I've been to too many restaurants and bars that are packed and then out of business a few months later. It comes down to management. Profit margins are razor thin in the restaurant business. You can have a packed house every night and go belly up if you have a lot of waste (like giving away too much free booze) and mismanagement (like giving away too much free booze). In fact, booze is a restaurant's reliable profit center, so when you see one comping booze and offering ridiculous drink specials, they probably won't be around for long.

To say nothing of running afoul of the Virginia ABC. O'Meara's had a list of violations longer than your arm.

Problem for me is so many restaurant/bars around Northern Virginia overcharge(imo) for the slop they call food. Never have fully understood the food versus booze ratios that bars in Va. have to adhere to. They don't have same or similar requirements in D.C. and Maryland do they?
