NBC 4 reported at end of its 11 pm news that Fairfax County Police are investigating an incident involving shots being fired. Location at Lincoln Circle in the Tysons Corner area. It's across International Drive from the Rotunda. The news report said that numerous police cars are in the area. I did not find anything on the channel's website, WTOP's website, or anywhere I looked online. I was

Turns out that I misread initial report and the fire and crash were actually on the outer loop side of the Beltway on the bridge. At any rate the bridge was closed in both directions for hours. If Google maps has it right the inner loop side of the bridge is now open, but the outer loop side is still "Closed until Jun 21." I'm not sure that means that it will definitely open sometime on June 21

The crash happened at least 3 hours ago. I think the crash, which involved a large truck, was on the inner loop. Traffic in both directions is still a nightmare. At some time Virginia police were diverting outer loop traffic off the Beltway. Local roads near Wilson Bridge are likely jammed on both sides of the Potomac River. https://wtop.com/local/2018/06/truck-fire-shuts-down-traffic-on-wil

Too funny. Former NY Times editor tries to pretend that she ever had credibility as a reporter/editor. Anonymous commenter nails her with a perfect example of why she never had credibility. Just to update and answer my own question: "Was he charged with hit and run b/c his car hit him and he didn't stick around to give his info to himself?" I saw a local news report on TV, which showed that he hit at least a couple of cars before FCPD tried to pull him over. So he wasn't charged with hit and run on himself.

Guy refuses to pull over for Fairfax County Police. He jumps out of his car without putting it into park. He then runs in front of his own vehicle and is hit by his own car. Jumps up and again tries to run from the police. They catch him. Charged with felony eluding of police, DWI, driving on a revoked license, marijuana possession, and hit and run, among other charges. Massive traffic jams. My wife wanted to go. I drove there & parked in parking lot next to movies after 15 minutes gridlock in that lot. After shopping for an hour, it took 41 minutes (4:10 to 4:51 pm*) to get out of the garage. Total gridlock everywhere. [* I originally mistyped this as 4:10 to 4:41. Corrected on edit.]

In situations like this, first reports are often wrong. Second and third reports can be wrong. Keep that in mind before hating on

A man on the Cedar Lane overpass of I-66 fell (jumped or was pushed?) & landed on an east-bound vehicle on I-66. The driver of the vehicle died, whereas the man who fell is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. This was reported to news outlets by the Virginia State Police. That overpass of 66 is between Nutley Street and the Beltway. News story here: http://www.nbcwashington

It's disappointing, but not surprising, that almost anything posted on this site will bring out people to hate on blacks, hate on immigrants, hate on cops, hate on gays, hate on this group or that. Helping police locate the suspects and the car that was carjacked is the goal here. It's disgraceful and counterproductive to turn this into a hate-fest.

I also liked Chesapeake Bay Seafood House, Bennigans, Carlos O'Kelly's, and Don Pablos. I ate at a Tysons Bennigans on Greensboro Drive near International Drive about 3 or 4 months ago. Good food and service, but it was deserted at night. My wife and I wondered how it could stay open. It could not stay open. Google lists that Tysons Bennigans as permanently closed. Shakey's Pizza in Annandale and Tysons. Not great, but pretty good buffets. Sizzler, Po' Folks, and Black-eyed Pea in Fairfax City, although IIRC both Sizzler and Black-Eyed Pea also had outlets in Bailey's Crossroads. Tom Sarris' (sp?) Orleans House in Rossalyn. This was known for prime rib and a tremendous salad bar. Barnaby's in Vienna. Home of the "old world grinder," basically a sub sandw
