During the 1980s a family member of mine (who was earning six figures plus commission) used the same cell phone for well over 5+ years. He did not feel the constant need to upgrade to the latest model every single time one was released. He could have easily done so had he wanted to but chose not to.

Fast forward 25 years into the future....

Today people constantly feel the need to own the latest technology gadgets on the market. Six months after buying something, they are already shopping again to replace what they just bought a few months ago.


When did people become so fucking trendy that they absolutely must buy the latest cell phone/gadget on the exact same day it is released in stores?

If people want to wait in line, overnight, in the rain, who gives a shit. Some people like new stuff, some like old stuff, some can wait, some can't.

No. Fuck You Motherfucker. His cell phone looked just like this one. He had it for most of the 1980s and kept using it well into the early 1990s.

Point is there were no new models being released every day and you allege your relative is exercising some sort of self-control, when the real reason is a) it is hard to buy something or be tempted to buy when nothing exists to buy, and b) 25 years later his family is comprised of morons.

I'm young and make good money. I have a Macbook Pro and a $5,000 Maingear gaming PC. It's not my fault I graduated with good grades, job offers and signing bonuses up the wazoo. I'm not going to wait in line for the iPhone 5, but if I wanted one, no problem.
