And it's worth finding out how to reset the "oil change needed" light yourself even if you don't change it yourself (Google is your friend here). Otherwise if you ever have it changed *before* the light comes on, you'll be out of sync and then when it does come on, it won't mean anything. IOW, if you have it changed before the light comes on, make sure to reset it yourself afterward.

My attachment to my heat pump is based on not having gas in my neighborhood! Been her 28 years, have replaced heat pump twice (once shortly after moving in, once a couple of years ago). We don't hate it, but boy, if gas were available, we'd have switched in a heartbeat.

Could it be a "real read" vs. an estimated read? That happens sometimes: they estimate for a few months, then come and do an actual reading. That can lead to a surprise (in either direction). I'd call FCWA. They've always been remarkably coherent, the few times I've had cause to call them.
