I can tell you with 100% certainty that every dollar put in the Boot goes to our local office of MDA. Due to COVID, there will be no in person collection, but there will be an all virtual/online campaign coming in October. Thanks to those who help the Fairfax County Firefighters and Communications professionals support MDA.

The closest thing to a NY Deli that I have found in Fairfax County is the Celebrity Delly in Loehmanns Plaza (Route 50, just inside the Beltway) http://www.celebritydeliva.com/

Nameless: You are partially correct. Actually, the membership voted to have Local 2068 counsel examine the Bland suit and resulting documents and advise the Local on how to proceed. Part of the motion gave the Executive Board the ability to file administrative charges against Young with the Local or IAFF to have him removed during the summer. Also, Bazaar, President Niemiec did not bring up a

Actually, our number one priority is safety, which may appear to someone creeping by as an attempt "to snarl traffic as much as possible, for as long as possible". That is the safety of the people involved in the wreck as much as the safety of those responding to the wreck (PD, FD, VDOT and wrecker driver). Speaking as an Engine Driver at a station that routinely runs wrecks on highway, the onl

Gosh, where's Duh when you need him. For those that care, take a look at this topic from 2007, the last time we (Fairfax County) were number one in the nation for collections during our annual (for more than 30 years) Fill the Boot Campaign to benefit the Greater Washington MDA, a 56 year tradition in the fire service nationwide. http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/45154.html Thanks

I'm not sure where they come from, but I have used stuffed animals to ease the fears of children while being they are being transported or having a family member transported on the ambulance. Try calling the Life Safety/Public Information office of Fairfax County Fire & Rescue - 703-246-2126. Thanks!

I ran the guy on Medic 22 a lot in years past. His respiratory issues would get the best of him and he would head to a payphone and call 911. It is sad that he met his demise as he did, but I can't say that it surprises me.

I took Route 50 from Fair Oaks to St. Louis, Mo and that was a fantastic drive. It varies from freeway to two lane road through the 'one stoplight towns'. It isn't the quickest way, but it sure was great seeing 'real America'.
