When does it become ridiculous?

I think that as long as it is done in moderation (or at least doesn't interfere in one's ability to work and have positive relationships), one should play video games until they no longer want to play video games.

In other words, guys should never give up video games.

Dude, you need to power your way through Portal and get to Portal 2 ASAP. It's one of about five games I've played in my life where, upon completion, I started right back over at the beginning. The writing was just that brilliant.

I started with the Assassin's Creed series at "Brotherhood," and it bothers me that I haven't played the first games. I would, but there's apparently like 20 of them and you don't necessarily need to play them to keep up with the storyline.

Theres like 5 max so far. you dont need to have played them but the story makes more sense if you have.

I used to play Madden and I play Call of Duty now. I usually play about an hour in the evening after the kids are in bed. As long as it doesn't take over your life, I don't think it's an issue.

She bought me a game system a few years ago and periodically buys me new games, so I guess she is okay with it. About half the guys I know my age play video games, so I'm not sure why it would be an issue.

I play games in spurts. When I'm on a binge, I'll play a game of NCAA football, NHL, or CoD maybe once an evening to decompress. Ocassionally, I'll buy a game like Gears of War that I'll play for an hour or so a day until I beat it. GoW 3 was the last game that I bought, if that says anything. I may get a used copy of Batman Arkham City to keep me occupied for a few days, but meh, I'm not in any rush.

As long as your not neglecting any responsibilities, who cares how one spends their free time. Also, most people 40 and under grew up with game systems so to continue playing as an adult isn't a big deal.

Steam has an Assassin's Creed franchise sale going on right now. AC 1, AC 2, AC: Brotherhood, and AC: Revelations for $45.

It's for PC, though. I wasn't going to play the first couple games in my build-up to AC: 3, but getting the three games I don't have for the price of one? When I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

I enjoyed the game Bad Dudes. The arcade version was much better than the NES version. Ninjas kidnapped the president.

Used to play comp. games every so often, but never hardcore. Got sucked into Planetside and played that for 8 years or so. SoE is coming out with a sequel and some of the footage looks incredible, but their development path is not sitting well with some of the old original beta and release players. They are pandering to the nubcakes. If you played PS and read the official forums, you will know what I am talking about.

I got into it at work as I worked in military simulation and Planetside was the first MMO FPS. WWII Online was around before, but that is more like a simulator than a FPS. One of the studies I helped out on was looking at comp. games to see how they could supplement training. Games like Operation flashpoint and America's Army ended up as simulators used by the military. There are some others, but those are easy one's of the top of my head.

One thing I was totally hooked on was combat flight simulators - both standalone and interactively with (hundreds of) others. When a CH Pro Throttle I had started going wacky on me I stopped playing and, strangely, never started back up again - at the time the PC world had/was switched to USB controllers rather than "game port" controllers so all my various controls (pedal, throttle, joystick) became obsolete.

I'm still considering getting a new setup and doing it again, though, since it was literally hours and hours of outrageous fun.
