It was covered by the Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/08/AR2009010804269.html Moon will vote with parents, against staff, for the first time in his long tenure on the school board. Why now? Because he believes he will soon be running for the Board of Supervisors when Sharon Bulova wins the chair in February. Moon won't want to anger any voters by voting agai

Why would anyone believe that a university, with thousands of applicants, takes the time to redo every GPA before they make their first cut? Of course they don't. Please wake up folks, Dale and the school board are costing you thousands of dollars in scholarship money by refusing to do this very simple thing, change the grading scale so that our kids have the same deal as every other student

Gee, how compassionate you are westfield mom. What a shame that not every parent can afford private school and the politicians won't allow us to have school choice.

One of the saddest stories I've read. His mother was home in bed, leaving a 4 year old and a 6 year old to fend for themselves, with nothing to eat. Of course he probably cannot tell time and had no idea when to go to the bus stop, when to stop waiting for it to appear. It's just so sad. I hope that he and his brother can be placed in a loving home where he can get the care and parenting that

If staff recommends it, the school board will pass it. I am totally surprised. This is the first time, in over 20 years, that the schools have done something that parents wanted. The SLEEP people who got this done are to be congratulated. I never thought that they would get staff to go along with their ideas, but they did! Kudos to SLEEP and to staff for finally doing something for student

Why Floris? Because Stu lets it happen. It's so much easier for staff to redistrict a school when their school board rep doesn't care.

Unfortunately the School Board works for staff, and not the parents. While I agree that parents and students should let the school board know how they feel, it never matters. The Board always votes for whatever staff recommends. The amazing thing is that staff took the time, and money, to do a rather extensive study only to ignore the results. The report said that the grading scale hurts our

For those you who don't read the Post, which appears to be the majority here, you might want to read today's front page. Your little anecdotal stories conflict with the facts as FCPS's own study demonstrated. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/02/AR2009010202430.html?hpid=topnews Don't you love it when staff spends tens of thousands of dollars on a study and then ign

The principal decides who is in the Level 4, smart class. In some schools only 4 students in the smart class qualified for the GT center placement, the rest are filled in by the principal. Some schools with smart classes have already abandoned them for obvious reasons. They aren't really taught at the level of GT center classes since not all kids are GT kids, and the classes cause a lot of pro

Once again, FCPS fails to do the right thing for our students. Even though the research shows that our grading scale is hurting our students in college admissions, and college scholarships, Dr.Dale is recommending that it not be changed. Since our school board works for Dale and staff, they will support this no change policy. Read Fairgrades excellent response here, the fist pdf file: http:/

How would McCain know who they hired to set up the stage? He wouldn't. That's a job done by the local people, not the campaign.
