland as an awesome cheese producing nation until now.

It is normally difficult to find interesting threads. Now it is basically impossible.

There is a sweet spot where people do a double-take, then realize you are being sarcastic. Going beyond that probably means you are trying to use sarcasm to be outrageous instead of using it to make a point. Which really means you aren't being sarcastic at all.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I will check out Belmont and fivestroke's suggestions. I agree that Samsung makes awesome TVs so that is an option. It wouldn't work well in our current setup, but we'll probably be moving in the next year.

Our projector died and it doesn't seem to be the lamp. Since it is a few years old, repairing it could cost more than it is worth. Therefore, we are in the market for a new projector or TV. I am leaning towards a projector because our living room doesn't have a great place to put a TV. The projector screen pulls down over a book case, so it isn't like the TV could just replace the screen.

There is so much crap in off topic that bumping a Meade thread seems like a good idea.

Unless there is malice, I think it is an accident. You could always argue that the driver did something wrong. Were they driving too fast for conditions when they hit the ice? Were the tires bald? Was it late at night and their responses were slow due to exhaustion?

Let's change my scenario; Driver A was texting while driving, failed to see a light change, and hit Driver B. Same outcome. If Driver A "pays" for Driver B's life with their own life, how do they "pay" for the lives of the passengers? Again, it is the severity of the crime that determines the appropriate punishment. Failing to pay full time attention puts others at risk. It is also something eve

I never really considered buying an iPad, but the iPad mini is tempting. It looks like the perfect size for reading books or watching movies while traveling. Enjoy!

Dinner at home, a bottle of wine, and a decadent dessert. Cuddle up with a movie or next to a (lit) fireplace. Flowers are nice, but I'd avoid roses... way too overpriced this week. Orchids are gorgeous but require a bit of work if you want to keep them alive to bloom again. Maybe lilies or tulips?

I believe that you only need an ID if checking baggage - which is the airline'a deal. However, you may undergo a lot of extra scrutiny with TSA. I had to look into this once when I was traveling and misplaced my ID. Luckily I located it before I had to fly home.

There is nothing cruel about stating that obesity is associated with a slew of health problems. There is nothing cruel about thinking that a 400 lb woman is unattractive. Cruelty would be insulting or harassing the woman. I

I think that we are unneccesarily cruel to the fat and obese. However, I have also seen how a ten lb weight loss (within supposedly healthy weight levels) can improve things like cholesterol levels. Everyone is different but that doesn't mean we should support those that insist upon maintaining a ridiculously unhealthy weight.

I think my contribution went up by about $5/paycheck. Since I can't remember a year in which it hasn't increased, I'm not complaining. The increases were more substantial for the premium plan, but I haven't had a single year in which I've had enough doctors' bills to justify the premium plan.

I'd vote for Hillary (and not as the lesser of two evils), but if she makes it past the primaries I think it is an automatic win for the Republican party.
