I'm not sure I understand quite what you are saying. To receive FCPD and other local emergency services you need a scanner capable of scanning trunked radio systems. You also need a decent antenna mounted as high as possible to get reliable coverage. I have both. Finally, to rebroadcast over the internet it is necessary to use software that streams the audio so people can use applications like

After looking into broadcasting through Radio Reference I decided that putting the feed there wouldn't be that great. RR won't let me broadcast any of the tactical channels. The tac channels are where most of the good stuff happens - like being able to hear one of FFX finest huffing and puffing while he's in pursuit or the time one of them got bit by their own dog... I plan to put up my own f

I ran the boris.serveirc scanner for quite a few years. However, when Radio Reference put up their scanners people migrated there probably because the teamspeak software was kind of an odd duck and tricky to get it to work. I still think the reception that I have is superior to the RR feeds. It should be. I am using a top-of-the-line scanner and have an antenna mounted up pretty high. Now tha

The FFX track record on actually catching someone after an incident is dismal. Despite the massive number of cops guarding the perimeter, k9, and the helicopter they are nearly always a day late and a dollar short. If they get one guy in a hundred they are lucky. The one time I did hear them get the bad guy they had two dogs and the guy cornered in a hotel parking lot. When K9 went in they ha

We are scanning about 75% of the FFX Public Services Trunk Network which includes all dispatch channels, ops channels, and tactical channels for both Police and Fire.

If you want to use the scanner you should download the Teamspeak V2 client and not the newer version 3. We plan an update later in 2013 to a more standard format.

For those interested the boris.serveirc.com Police Fire Scanner for FFX county is back up and running. This is an alternative to Radio Reference and IMHO the reception and coverage are better. Instructions here: http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/wiki/Scanner You can also get the scanner by downloading the Speex app on your iPhone or iPad. Listen to FFX finest as the chase the baad guys.

The Fairfax Police and Fire Scanner is now back online. During the last set of T-storms a piece of equipment got fried. Note that this system is only compatible with Teamspeak V2 which can still be downloaded from the Teamspeak site. We will upgrade to V3 when the iPhone version is upgraded to work with that version.

You are now able to listen to the scanner using your iPhone or iPod Touch device. You will need to get the "PhoneSpeex" program from the iTunes store. Once you have the program enter the url of the scanner - boris.serveirc.com at port 8767 (this is the default). That's it. You will then be able to listen once you connect.
