There is only one Meade fan, Meade himslef. However, the Meade fan contigent consists of several of his many alter egos posting as individual fans.

Oh my fucking god dude, I know how you fucking feel. My friends say I'm high all the time, one reason because of the music I listen to. But my good man, that is good music taste right there! If you are into the house/techno/dance/inspirational scene from the 80s/90s there are some really fabolous channels on YT. I sometimes find myself glued to the screen when I should be studying, but that's how I get sometimes lol.

A great one

There are two that are currently tied for first place on my list

the first is

Also, I remember I made a music topic like this before but that one is old so I don't mind a fresh start.

No offense, but all this early 90s British techno sounds like a soundtrack for a corporate trade show video.

Ha! One of the vids I was going to post this morning was Cheap Trick, but I posted the Dead Kennedys instead.

Cheap Trick was great. They made some big mistakes in the late 80's when they made that awful ballad into a hit and then started releasing covers of Beatles and Elvis tunes, but their early stuff was excellent. I saw them play a show at Inner Harbor 5-6 years ago, they still sounded really tight, good show. Hard to believe those dudes are like 60 now.

The Flame. That was truly awful.

Yeah, I've been hearing more Cheap Trick on the radio lately. I think people are rediscovering them. Their sound is probably more in tune with the times now than it was in the late 70s. Great band that hit at the wrong time.

Ha! Britny Fox. Just about the time all hair metal bands became indistinguishable from each other. Kind of like all those guys out there now who sound like Jack Johnson but I couldn't tell you their names.

Hooray Beta Band! I saw them in Cleveland in 2001 when they were touring with Radiohead. The lead singer really seemed to like the word "Ohio" -- he kept just randomly saying it, and at the end of "Dry the Rain" he replaced the "I... need... love" line with "O.... hi..... o." He must have been so high.

Speaking of Radiohead...

by Rob Horning
No question stumps me more than “What kind of music do you like?” I usually try to beg off with a vague reply—“All kinds of things” or perhaps the far more honest “I don’t know.” Musical taste is a mysterious and intensely private matter, difficult to articulate and impossible to justify. It’s discovered as we listen and if we are concentrating, this is a private matter, felt directly, and it doesn’t require any social mediation.

So when I contemplate that question, I know it isn’t really about the music and that private satisfaction that can’t be expressed, that is an experience, a process, rather than an established fact. Rather I’m being asked how I want to define myself: It’s an invitation to mark my place on the taste matrix—lowbrow or highbrow; mainstream or avant-garde—and pull off some basic identity posturing.

Because our taste in music is a widely and readily understood shorthand for identity, we often seek public ways to exhibit it, even though this betrays its origins in that private, inarticulate satisfaction. Why are we so quick to do this? To muddy the joy we derive in hearing music as it is, objectively, by mixing with it all the provisional, mediated characteristics that stem from how it is hyped, how other people regard it, how we’ll be regarded when we champion it? Could it be that without all that extraneous context, there isn’t much there to consume? Are we at some level secretly aware that the intrinsic qualities of the songs we profess to like for no reason other than to please ourselves are not all that deep and sophisticated?

Agreed. That there performance is righteous.

I'll throw out Sonny Landreth - this song kills me everytime I hear it:

Just got tix today to go see The Hold Steady play in Baltimore at the end of the month..... I've seen them twice at the Black Cat and they are really one great rock band... I'm psyched to see them again (i never knew they made goofy vidoes like this)... I predict a very high quotient of hipsters at this concert, lotsa retro scenester t-shirts and horn-rimmed glasses, I wonder if Meade will be there?

How about putting some shit up w/ some Fairfax roots: The band Snot included a former co-worker and friend of mine named Sonny Mayo (Sevendust, hedpe, Amen, Silence etc.) who grew up in the Pimmit Hills area of Fairfax. The earlier local incantation of Snot was MF Pitbulls ( who were brutal), and they would have become huge if Lynn Strait hadn't died in that car wreck. Seeing this band live made you want to wreck shit to the point, that if your own grandma was in the pit, you would give her ass a windmill to the grill and not bat an eyelash as she went down for the count. Over a decade later, this shit still rips!

Wasn't this a song that Ice Cube sampled back in the early 90s?

Good pick.

yes, he was one of a few to sample. But ice cube's was really the only good one. I like the original more though.

Hmmm. I would have to be a little buzzed to hit that. Not bad, but something not quite right.
