What happened to jolly fat people

All the fat people I see now, and that is a lot in Fairfax, are nasty. Fat people used to be funny and were ok making fun of their weight. Now they demand special privleges in restaurants and seating on airplanes and movies. They insist they are handicapped and should park up front when all they really are is fat.

They're not jolly anymore because they realized they're fat.

The reason fat people aren't jolly any more is they all read the article in the July 2006 article of the Archives of General Psychiatry that said they were supposed to be depressed and moody.

What's more interesting to me is where the idea that fat people were supposed to be jolly originated. I have a theory that it's rooted in the archaic theories of humorism and their relation to temperaments.

Being fat, historically, was a sign of wealth and priviledge. That's also why old paintings of women portray them as chubby.

In modern times, being able to devote time and energy to the gym and eating organic soy stuff is considered a sign of wealth and priviledge.

The fatties will have their day again. Everything goes in cycles.
