I went to the Fairfax County Fair a few months ago. Fairfax water was giving out blue glasses filled with water - bottled water. Talk about false advertising. LOL.

Regarding the Roy Rogers on Picket St: Based on the cars in the photo, the photo is from the 1975-1977 time frame. I grew up in MT. Vernon, but I used to swim at the Star Light? Indoor pool across route 236. The pool has been gone since the late '70s or early '80s. I used to go across to the Roy's after swimming. This was in late 1977. The Roy Rogers is now Einstein Bagels I live in Annandale

I am sure he is a good and qualified Principle. His military background hopefully, can help with student discipline. But, it doesn't matter how qualified he is if the majority of students don't have a good family structure and motivation. If he doesn't have much to work with, he can only do so much.

I graduated from MV in '87 It was still a fine school then. Thomas Hyer was the principle. He was pretty "hands off" but he had a good staff of sub-school principals for the "hands on" stuff. Then, Gerry Hyland got elected in fall '87 as MV Supervisior. He championed massive Section 8 housing along the Route 1 corridor. This was the genesis of the downfall of MV High School. I spent a fair amount of time at Time Out in my teen years. I never really noticed the "Mall Rats." We would usually go to Time Out and/or a movie, maybe eat at Roy Rogers. We didn't loiter all day like the kids depicted in the article. We were still in High School and had jobs in the Summer. There was a kid in my Geography class, who was a bad student, who I let cheat off me. He invited me to

Fredericksburg is actually pretty laid back and friendly. Here in Annandale.....not so much. He shouldn't bother appearing in Fairfax County because Hillary's got it locked up with all the immigrants and liberal whites.

Fairfax County is controlled by the Dems. Tax and Spend Get used to it. With the massive influx of immigration in the last decade and the dying off of older, more conservative people, they will be in control for the forseeable future, unfortunately. They control the Board of Supervisors In the last election, I noticed two referendums that, if passed, would require huge amounts of $$. I guess

This is a map of George Washington's farms in and around today's Mt.Vernon area The map is from the 1790's, when George was still alive I grew up in Woodlawn Manor, which is next to Grist Mill Park. There is an old barn on the Grist Mill Park property. The barn was built in the 1920's when it was a Dairy Farm. The location of today's Gristmill Park is easily seen as a treeless section of the U

I had forgotten all about that slide located in Springfield. I believe I went there a few times at about age 3 or 4. I was born in 1969. Was it located near or accross from Fisher's Hardward and the Pondersosa steak house? I seem to remember it being near there. I have a feeling it was torn down no later than 1973.

yeah, this is just another sign that the massive immigration has hurt the tax base and the county needs $$ badly. I will vote no
