The comments of company President Dan Cathy about gay marriage to Baptist Press on Monday have ignited a social media wildfire.
"Guilty as charged," Cathy said when asked about his company's support of the traditional family unit as opposed to gay marriage.
"We are very much supportive of the family - the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that," Cathy is quoted as saying.
Strong feelings of support and disagreement have followed, making Chick-fil-A the top Google trend on Thursday morning as the company's Facebook and Twitter pages were burning up with arguments.

Oh, whatever. I love Chic-Fil-A. Its the only halfway decent healthy fast food there is. I love their spicy chicken sandwich. The fact that they don't support the pervs, only means support from me!

Why can't people be supportive of traditional marriage and let others live their lives as well?
A real Christian would know that judging others is God's domain.
What did Jesus supposedly say.."Let he who is without sin throw the first stone"?

If two guys get married, does that affect your marriage any more than when dudes cheat on their wives or ladies run off with the milkman?

People pay taxes to fund wars they aren't okay with.
I don't agree with ethanol, but the government provides incentives to farmers for it.
As for Chik-Fil-A, if it gets to a point where the Supreme Court determines partners in Gay marriages get the same benefits as straight couples, Chik-Fil-A is going to have to be okay with it when it comes to employee benefit packages. Otherwise, tough shit.

Anyway, I don't think the owners' belief in marriage should even matter; it's not like customers go to Chik-Fil-A to get their approval. They go there to get food. It's like caring what an actor says about politics - pointless.

I think the point being made is that in this country people are forced to be okay with things they don't like all of the time. People shouldn't have to lose their rights because someone else isn't "okay" with it.

The business can take whatever position they want as long as they're not violating any laws. If this is how Chick-fil-a wants to run things, that's their prerogative. I can't imagine a lot of gay people will take the issue to court to fight for their right to be allowed to serve people chicken sandwiches for a conservative Christian fast food franchise.

It isn't the opinion of Dan Cathey that is the issue. It's what they do with the money that they get from you that's the issue. They give big donations to organizations that are against gay rights. So if you spend money at CFA it's like YOU are donating to anti-gay causes. I think most people agree that Dan Cathay is entitled to his opinion, but he isn't entitled to use my money to fight against causes that I believe in. And while I will miss those chicken sandwiches and lemonaid, the waffle fries are the 2nd worst fries in fast food (Wendy's is the #1 worst). At least we are getting a Zaxby's soon, so I will be back in Chickentown soon.

I have to agree. Wendy's fries took a big fucking nosedive when they changed over to the natural cut, un-circumsized version. I used to really like their fries. Now I just order the sandwich and a drink. If I see their fries - I just wanna beat somebody's ass.
Chik-Fil-Anus food has always sucked - all of it. Their waffle fries - I can't even look at them. They are indeed the worst.
Burger King fries suck too. So do Five Guys fries.
Roy Rogers had great fries. Wendy's fries used to be pretty decent.
As for homosexual causes and fast food - Hats off to you for boycotting.
