Do women notice a guy's expensive watch?
Posted by: tick tock ()
Date: June 06, 2012 03:00PM

I was hoping for some input to settle a disagreement. Do you think women notice if a guy is wearing an expensive watch?

I have a freind who just bought a watch for several thousand dollars - I never heard of the brand but it's obviously a nice watch. He claims women notice things like that. I think he could have spent $150 on a nice but fairly cheap watch and achieved the same look.

Any opinions?

They notice a hot body. Forget the watch and hit the gym.

Women in this area are a joke for dating.

1. No hot body, forget about having a chance.
2. No money, forget about having a chance.

This area is horrible for dating becuase of the affluence attached to this area.

Now, if you wanted to pay for a chance then, YES, you would get the chance. Oh yeah, they are whores in this area.

No doubt. Nobody would pay more than $100 for one if they didn't.

They all tell perfectly good time these days (it used to be "expensive" ones told better time), and given the fact that everbody's cell phone or smart phone has perfectly good time on it, nobody really needs a watch, or a watch that costs anything anymore.

Do it for the ladies.

Hello, um... tick tock? Women never recognize expensive watches unless maybe, you are attending Polo matches in Middleburg. They do (no bs!) always notice the quality of a man's shoes without fail. Spend your cash on higher end dress and casual leather footwear... skip the watch.

I've never heard a woman make a comment about a watch, positive or negative. I think the only way a woman would know or care is if she's really, really into high fashion or is some sort of watch afficiando.

Watches are really nothing more than accessories these days. You'd be better off with a diamond pinkie ring or one of those big shiny hip-hop necklaces.

No, we don't. And why would we? I wouldn't know a Rolex from a Timex, and neither would I care. If a woman cares about the kind of watch a guy wears, then that is a BIG RED WARNING SIGN to the guy.

As long as you dress nicely, groom yourself, and don't smell (bad), then you should be good to go. Of course, if you look like Quasimodo...but that's a different issue.

He's right...wear a bull ring in your nose like Mephisto and you'll draw way more attention from quality women!

and the eyes. Ladies notice the eyes first thing. If you are a single guy, go to the cosmetics counter at a department store and get some good eye cream. It will be worth the money. Puffy and baggy eyes are not forgivable to women over say 26.

no one cares about the watch or the car. piercings and too many tatoos are noticed and repulsive. better to be plain, groomed, well mannered, intelligent (not to be confused with falsely educated) and genuine.

It might count, Watches are more bling now than actual timepieces. I remember a couple of years ago asking a guy with a Rolex for the time of day, and he pulled out his cellphone to give me the info. I was a bit surprised.

What was it? I would notice a Breitling; I think it's a very manly watch.

Maybe back in the day, but not so much now since hardly anyone wears them. Besides, a woman can tell by your clothes, hair, etc, if you have money or not. Wearing a Snoopy wife beater and a $500 refurbished Rolex won't fool the ladies.

High Maintenance ones notice that shit, for REALS!

You can be scum of the earth but you get yrself nice car, nice suit, nice watch, and you can "play the part" you can get yrself women (or men if that's what yr into) left and right.
But they wont be "real" they'll be fake as shit.
But if that's what you are after, then yeah a nice watch will attract them like flies to dogshit.
Now you HAVE to make it an ensamble. A good watch just wont do it yr wearing Walmart Levis and a Salavation Army T-shirt, y'dig?

Of course a real snobby woman that wanted to bag herself a rich guy would weed out all the ones that wear watches with quartz movement.

She would also be on the lookout for men that laugh at the Omegas, Tag Heuers, and Rolexes and instead wear something like a Patek Philippe or Ulysse Nardin.

Here's what I've noticed. Women like nice eyes, humor, honesty, bold(but not an ass), nicely groomed and ... wait for it... they seem to notice nice SHOES.

I have no idea why shoes are so important to women.

I do pay attention to both watch and shoes. An antique (your granpa or daddy's) watch impresses me more than new one. High quality shoes last longer with proper maintenance. To make it short, I like man who cares his personal belongings.

Of course women notice watches.

Women notice 3 things when you walk up:

1. do you look the part (old money vs. new money vs. broke)

2. do you sound the part:
a. do you have multi-generational family money? are you in the social register?
b. did you go to one of the big or little Iveys and do you have a professional degree/ position in big-law or i Banking that would support a normal family.

3. If you have to work, are you one of those types that is at least building a passive income stream? Could you at least survive a few years of downturn? Are you stable?

All of these questions begin to be answered at the clothing/ attire level. If I meet someone, I pretty much know within 5 seconds if they are on the same social tier as me. A decent watch is just one such indicator. BTW: a Rolex is such a common and generic watch, that I would automatically assume that the person wearing it was a poor social climber.

Shoes yes. Watch no.

Buy at least "hand grade" shoes. John Lobb, Crockett Jones, Edward Green.

These are shoes that can cost more than your friend's watch.

Women notice a guy's face and body, and maybe his house. That is about it. Anything else such as watch, clothes, car, etc. is an up-or-down vote, pass-or-fail. Usually anything will pass unless it's a broken swatch taped together -- women simply don't give a shit.

Not sure about the watch, but damn it if I can't stop and watch the Invicta Channel and say, "Oh yes, I need that watch."

I don't where watches because I use my phone. I do have two Invicta watches and I've never had any women make comments about them. I've had more comments on my shoes.

Shoes are also an up-or-down vote for most women.

This part of the country is somewhat unique as more people wear watches because they work in vaults/SCIFs and don't have a phone handy.

Well, some women notice, some even wear cool watches. People have different tastes and no doubt some of them fall for watches. I myself adore this accessory. On us.jowissa.com I happened to buy a couple of them. I find them awesome.

Most women wouldn't make a distinction other than "nice" or not. A basic pair of $100-$200 shoes is probably going to look "nice" so long as they are in good condition. Pretty much no one but you is going to know even if you are wearing a pair of custom bespoke lasted shoes made for your own feet.
