BTW, Kobersteen, Webster defines "yacht" as "any of various recreational watercraft", (the key word being RECREATIONAL). So, even an 8 foot pram, if rowed for pleasure, is a yacht.

Let's turn it into a boat thread! Here's a (much poorer) sister ship currently for sale: http://www.everyboat.com/boat/928-1970-chris-craft-constellation See, they don't cost much to buy...but LOTS to keep up (properly)...and golly, the price of diesel is about to KILL me! LOL Here's some shots of a better kept 57 Connie to flip through: http://www.grandislandmansion.com/mansion_tour/yacht

Most of this phony outrage is in fact over re-districting. The Tistadts are (him) an errand boy for the school board, and (her) a school secretary. Firing both of them will not make an iota of difference to re-districting. Get over it...your kids are a) GOING to go to SLHS with black kids or b) to the private school of your choice. Couldn't be any simpler!

I've always dealt with the bruthas at Banks Auto Parts for all my junkyard part needs. Years ago, he was real close by in Newington...then he moved to Woodbridge...and now he's way the hell down in Massaponax (I think). Still worth the drive though!

I'm surprised that there aren't more car fires. Modern engines have electric fuel pumps, fuel injection, etc. This is some pretty high pressure stuff compared to the old mechanical fuel pumps and carburetors. A fuel line ruptures and the shit sprays everywhere.

My retirement gig is security at a FCPS school....and to all that say, "Schools should have dismissed out early last Thursday"...it ain't that easy! I work closely with the bus drivers, and have gotten to know many of them, and a LOT of them have other jobs during the mid-day. So, they are not available to drive buses until the normal dismissal time. How are the kids supposed to get home with

Police are in the public safety business...I have no problem with the po-po helping a church lot empty....or a shopping center at Christmas....or motorsickles for funerals. I think all that is an appropriate use of taxpayers' money. Only thing I can think of that pisses me off is firemen panhandling! (that was for Kobersteen! LOL)

About 25 years ago, I had the honor of having Mr Sarris as a neighbor. He rented the empty slip next to my boat. He had a "cigarette" type boat (40+ long speedboat, a pair of tricked 502 cube Chevies...90-100 mph boat) I think is was a Fountain, which is top of the line. I LOVED the name painted on the side..."HOT KNOTS" Anyway, I was on my boat one afternoon and heard this HUGE racket alongs

Shoot, that looks like my drivin' record in '68! (minus the tint rap, no sucha thing back then). That's the year I got my '56 Nomad on the road after like 2-3 years of working on it. I put a 396 big block, with two 4s on a tunnel ram in it, a RADICAL Isky cam, and a set of Hooker headers and THRUSH mufflers. FCPD was on me like stink on shit! They called it "Excessive Noise" back then...it co

Even professional appraisals are just guesses. The best way to tell are "comps", or the price that similar properties sold for. You can look that up at: http://icare.fairfaxcounty.gov/Main/Home.aspx Even this doesn't tell the whole story because only gross selling prices are given...you have no way of knowing how much the seller had to kick back to do the deal (seller subsidies). For fun, I

Hey wait, there's different types of homeless people. The single male/female types are the ones you see in the woods and in parking lots. Then there's the welfare queens with a bunch of kids....THOSE are the type that the City/County puts up in cheap motels like the Breezeway or Anchorage. FCPS school buses transport kids to and from there every school day. While the first type might, if t

Historically, houses around here sold for considerably more than their assessed value. That was before the boom and the current bust...most properties are vastly over-assessed now....many by 6 figures. This County is in for a world of hurt when these assessments fall, as they must. Of course, they will raise the tax rate to try to make up for the loss of revenue...but I've heard that the rate w
