Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Why don't you study up on how to fix it yourself? Provided your dryer has mechanical controls, and not a keypad, it should be a relatively simple machine.

Be a kid making up witty repartee like this in his parents' basement and the girls will avoid you like the plague.

I wonder if that's the orignal Mighty Midget, or the one they found to replace it after the original was smashed by a car? Thanks, though. I knew it was in that area, but hadn't been able to find a picture of it in the orignal location. Online info says these were made from surplus B-29 fuselage sections; I still say they were B-25 parts.

Must be supernatural agencies, 'cause I believe Ernest Borgnine has passed away.

National Bank Note issued throught the Peoples National Bank of Leesburg (Now the Lightfoot restaurant). Under the National Banking Acts various local banks were designated National Banks. They had a charter from the Federal Government to issue federal currency. It was printed in Washington, but signed by the bank's officials and printed with their name on it.

Mrs. Barnes was our crossing guard in elementary school. Nice lady. Second pic is when they first moved in when the Pimmit Hills houses were first built. She's wearing boots because there's no grass yet.
Lotta people talk crap about Pimmit Hills. They did when I was growing up too. Some morons will because of this post. Most of them have never been there, but love to repeat what they've heard abo

She doesn't have a speech impediment. Her voice was fine for the first several decades she was in radio. She developed spasmodic dysphonia and just about lost her voice. Her voice only funct

@Sleepy- Thanks again for the Page used car photo. It's probably not much later than '53, either. All the cars look in good shape, and the Chevy and the Mercury are probably on their original tires. During the early years of the Korean War, no whitewalls were made. Note those cars, which are '50s or '51s, have blackwalls, but the Olds is back to wide whites. The car behind the line has blackwalls

Best laid plans. This is the planning commission map for Tysons Corner from 1961. GCM HS, I-495 and the airport access road didn't even exist yet at this point, though they are shown in their eventual locations. Tysons Corner Center went where the convention center was meant to be.

More 1862 photos, apologies if some have shown up before.
Ruins of the Cub Run Bridge, and ruins of the Stone Bridge over Bull Run. Stone Church at Centreville, and the Stone House that's still on the Manassas Battlefield. So the last is in Prince William, but in keeping with the ecumenical nature of this thread as regards localities.
