The goal is improving, not redistribute equally. There are no big difference among all the options. So how do you explain McNair is left out, other than hand picking communities? Agreed. All options presented reduced the FRM/ESOL w/o big margin of difference. No one from SLH can really answer Berduis questions. Berduis, Instead of picking which communites should be thrown under the bus, why not consider some other options. I would love to see an Oak Hill HS.

Burdhuis, Redistricting is not the only way to solve the proble. I think what the county and SLH should really consider is how to improve SLH, not only the numbers on paper, but what can really help the communities. To do that, we need to do some research and find out what is the root cause of the issue. Let me try to summary the issue w/ SHL: 1) While there's wealthy/advantage/high performi

SLVerity, You can think SHL is already a gem and you don't need to tell me that. But when it comes to where my kids go, be it public school or private, I make the decision. With the current hoop-la going on, if the school boards carries on, and if my kids were one of the 69 students forced to SLH with no adequate AP classes, then *for the best interest of my kids*, they'd be somewhere else. And

SLVerity, What makes you think SLH's need weights more than others? The current propose is very unfair to the Floris communities. Previous poor planning can not be the excuses for future poor planning. Let's say, you get all your wishes. In a few years SLH becomes a shining star and people with kids are moving in all those new developement and 'aged' communities. All of sudden, 'due to incorrec

VoiceOfReston, No one has said there can't be any redistricting. But isn't it common sense to use redistricting as some sort of 'last choice'? For example, for Floris area experiencing 6/7 boundary changes in the past decade is just too much. This redistricting sounds suspicious, because: 1) Schools that ARE over crowded are excluded 2) Communities belong to Reston are untouched 3) Communities

People in Floris are NOT 2 miles away from SLH. The closest Floris address is more than double that distance. Please use correct information. SLVerity, Perception and facts are two different things. You have a right to make your argument, but using INCORRECT data to tailor your agenda will back fire. Again, there is NO Floris within 3.5 mile of travel disctance to SLH. This is a FACT. Old Timer, Children have to travel on roads, not by direct lines, correct? The information provided on the SL url is misleading to be the least. I understand SLS PSTA's ambition, but can we use correct numbers? I cannot find any address with Floris with travel distance less than 4.4 mile. I would say the majority of affect Floris students' travel distance is reduced by about 1 mile. And I'm no

Hey bulldog, not sure if you are responding to original post or mine. But I didn't say anything about Westfield causing it. Hey the VA shooter was redistricted to Westfield. Who knows, maybe redistricting is too much for someone on the edge... Does that apply to Reston? Why RTC's growth is not considered? There are plenty of condos around RTC priced around 300k-350k for two bedrooms. Or shall I ask the question the other way, if SL is Oakton, don't you think the actual number of school age children in RTC will change? Unfortunately, Coppermine and boundary is still TBD, and we shouldn't based on current discussino on TBD projections. If you look at the pending development related to Coppermine, you shall see they are all north of Frying Pan (except one pending) and are within the current McNair boundary. For folks not living in Floris but likes to talk about it, the travel disctance to SLH is 6.69mi, compare

All in all, the school board or Stu shouldn't rely on neighboring communities to bail out. A summary of posts I saw here: Socio-economic factors is NOT key to improve a school's performance (as seen b/t South Lakes and Stuart). The board should listen to not only South Lakes, but also people affected. During the majority of the two town hall meetings, the majority support NO CHANGE. I wonder how

As said before, don't speak for FLS, if you are not from there. Where's your numbers coming from about FLS's "big growth" -- The vast open area in FLS boundary is the Dulles Airport. According to Fairfax County's own projection, WFH is at capacity and will be under capacity down the road. Please stop pumping FLS wanting to go to SL. If you went to last night's meeting, you'll know. What's wrong

Why FLS, or any schools outside of SLH have to be the prey? What happened to 500+ pupil placement OUT of SLH? What is the county doing by spending 8.7M taxpayers money to expand WFH capacity permanently to 3100 and claim well, it needs to keep the enrollment at close to 2000? Don't speak for Floris, FLS wants to stay with Westfield even if it has 3000 students. There's no FLS East or FLS West, there is one FLS and is NOT a split feeder currently.
