Stern will be back. For the fame. For the money. And for the chance to have douchebags like Les Moonves kiss his ass and thank their lucky stars he's back.

God I hope your right. It is hilarious just thinking about it.

Just think about the possibilities. He could make another movie. And it would be great if he had AC/DC play in Central Park again too.

I think the Les Moonves kissing his ass part would be his greatest motivation. His entire career he has been battling these assholes. His crowning achievement would be to have the morons finally acknowledge that he was right all along.

But what does that get him? Sure he can say "I told you so" and get his ass licked every day, but it's still FCC/censorship hell with 30 minutes worth of commercials an hour. At his age, it's probably not worth the hassle and it'd be a better justification if he could stay with satellite and make regular radio impotent.

I don't think I could listen to a neutered Howard Stern Show after having the unbridled entertainment it has been these last 4 years.

so ever since wjfk flipped formats ive been lookin to find somethin to replace it with. sure i tried listenin to dukey and LA but i mean theres only that much of jason campbell and the front defensive line that you can talk about.

then i found this thread and i realized that i wasnt really missing out on much with TMOS. caught a couple clips of don and opie & anthony on youtube (damn that was brutal...and he should probably have taken a couple xanax there). i just think that once they got off air in new york don just lost interest. and frieda's death didnt help any. but he sure knew when to call it quits. atleast he can say he wasnt fired.

as for stern, gawd i hope he never ages a bit. i dont know what ill do without the stern show...im totally hooked. a couple people have said he wont leave cuz of the money and the fame...i think thats absolutely right. in his mind, its only his radio show that makes him feel like he's worth something. and i dont think he wants to lose that. in a way he might be scared that he'll lose beth or completely fade away from people's memory.

as for artie, i think its time howard lets him go. he had a good excuse way back when artie called it quits the first time. he aint funny and i would take jackie over him any day. thats not to say that jackie should come back. there should be an infusion of new blood in there. anyway, just thought id add my two cents in here cuz ive been following this thread for a while.

great job you guys! you've definitely kept me in the loop on whats goin on with radio. Thanks!

It is the same old fake energy. They really think their rolling. Who knows if they will figure out a way to convince or better yet dupe enough sponsors and may be beg for donations from listeners to make this thing fly. Hard to put a finger on their longevity now.

I remember Don once reflecting that if he could summarize his strategy of successful, compelling broadcasting in a single sentence, it would be: Act as if as if you're always talking about the Most Important Thing Ever.

I think about that philosophy often, because it is exactly what Mike O'Meara does not do.

How much money would the podcast need to generate to keep these guys rolling? Half a mil? One mil?

Adam Corolla, who has one of the most successful podcasts out there, pays $10K a month just for the bandwidth. He has cut a deal with CBS to help cover part of that cost. He has a national sponsor now, yet he is still losing money on it.

When it becomes apparent to Mike & Company that there is no huge payday from this thing, they are going to drop it. I don't blame them for trying, but they would all be better off pursuing their own career options instead of trying to make a go of this thing.

Actually Adam corolla isnt the most successful podcaster, that would probably be alex jones who has 200,000 downloads a day, and he breaks even by having people subscribe to his website for a small fee...

Corolla's podcast draws more than 2 million downloads a week.

200,000 x 5 < 2 + million.

I'm glad that the Mike O'Meara show is back in some form. I hate it and I know I'll never listen to it but now people will be back writing more funny posts on this Fairfax Underground site. This forum is the best thing going - I've enjoyed reading it since it began and have been able to monitor the demise of Mike O'Meara without having to listen to his show.

I'm hoping to read some predictions on how long the new podcast version will last.

WTL, sage advice - but will MOM ever get the message?

You'd think Buzz and Rob(b) (OK, I'll give Rob(b) credit for moving on to Ioway) would know MOM is a dead-end but it's beyond tough times in radio, and if you get an on air gig you take it. If MOM was offered at gig at 105.whatever, why would he turn it down?

Podcasting ain't gonna make anyone, any money.

A drunk MOM can't carry the ball 5 yards on his drunk, out of touch ass, so he line up dupes as an offensive line. The line should see the QB is too drunk, too lazy, too arrogant, too out-of-touch to make the drive to 'Casa MOM' worth the drive to "Pod Cast".

Let's see if this situation lasts until the new year.

Oh, I'll never listen to the MOM podcast. Conflicts with Ron and Fez on XM202 11am to 3pm.

I don't mind paying for real radio entertainment. MOM should have listened to Ron Bennington while he was @ JFK. The guy seems to know something about presenting a very fucking entertaining radio show. OK, not everyone's cup of tea, but Ronnie B., Fez and boys are being paid.

That ain't happin' at Casa MOM - in the "radio broadcasting center of historic Manassas" or whatever the fuck MOM calls it.

ESAD MOM, on the golf course, and at your podcast.

Enter sasquatch in a backwards baseball cap, pushing a cart of liquor for five out-of-work over-the-hill DJs to drink away their sorrows and talk into a laptop computer from a bed-sheet studio in a Manassas living room: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTwqCpv3AhY&feature=player_embedded

I would say better than 50/50. Especially since it will translate to radio I mean podcast so well

You reminded me of a ratings booster contest Bernie on the Don Imus Show came up with a few years ago while on his am msnbc simulcast. If Imus keeled over dead on air, a portion of his estate would go to the 100 caller.

No. It's about where Mike was. However, unless Michael Hughes fucked the station over with another bad contract, CBS should be paying a lot less for the show than what they were forking over to MoM.

Speaking of MoM, he has resorted to high-tech pan-handling....

