The beauty of this poll is that they called back the same people that they called the week before so they could measure the affect of the gay marriage support that Obama embraced much more precisely. A 5 point swing. And that's in a poll that oversamples democrats. The real damage is probably an 8 - 10 point swing. Ouch.

Barry got some very bad advice. When millions are scratching around for a job, any job he worries that gays cant get married. While gay marriage may be first on George Looneys list it is far removed from any list by the flyover Americans.

But that is not how polls work. If they did, they would be sent to poll taker prison.

This is a NYT poll so you can just imagine they added about ten points to Obama to begin with. Bad news for the free stuff crowd.

How do the polls work? I mean... how do they select who they call? Are they limited to landlines? I remember that once upon a time, telemarketers weren't allowed to call cell phone numbers because the subscriber could incur costs. If that is still true, does it apply to polls? And if it applies to polls, how do they get a balanced group to complete the polls? I have a lot of friends that don't have a landline... I haven't had one in years. And it seems to me, younger people (and people without kids), who MAY be more likely to be liberal, are less likely to have a landline.

Here's how it works...

When they're in Obama's favor, then they're gospel. Infallible. 100% representative.

When they're in Romney's favor, there must be some problem and people post theorires about landlines, etc., etc.

Its actually good advise and just shows what a failure he has been. He HAS to try and turn this election into some social issue and desperately try and create issues that are completely irrelevant to this election in order to get the focus off the economy and his record.

He CANNOT run on his track record and if he cant create a new issue and get the focus off of him and what hes done and onto some hypotehtical issues where he can preach a bunch of BS like in 08 he loses.

I cant even imagine he would try to run on his economic record. He does take credit for GM which couldnt help but do good considering the taxpayer money Obama gave them. But Ford had a much better recovery and they didnt take a dime in bailout money so it kind of cancels out his claim to saving GM.

GM was poorly run and way over their head in worker benefits after being hijacked by the unions. Only Obamas infusion of huge amounts of money saved it from bankruptcy. The government should not be in the business of saving badly managed companies with taxpayer dollars.

Dingle Barry is playing a game of distract and blame.

Talking about ANYTHING but economics.

And when he talks about economics, it's to badmouth Mitt for being a corporate guy- all while ignoring Obama's own relationship with Wall St, Jon COrzine etc etc...

GM will be back in the same position at some time in the future since they never really changed anything.

Hes been nothing more than a celebrity president to this point and it really seems thats all he has to offer. He has a fundamental misunderstanding about how things really work and why the economy is responding how it has. Which really isnt surprising considering his picks for heads of things. Even some of his Czars are starting to turn on him economically.

But until the election we will continue to see more of him just trying to deflect off of real issues and create issues that he can turn on the charm with his hypothetical rethortic. His campaign will be nothing more than a slight of hand magic act where he distracts attention away from what is really happening to meaningless things pulling the wool over whoevers eyes want to be covered.

Perhaps you should try that with someone that is claiming the polls are biased instead of someone asking how they counter that type of issue to create balanced polls.

It's pretty clear that Romney is a religious conservative that would rather see women cranking out babies and staying at home. Even Romney's wife thinks being a stay at home mom is the correct place for a woman. She clearly spoke out on the issue.

It doesn't matter. The issue is on the economy and the economy is doing better under Obama than Bush.

Nothing like insulting every stay at home mom around the country.

The left doesnt want stay at home moms, they want women like Julia who have to be supported by the government their whole life and cant do anything on their own so when they retire they can work at a community garden.

After all if they can help themselves the left loses some of its voting base

To accurately predict election results, you have to choose an appropriately balanced representative sample.

"Likely voters" are better (produce more accurate results) than "registered voters," although registered voters are a more accurate indicator than adults.

Next, the sample should try to accurately reflect the likely turnout of Democrat, Republican, and Indepedent voters. If a poll oversamples Democrats or Republicans, its predictive value will be reduced (although its propaganda value may be increased!).

Similarly, to achieve maximum accuracy the poll should seek to reflect gender, age and geographic differences among the electorate.

In a presidential poll, the central question is so straightforward - "Who do you plan to vote for, Obama or Romney?" - that there's not a lot of room for game-playing.

But in more opinion-oriented polls, the way a question is asked can have a huge effect on the outcome; and there is no doubt but that many pollsters will deliberately frame a question in a way that will give them the polling results they want, to help them advance their political agenda.

In a 2003 NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, the question was asked: "Which of the following best represents your views about abortion -- the choice of an abortion should be left up to the woman and her doctor, abortion should only be legal in cases when pregnancy results from rape or incest or when the life of the woman is at risk, or abortion should be legal in all circumstances?"

The answers showed that 53% of the public felt abortion was a decision best left up to the woman and her doctor. Only 15% felt it should be illegal in all circumstances, with 29% want to have exceptions. Thus, a majority appeared to support abortion rights for women.

Compare that result to a poll earlier that year by Fox News/Opinion Dynamics: "Once a woman is pregnant, do you believe the unborn baby or fetus should have all the rights as a newborn baby?" Nearly 60% of the public said yes, the unborn fetus should have the same rights as a newborn baby. Only 26% said no. According to this poll, a strong majority wants to protect the rights of the unborn.

So what is the American position on abortion? Clearly, the answer depends on the wording of the question, specifically on whether respondents are asked to focus on the rights of women or the rights of the unborn.

Absolutely love the way the republicans are running around like little ants in this campaign season. Goes to show that Romney is such a weak candidate with a weak platform.

And if you get the truth from women they would prefer to stay at home and take it easy while the husband deals with the working world hell. I have heard it from many of my female co workers they want a guy to support them and ditch the 9-5 shit. These are women who have good careers and make 100k a year. They are just trying to figure out how to keep their upper middle class lifestyle on one income.

This does not include the dykes who want to be out there showing the men who has a bigger dick.
