Quote Now I am not old and I am not prude, but when the first thing my kid says off the bus their first day of school is about the teacher's tounge that is pierced, I about hit the roof! I imagine that if your kid's teacher had a glass eye, or an eye patch, or had some sort of facial deformity, or was missing an ear, a finger, or an arm/leg it would also be the first thing he/she talked about g

I can't imagine a bigger non-issue. Mom's who flip out about stupid stuff like this end up having kids with way more than their tongues pierced.

Talk to the landlord. There are very specific rules set out in leases about this. Everyone who lives there is supposed to be on the lease, and there is a formula they use to determine overcrowding. For each bedroom you can only have x non related people but I don't know the exact number.

Please stop putting words in my mouth. I didn't say the vcdl violates property owner's rights. I said it disrespects them by ridiculing them when they request no firearms on their property. My language was a bit harsh with the descriptions, but such is life when discussing things on them there interwebs. Let me sum it up since I'm off to the gun show: I really respect what the vcdl has accomp

Quote You're opposed to informing people which restaurants are hostile to gun owners? You are putting words in people's mouths. Read my previous posts where I say I actually like the list, not the insane commentaries that go along with them. Not wanting guns in your place is different than being hostile to gun owners. Most restaurants don't allow you to bring dogs either. Would you phrase this

(I finally got unlazy and logged back in, been so long I even mixed up my handle with a friend of mine's) Thanks 4wheeler Gun ownership is relatively new to me so lets hope it lasts. I see the vcdl will be at the gun show this weekend and so will I so I'm going to stop by and see what they have to say. The only reason it really bugs me is that I was looking for an organization to support, but

I was thinking today about the toll booths on 267: What do the toll takers do if they have to take a leak or drop a deuce? Is there a bathroom in there somewhere? Obviously it wouldn't be a problem at the main 495 booths, but most of them are just lone outposts. Anybody know?

An FYI, An officer has been standing at the westbound Reston Pkwy exit off the toll road doing a sticker check on every car as the toll is paid. Yesterday and today, I assume they'll be there tomorrow too.

Keep in mind when you read the list that the fee is 3 times the fee listed because you have to pay it each year for the following three years.

The list is at the bottom of the pdf and it is quite extensive. Its not just "certain" offenses, there are few that aren't on the list, and the ones that aren't are probably under the "RD - Generally" line item. Failure to signal? Get ready to pay the fine + processing fee + new fee of $1050

Wow, I forgot that guy was around here. For those who haven't seen this guy on the show or don't remember it: He walked in to a house where he was going to meet a 13 yr old boy/girl for sex COMPLETELY NAKED. This was before dateline worked with the cops so he justwalked free afterwards. Less than 24 hours later they bust the same exact guy by telling him to meet a 13 yr old kid at a McD's.

There's four places. There's the Burger Hut. That's on third. There's Burgers-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Burgers-There? That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Burger... Matter of fact, they're all in the same same place. The burger district. (couldn't resist)

Never mind, google provided. Yes, the cable lines have backup power, so in the case of my neighborhood VOIP over cable + ups is likely to be more reliable than our phone situation.

Let me throw in another question here: Does a cable modem have any chance of staying up during a power outage? (assuming it was on a ups of course) Do the neighborhood cable junction boxes have any kind of backup power?

I think the most likely answer is the batteries are dead at whatever junction my neighborhood's lines goes through. I found several usenet posts where this was the case. Next time I see a vz truck in the neighborhood I'm going to ask them about it.

600k to 1mb? Thats ridiculously slow for fiber. Cox gets me ~5mb consistent at the moment, except for when it completely craps the bed, which is more and more often as of late.

My buddy just a few miles away has had FIOS for almost a year now. I've drawn up several plans on how to kill him and assume his identity so that I can move into his place and abscond his bandwidth. Unfortunately, my plot is always foiled by some do goodin' kids in a vw bus.....
