OP, your post opens with the statement, "Has Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology outlived its purpose? That is the question educators and staff are asking." But I don't see any support for the underlined assertion anywhere in the rest of your post.

I hear a useful strategy when attempting to express your ideas to others is to be coherent.

So this was a "news" article saying there might be an announcement that will tell us when the Silver Line might open? So we've sunk so low that instead of getting excited about the SL opening date, we're now getting spun up over the announcement date concerning the SL opening date. Yikes.

Although the fact that it's still 15.7% is a little crazy as well. That's about 1 in every 6th student. What a bunch of dumb-dumbs.

Wow, 36.4 % of high school students were smoking cigarettes in 1997? That seems absurd. I mean, that does say 1997, not 1967, right? Over one in every three students ?!

I'm surprised more teachers don't buy these and hide them under their desks. Would probably help cut down on students playing w/ cell phones in class.

Gotta love this area: Fairfax, VA - both the city itself, and area of county near city. City provides all it's own services and taxation except contracting its school facilities out to be administered by the county Herndon, VA - both the town itself, and the area of county near town. Town provides some services, county runs schools (which has students from both) Vienna, VA - both the town its

Now I've known copy editing has gone out the window for a while now, especially with online media, but this is how reporters write real-time as well? Tweet: "It's OVER. Suspect in custody. No injuries. Unknown when rds will reopen sz @fairfax pol ice Bud Walker #WTOP " I mean, given everything else written in there, was it soooo necessary to condense "roads" to 'rds' and "says" to 'sz'. It look

I've never really understood the need to anonymously flame, race-bait, troll, or otherwise wreak havoc on these boards, but I suppose the question is an interesting one. I see un- or loosely moderated anonymous message boards as the subject for many a sociology PhD thesis in the coming years.
