A nice day trip is good to Lake Fairfax water park and right down the street is Reston Petting Zoo. The kids playgrounds are slim, but check teh elementary schools along Stringfellow. The rec center at Oak Marr may have some activities. They have an indoor pool I believe. Kids under 4 are free. If you don't spending some money, enroll the kid in the Little Gym. They have weekly classes for

I wish I can remember the name, but there is an excellent itallian restaurant in Fairfax City at Main St and University Dr. Begins with a D. serves Northern Italian cuisine and is small. No large crowds like Da Dominico in Tysons. Highly recommended for night out with a date. Bring some cash or credit though, expensive.

There are gyms at both of those NVCC campus's. The Annandale one is in the back end of teh campus. I believe the Alexandria one is in a seperate building near Beaureguard. If you don't mind the drive, there is a rec center on Telegraph Rd near Rosehill, Lee District Park. They have nice courts. They have a bunch of folks from DC go there though.

I agree with many of your points. Cars of today are built faster and safer, but the human factor still exists. If someone were to step out in front of your car, if you were traveling at a higher speed, your stopping distance would obviously be longer. You couldn't stop in time. And there are times that swerving into opposing traffic lanes isn't an option. THe fatser you go, you have more tun

The tax is increasing 30 cents and it's the whole state, not just Fairfax County. The county cannot place a cigarette tax without approval from the state. So the state made a tax increase because of the cigarette lawsuit and monies needed, they say, for medical costs incurred by the state for cigarette caused illnesses that they pay for through medicare/medicaid.

VDOT sets the wacky speed limits. They have some code that mandates a speed limit for certain areas due to density of residences or businesses. Fairfax County, not State Police, has a policy that no tickets should be written for persons travelling less than 10mph over the speed limit, but that is not set in stone. Over 10, write them. If he wants to pull you over for, lets say a seatbelt viol

It will be at Pohick Bay park on the 4th of July after 9 at night until sometime in the morning. They'll be checking boatt operators as they arrive. I think it is a new state law. The bay and park are in Fairfax Jurisdiction. I suggest, if you're gonna drop you're boat in, go to Occoquan Park boat ramp.

The police helicopter is near Fairfax on West Ox rd at the fire academy. Aircare and Medstar use the Reston Hospital all the time. It isn't Fairfax Police. The really loud helicopters you hear in Centreville is usually Aircare in their Bell 412, a really loud and big helicopter. They are based in Manassas, Leesburg, Stafford, and Winchester. So they are flying over the western side of the co

They are CIA police, not GSA. The GSA cruisers have a different badge symbol on their doors. The CIA has their own force and secures numerous facilities in the area, especially McLean. This is not a guess, as others have said. I know for a fact that is who they are. GSA Police do not have any authority on CIA property, just as GSA has no authority at FBI facilities. The FBI has their own po
