Replaced my well worn, 12+ year old Polaris 360 (not the 380) for the Polaris 3900 Sport about 2 years ago.

There was a $200 factory rebate and you can spread the payments out over 3-4 months (interest free) at: http://www.intheswim.com/. Great customer service.

I had a Polaris 180 that lasted 20+ years, replaced it with a Polaris 280 about 5 years ago. Both models work great in my 20'x40' pool so long as I remove the ladder and handrail. Otherwise, they tend to get tangled up.

I've had a robot cleaner and switched to the Polaris 280 and think its a LOT better. Robot cleaners do a great job of cleaning up a messy pool in a couple hours. But their more of a PITA. You have to lift them out (heavy) and take out some type of cartridge to clean. Then the cords always tangle. This sucks. All in all they require more baby sitting.

OTOH, the Polaris Cleaners are nice because you can put them on a timer. I have mine run for an hour a day and my pool is always clean (and there's a lot of tree's around my pool). The bag is external and easier to take off to clean. Every few days I check the bag to make sure its not full.

Only down side to a 280 or 380 is you need a seperate pump (their PRESSURE cleaners) and sometimes, maybe once a season, you need to adjust the cleaner so it does a better job.

This thread is old, but people still have pools :) So, I decided to share my experience. If someone is looking for a good pool cleaner, I recommend to read the reviews on the Internet like that one on https://intexpoolpumps.org/best-vacuum-for-intex-pools. It is very convenient as you can compare several cleaners and find out the answers to the frequently asked questions on one page. Having read it, I chose Pentair Kreepy Krauley cleaner and I haven't regretted my choice. I hope this info will be useful for someone!

Be like Trump. Use the Wetback IA 8DPH. You hire an illegal alien (IA) to clean your pool for 8 Dollars Per Hour (8DPH). If they don't work out, just fire them and go down to 7-11 and hire a new one. Kind of like leasing a car only you don't get attached. Their wives make good housekeepers too.
