Lake Barcroft was originally created as a reservoir for the Alexandria Water Company, which constructed a dam impounding the Tripps and Holmes Run near the old Barcroft Mill starting in 1913. In 1950, with the completion of its first dam on the Occoquan River imminent, Alexandria Water put the reservoir and the surrounding property up for sale. It was purchased and developed into the Lake Barcro

The cops are pretty confident that the shooter was 23-year-old aspiring rapper* Yohannes Nessibu, but he's fled to Ethiopia and there's no extradition for citizens, as I mentioned in an earlier post. That's the former Northern Virginia Training Center. It was a residential facility for the seriously mentally handicapped that closed last year, after having been open for a touch over 40 years. (It opened in 1973 as the Northern Virginia Training Center for the Mentally Retarded, but lost the latter part of that appellation in the early 90s, IIRC.) The commonwealth sold the 78-acre site to Eric

I prefer to rely on half-assed research rather than speculation, so I looked up the victims' names on the Prince William County General District Court Web site. If I've got the right two people, then Gregory Le'Shai Dennis and Ryan Jonathan Cross were both black. More interestingly, both men were also on deferred disposition for possession of marijuana, which may be why there's speculation that

Even with all the shenanigans about trading the Hoover Building site to a developer, it still had a $2 billion price tag. I am curious as to wha
