How is it unethical for a lawyer to defend his client?? If you tell your lawyer you're innocent and you want him to pursue your defense as if you are innocent, he's obligated to do just that. If the lawyer took their money and told the jury "yeah I actually think this person is guilty" he'd probably get disbarred.
