No, Kia hasn't released a price yet. It was just released in Korea in May, and it will be available worldwide late 2012/early 2013.

1.) Toyota had a solid reputation for quality when Lexus was introduced. Kia has only very recently produced decent cars.

2.) When Lexus came out in the late 80s, the luxury car market was not nearly as competitive as it is today.

Someone estimated starting at $40k. I think that's a bit too high. But who knows.

Kia as a company has been around since before the Korean War -- a very long time. It is the second largest automaker from Korea.

When Toyota released its Corolla line of cars in the 1970s, Americans weren't interested in small import cars -- then the Gas Crisis hit.

Seriously, people really did poo-poo the idea of a Japanese luxury car. They would ask, "Who would buy a Japanese car for Mercedes Benz prices?" It seemed absurd at the time that the Japanese could make luxury cars when all they had imported to that point were small fuel-efficient cars like Nissan (Datsun), Honda and Toyota.

I have a Lexus. Paid $60K and am very happy with it. It's the wife's car.

I also have a 10-year old GM SUV with over 200K miles on it. It's no longer reliable so I'm replacing it. A new model, as close as I can get, will run
about $55K. For a GM car? No way! For $65K I can get a Mercedes. The
way it's being run, GM may be out of business in a year. MB will not be.
And Cadillac for that reason isn't even on my list of possibilities.

No, I won't consider a Kia at any price.

If the price is at 40k I would rather get an Infiniti G37xS, if it at 30K then maybe it would be worth it

I have had BMWs, and Audis. I got sick of the expensive maintenance costs and the time they had to be in the shop, especially after the 5 year warranty ran out.

I bought my first infiniti about 6 years a go and have never looked back. No maintenace problems, the parts are not expensive, fun to drive. I would say they are about 90% of the driving experience as a BMW but for the cost and maintenance i will take it. I do say that the infiniti have the BEST technology packages that far exceed any import or domestic. Check out the 360 around view cam , no other car comes close to it and it's great for large SUVs.

Koreans will love it! just like they all love the genesis, not a bad looking car.
