At least parents are given warning about teacher workdays weeks in advance, in Wisconsin, teachers just call in sick ... (since strikes are illegal, they're allowed to call it a "sick out") http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/116465503.html The average pay with benefits for Wisconsin's teachers is $91k

Been there 3 times in 2011 and was really surprised how different it was on the inside than the outside. Best wings in the area. Service staff was helpful for me (although I got the Korean girl on the phone during a takeout order and the Engrish was a challenge)

With all due respect Lavar, you let Redskins fans down today. I understand you had a personal stake in it (and were paid appropriately) but you failed miserably today. (Yes it would have been the end of the show, but you would have been remembered forever!)

Ironically just this afternoon, a bus driver in training missed my daughters stop (SACC) and asked her and another 3rd grader to get off at the next stop. Fortunately my daughter recognized the area and walked back to SACC bringing her classmate. SACC teacher saw bus go by and brought this to our attention this evening. Wife is PISSSSSSED.

Sure is a lot of animosity directed towards the top-rated high school in the country. http://education.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/education/high-schools/articles/2009/12/09/virginia-high-school-is-best-in-the-nation Haters gonna hate

Its the damn GT parents fault! Worried that their precious children would slip on the ice and ruin their homework which would ruin their perfect grade, preventing them from getting accepted to an Ivy League school and dooming them to a life of mediocrity!

I was a big fan of the Don & Mike show and I even remember them on the Morning Zoo. Uh, that's about all I have to contribute other than they were more entertaining and engaging than Stern.

Other potential reason(s): (a) it would be a bigger PITA to tell parents to come get their kids at noon due to early closures, (b) higher risk at bringing kids home on normal schedule if the snow/ice hits right as schools are letting out, and (c) they have a ton of snow days to burn. Calling today off was easy, risk avoidance.
