You start at 15% and your tip can go up or down form there. I've only not tipped once - but that was for the girl who went on break after our food came out having never brought it out and 1.5 hours later finally brought out my ice cream which was, by then, melted. But to insist that the minimum is now 20% is annoying - just because some people try to outdo each other with how generous they are d

Back in New York state in the 80s and 90s when I was growing up, they did the 'phase in' of the seat belts with the new buses they bought. And no, kids didn't vandalize the seat belts, actually. I don't recall having ever seen one that was vandalized... But did I ever wear one? Nope. Wasn't required. How is someone going to enforce that? Also, our school district's bus superintendant said that i

...sounds like a case of 'we told you to get here before your shift starts so you're on time' and the employee taking it for they should be paid from the time they walk in the door, although the time before they clock in is 'schmoozing'. ;)

I've been using AT&T/Cingular since I moved here. Just get a good phone that has good signal (check online for reviews) and you'll never have a problem. (Mine always has at least 3 bars in the house and my husband doesn't get a signal, both of us have AT&T ;). AT&T is the cheapest I found, I think...

...and I want to know when it went to 20% was the norm from 15%. (And no, I'm not some old person - in my mid 20s still.) So I'm sick of hearing servers complain about not getting 'at least' 20%. for me, I give 15%, 20% if you were really good.

Dulles is why when Independence Air started gate-checking *all* bags, I was very happy. And when Independence Air went out of business, I started cramming everything into a carry-on or driving 7.5 hours instead of flying. It was faster to drive than go through security, wait for plane, load plane, fly, then wait for bags at Dulles, and take the 3 hours for someone to be able to find you in the m

Back home in my area of NY state, we have a law that after a certain number of days after the eleciton, the candidates' signs need to be taken down and the candidates get fined if the signs are still there after the deadline. I keep wishing someone would create a law here for that. This place looks like a pigsty from August to January because of the signs.

I go to VCA University Vet across form george Mason. A little more than my parents pay for similar services in upstate New York, but I figure this is Northern VA prices. Doctor is great and has taken great care of our cat who has unfortunately had two medical problems last year. They also have Saturday appointments.

It's ok - I like Wegman's subs better, but Potbelly's does have *awesome* milkshakes (although a bit overpriced, IMO).

I just moved from an apartment next to George C Marshall (which is across the street from Pimmit Hills). Not more/less crime than anywhere else, the houses are small, but it looks like many have had additions. There are some new McMansions on Magarity, though. (And one butt-ugly pink house at the top of Magarity being sold for ~$450K...) There are townhouses across rt. 7 that sell for around the

If you're seriously looking at places, the realtor who is listing should be able to find out the average utilities of the property for you.

My husband does the Park and Ride in Reston to WFC to Farragut West. Takes him about an hour or 1:15 - not bad, considering it took him 45 minutes/an hour just taking the metro to WFC then driving a mile to our apartment in Falls Church.

Back home we have laws about how long you can have campaign signs up for and, I think, they have to have them *all* down within 48 hours of the election. We don't really have this "let's put up 40 million signs five months before the election" problem. Of course, they then put up fewer, but larger signs. Grr...

BUY IT! It doesn't just cover the house, it also covers the land your house is sitting on - which has been owned a lot longer than when your house was built. If there was a problem in one of the transactions 'way back when' and one of the descendants comes back to you claiming they actually own the land, the title insurance *protects you*.
