Robb doesn't like Bob's Burgers because it is extremely subtle humor 90% of the time. The other 10% are Gene's fart jokes. He said he has the same problem with Adventure Time, and it is likely for the same reason, though Adventure Time falls into the surreal comedy more often.
Robb loves schtick. So the more heavy handed the jokes, the better...hence watching shows like iCarly. All of the Nick shows are super heavy handed, and it works for their audience. He raves about "The Middle" which I like too from time to time, but it is also not subtle in any way.
And yes, Mike is an awful interviewer. I have pointed to his screw up in his interview with Colin Hanks before.
But Mike is still in the radio mindset of "Interviews mean less time I have to fill myself, so I can just let the guest take over the show for a while." And when he gets guests who are either on to that (Like I wager Posehn was) or are not used to interviews (Like the Naked and Afraid girl) it all tanks.

It's more shame than anything else. In his delusional mind, remember, TMOS is a daily radio show that he's been doing for 30 years. To air on the radio Monday- Friday, ideally live, they'll even throw the breaks in their for radio stations to cut away from!
He can't break out of that mindset. There's no reason for the daily format, but then again there's no reason to cling to a tight schedule every day of how long it lasts, but they do that too anyways.
Same thing with not admitting Friday is taped. It would be too shameful and admit defeat if he doesn't change shirts and act like it's a whole new day. Because it's a daily radio show, dammit!
(Just ignore the fact it's not anywhere on the radio except in Iowa on an AM station)

If there's a Rupert Pupkin in this situation, it is Robb. He was an untalented, unlikeable stalker fanboy who weaseled his way onto D&M. For most of his time there, he was a glorified gofer. Whenever he was given a shot to move up, he failed. When he was put on mic, he barely lasted a year. Yet he has these delusions that he was a successful broadcaster and comedic genius despite all evidence to the contrary. At least in the movie, Jerry Lewis had enough sense to try to get away from his Rupert. Mike has embraced his, to his own detriment.

O'Meara worked in radio for more than thirty years, including a stint on "The Don and Mike Show," a very successful program that ran on dozens of stations from Maine to California.
But radio changed and so did Mike, who now does a daily podcast from his summer home in Hancock, just east of Ellsworth.
