What do you think the difference will be between Bush and Katrina vs Obama and Isaac?

There are many differences, but the main one will be Jindal. Jindal is a competent Governor and will get things done. Bush's hands were tied by the incompetence of Blanco.

Obama will try and take credit for a smooth and orderly evacuation, but it will be readily obvious that Jindal will be in charge of the situation.

Another difference is that Issac will be far less intense at landfall. Katrina hit as a category 3 (almost a 4) while Isaac will make landfall as a category 1. That is a big difference.

Finally, Katrina was a learning opportunity and hopefully, the citizens and government learned some valuable lessons. Those lessons will be put to use this time around.

Something that will NOT be different this time is that Democrats will use a natural disaster where people will be suffering to score political points. No matter the outcome, Democrats will seek to take advantage of the situation.

No Superdome this time -

Currently, New Orleans has no plans for evacuation. That does not mean that the city is not prepared, if anything Mayor Mitch Landrieu is more prepared than ever.

In a lesson on learning from mistakes, Landrieu said, “We are much, much better prepared structurally than before. If you are called upon, you should leave.”

New Orleans, who was practically blindsided by Katrina’s devastation in 2005, is no longer offering the airport, convention center or the Superdome as last resort shelters.

True and I think Katrina was a 12 foot storm surge, Isaac is expected to be a surge of 7-12 also.

A good response to whatever happens in LA, AL, MS will bode well for Obama. It will certainly give him a boost for people who may be undecided in those areas. This is the major disaster this Administration has been waiting for, to show they are prepared and ready to help. This will either show FEMA has its act together now, or that it is still a screwed up organization. I am going to go with screwed up.

We either vote to continue the path to socialism or we do not. Americans have become lazy and dependent on the government to run their lives. They dont mind a substandard living as long as they dont have to pay for it or make tough decisions.

The election is going to be a repeat of 2008. Nobody is changing their vote.

I voted for McCain last time and I am going to vote Obama this time. I can't stand Romney and Ryan.

I'm sure Romney will pause during his speech for a moment of silent prayer for Obama and all the DNC attendees that will actually be where the hurricane lands.

Buses are already moving people out of low areas. Army corp says pumps are ready, but that's a shitload of water to move.

New Orleans could be without power for a week.

81,000 without power in Florida and that was a not in even in the path of Isaac.