O'Meara Wants Donations - 12/16 - Former WJFKer Mike O'Meara, who has just started his own internet podcast, is now asking listeners for financial donations of support. At mikeomearashow.com.....

Pitiful.

Mike needs to do himself and his "crew" a favor. They will be more successful out on their own than trying to keep this pitiful show together. Time for Mike to cut the strings and tell Rob(b) and Buzz that it's time to fend for themselves.

Or.... answer "Eight" question "How many golf balls can Carla fit in her mouth"?

"Now we break for the stations down the line."

Mike needs to quit living in his little fantasy world. There are no "stations down the line." He is posting a podcast that uses twice the bandwidth needed for a podcast in hopes that radio stations will use it.

It Eight Over Until the Fat Mike Sings!

Seriously, though, at what point in this "comeback" master plan did Mike say to Rob(b), "I have an idea! Let's beg for money!"? It's really sad.

And as for these people on DCRTV who are incensed about "Mike the Millionaire" begging for money, I really doubt the guy is very liquid (besides when he is drunk). Donnie G controlled the purse strings on his show, not Mike. Mike was a hired hand. I doubt O'Meara made anywhere near enough to be a "millionaire," especially after going through as many wives, bars and vehicles as he has over the years.

I think Don was just better at investing and not spending than Mike (or, I should say, Freida was). Mike might not have made quite as much as Don, but I bet it wasn't all that significantly less. He made plenty over those years, and figured the show, and him in particular, were an DC area institution and the gravy train would never stop, so no need to worry.

"The Mike O’Meara show exists solely through our sponsors and the generosity of our listeners. If you would like to support the show, please enter the amount you would like to give below and click “donate.” All donations are processed securely through PayPal."

I'll contribute when MoM's list of "sponsors" includes businesses I've heard of, no disrespect to the Cigar Joint on Liberia or Dr. Bruce.

Having seen MoM at his worse in public (golf courses and bars), his arrogant slide into obscurity is as enjoyable as it is inevitable.

Note to Rob(b) and "Buzz": It's time to cut the cord, This mangy puppy of a broadcast enterprise ain't gonna hunt.

And "Buzz", it's curious that a guy with mad, crazy, "voice over" skills is reduced to smelling O'Meara's farts for two hours a day. Can you say "pathetic" in your best baritone?

Geez boys, you ain't workin' for CBS anymore - man up and get real work.

Final thought for today: All involved should have the latest video pulled from YouTube soonest. It's the definition of cringe worthy, douche chill, "that wasn't **ME**" internet video.

How low will you go boys? How low?

Yeah, Mike, I'm sure all your fans in Kenya, France, Germany, etc., will pony up the big bucks.

Seriously, does he really think that people in this economy are going to donate their hard-earned dollars to keep his podcasts going?

Sorry, Mike, it's not my fault that you lost a big chunk of your money when Laura divorced you, or that your show was so lame it got canceled. I won't be helping you pay the mortgage on your overpriced home.

Yes, I do. You have three unemployed losers who have nothing but time on their hands and a familiarity with this site. If they have time to comment on DCRTV, which they do, they have time to comment on this forum, which I believe they have.

Yes. That's what they talk about. The fact that they are doing a podcast. That's the whole theme of the show. It is fucking sad. They have no content whatsoever.

The downward spiral has begun. Mike has 17 comments on today's post, most from a guy named "Tito," and a gif of a guy repeatedly punching one of the chicks from MTV's Jersey Shore. A looped gif of a guy punching a woman in the face. Classy, Mike. Real classy.

There is something surreal about that, isn't there? He's pausing for non-existent sponsors so that non-existent stations can play the podcast.

To be fair he has KCJJ, so could he technically say " Now we break for station down the line"

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before stations all over Kenya and Tokyo will be clamoring to play all his podcasts from day one. So when that day comes he'll be prepared. That's one thing we can say about Mike, he's always prepared and planning for the future......A true visionary.

You're so right. It's surreal and sad and more than a little bit creepy. Like he's really deluded himself that he's back on WJFK and pausing for commercial breaks. Or maybe he thinks he's got to lay down the break rhythms now for later when the show's a mega hit and sponsors galore are begging for ad space. Whatever his reasoning, that phrase is the falsest part of a show that reeks of grand delusions. You said it spot on, LB.

Even though I hated the Mike O'Meara show with a passion, I have to admit that Mike was an excellent sidekick. The VP's who gave Mike him own show were absolute idiots. You only had to experience one show of Mike by himself (while Don was out sick or something) to realize that Mike cannot lead a show.

Fact: They didn't give Ed McMahon Johnny Carson's spot when Johnny retired because Ed was a second bannana.

Fact: Mike is a second bannana. Period.

Don Geronimo was a master of radio. He just doesn't need the money anymore because he didn't blow his cash on x-wives and bad investments. Sorry Mike...life is a bitch.

How would I be an online stalker? I am on this public forum. It's the only place I write anything about MoM. I don't post on his show site or DCRTV or anything else related to him.

Having an opinion doesn't make someone a stalker.

Oh, I beg to differ. What is WAY more interesting is watching you have a conversation with yourself about how nothing could be more interesting than Mike sitting around with three other unemployed people talking about the fact he is making a podcast.

That, sir, is much more entertaining.

Everyone needs goals in life. I'm glad you had a happy ending . You're truly an accomplished individual here and in life itself.

So with your "mission" being accomplished where do you go from here?

What lofty goals will you set for yourself now?

Maybe you can start a holiday drive to save your Ol'buddy Mike and his show.

Are you from Kenya by any chance?
