Verizon Fios Data Throttling and Slow Your Internet Speeds

Apparently everyone doesn't realize that the internet speeds that you currently have with Verizon Fios are like 1% of what they should be.

Fiber Optic Cables are capable of 10-15 GB/s data transfer however the avg household has 30 mb/s. And you thought that only cell phone carriers are data throttling?

But that is how they makke their money. Verizon throttles speed to the amount that you pay for. Fiber optics can certainly deliver better speeds than 30 mb/s.

You are correct and wrong, Verizon can provide a ton more bandwidth to your home, but that bandwidth is only good for Verizon's network. So you'll get 10gb/s to your neighbors house but sites that are not on Verizon network like Youtube, Google, Netflix, will most defiantly not be 10gb/s. I would say we are at least 10 years away from everything being that fast.

The OP is a fucking idiot.

The fiber optic topography deployed by Verizon in the last mile is not capable of 10-15Gbs. The max upload speed is limited to 1.2Gbs and download is limited to 2.4Gbps. This upload and download bandwidth is shared amongst 32 subscribers. This averages out to 75Mbps down and 37.5Mbps up per each subscriber. As it stands today, Verizon will be soon oversubscribing the "last mile" of its FiOS network.

In addition, they're not even really "throttling." You pay for a certain level of service. They deliver that level of service. You want faster, you pay more. You don't want to pay more, then you take the lower-speed service and pay less. Simple.

Throttling is an entirely different matter.

They don't offer the faster speeds so it is throttling...And Fiber Optics arre capable of 10-15 GB/S however Verizon isn't necessarily capable of providing those speeds.

It all depends on lay uniformity however the speed capabilities are out there.

Yes, you are clueless.

https://www22.verizon.com/home/fiosinternet/#plans

And they just recently announced 300/65 Mbps service.

What fiber is capable of is irrelevant. You're not buying dedicated lit or dark fiber. You're buying Internet service at a certain speed at a certain cost.

Now if you were whining about them slowing your connection because you were exceeding some threshold, that would be throttling.

Still too slow. I want 10 gb/s . i will bring back erols internet offering faster speeds at the same price and monopolize verizon off the market. Fiber is cheaper and faster... just don't bend the wires. I'm gonna pwn Verizon.

Thats bullshit.
South Korea has no throttling and all users get normal 100mbit LAN speeds or better.

USA is being choke because of greed.

Throttling my ass...

I pay for 30/30. My ONT is old (5+ years). It maxes out at 27Mbps on uploads so I suffer a little.

South Korea is the size of Virginia. USA is HUGE so naturally it would take a lot longer for the USA to get the same amount of bandwidth to all users.

I also guarantee you that a home 100mb/s connection in south Korea does not have a 100mb/s connection to a server in the USA. It's all relative. Be lucky someone in the USA even started putting Fiber to the HOME.

Most of the idiots bitching can't find South Korea on a map, let alone have any idea of its size and population.
