yes where is that jiffy lube? they are known to DAMAGE VEHICLES severely (oil too high)

dealer? in fx co they are now all f'ing illegals (some married to fx co gov workers - not a coincidence). they'd rather see your car go up in flames and get the work. i'm %100 sure they are apt to leave un-noticed damage during repairs to cause repairs later

-------------------------------------

the oil fact is:

it's quick to do and must be done by "someone trusted"

you can't trust them to do it - dealers wont let you even see your mechanic anymore*

it should be slighly LESS than at the top mark after getting off a long drive on the highway (at it's hottest, that means atf too)

you should never see it right up to *any* line that's inviting leaking seals and engine damage

maximum means maximum and they say so

unless you request and ansist upon choosing ... but they may feed you crap and tell you to leave THESE DAYS (in the past - never)

the oil fact is:

today, all hazards considered, you SHOULD do it yourself to save yourself time wasted upon crooked local gov, illegals, intentful damage, wonton damage, etc

it's just faster and easier to do a quick job quick and right without searching and paying for someone else to do it

Dulles Flyer cabs run NAPA oil and they go 500,000 miles or more on one engine. That proves that it is good oil.

That is true. synthetic oil is a scam.

My girlfriend had her oil changed at Merchants and they cross-threaded the drain plug. Now I do it for her and have always changed the oil in my own vehicles myself. That way I know it is done right and I know what kind of oil and filter is going in it. I use Wix or Napa Gold filters, or Purolator Pure 1 in a pinch.

I learned how to change oil when I was about 11 or 12 years old. It's not difficult, but getting to some filters can be tricky. It takes less than 15 minutes, and if you don't need to jack the vehicle up you would be finished before anyone in a townhouse even knew what you were up to.

That's a good point oilcan. I have a 4runner and the oil filter is up top. I can change the oil in my townhouse parking lot in about 15 minutes with no need to raise the vehicle. I use valvoline or NAPA oil most of the time. I think the most important thing is just changing the oil rather than what kind of oil.

Walmart oil and walmart super tech oil filters are all you need. 17 bucks total.

Both my cars are over 210,000 and Ive always changed the oil myself. Mobil 1 is what I use because the additives last a lot longer than conventional oils. I forget to change it quite often - sometimes I go 10k between changes. Never much mattered with the Mobil 1. I use Mahn filters.

Another thing is, if you want to know what is going on with your car change your own oil. You get to observe all kinds of things while messing around in there. You get to check all the fluid levels, belts etc. My mercedes I dont even have to go under the vehicle I just pump the oil out from under the hood and the filter is up there too. My Volvo I have to grovel under the vehicle to remove the filter - I dont care for that but its only twice a year. Last year I spotted torn CV boots long before the joints were damaged so I just put new boots on and saved a thousand bucks.

Also those fucks at the mechanics over torque the oil bolt every single time - fuckers.

If you change oil frequently you might get away with using an inexpensive brand of oil, but don't go bottom-dollar on the filter. Napa Gold or Wix are ok, even Purolator Pure 1 in a pinch is not very expensive.

If a car sits for long periods of time without being driven it still needs regular oil changes and synthetic is definitely better in that situation because traditional dino oil turns acidic.

many stores don't cary it but the best kind for most cars is "ENERGY CONSERVING"

note CAREFULLY that the API rating institute is a total shamrock. they only sell rating labels, they do not do a thing about what the rating means or enforcement

the "ENERGY CONSERVING" rating is a Texas additive, patented that will give you %5-%10 better gas mileage GUARANTEED (by me)

* just rub it between your fingers you'll feel instantly it's far more slippery than conventional oil

* you'll notice your engine starts up and runs smoother just a little

* you will save gas

nigger area stores don't carry it anymore. they buy the cheapest shit and mark it up high

HOWEVER "energy conserving" is required for many newer cars - even voids the warranty if not used

(synthetic is a tradeoff - it is NOT as slick but does "last longer" - it's perfect for applications of heavier use that might "burn the oil" with higher heat. for most cars, "energy conserving" is worth it and the best choice)

Even regular walmart oil and super tech oil filters are good for 10k miles.

Synthetic motor oil is the biggest scam since SeaFoam was invented. There is NO chemical test that can distinguish conventional motor oil from "synthetic" OH, and BITOG is an idiot.

not true the additives last longer in full synthetic. The oils are very similar and you dont need Mobil 1 at all. If you go up to a year or 10k mi between changes use synthetic.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYkg0oDUXs8

cheap fuckers, what does good oil cost? Maybe the cost of a tank of gasoline. You fill your car twice a week with gas but wont spend the same amount of money twice a year to protect your 7000 dollar engine. That is madness. Mobil 1 twice a year with a mann filter. Put shit in your car and your might save 50 bucks a year big deal.

Wow! that really proves it. Fram uses a tensioned piece of flat metal instead of a real bypass spring. Looks like the walmart brand filter is much better quality and costs less.

Topsiders are fine if you have to change the oil in the dead of winter once in a while. Topsiders should not be used on a regular basis.
