I have nothing against Chad for his misplaced idealism. It's a job. In this economy, especially in radio, a decent paying gig is a decent paying gig. It would be nice if Chad hadn't made all these promises, only to back off. But the guy is still young and this is his first chance at a decent job in a good market, so I will give him a pass.

CD should try harder. Maybe he's pressing because he's got to carry the "LaVar Mumbles Random Thoughts Show w/CD", but throwing out insipid "topics" like: Should the Redskins move back to RFK?; or Should the NFL take over the Redskins franchise? etc. are mind-numbing turn-offs.

I'll agree CD tries, maybe too much, but he's got to get better.

Here's a first sign of trouble: Jason Campbell is live Monday's @ 4pm. Talks for 20 minutes. That conversation is repeated one hour later.

I'm thinking boy-wonder PD CK doesn't have much faith in LaVar and CD - maybe he's mandating goofy topics to CD just to keep things moving?

I'm not saying the show doesn't suck or that Chad isn't ponderous with his bullshit topics. I'm just saying that I understand why he didn't fall on his sword for Oscar.

They do the same on Fridays with Brian Orakpo. I think it's just because they're both Redskins and it's a big deal to the station to have them weekly during the football season. They replay for those who leave work at 5 and aren't listening earlier. And yes, it kills time but I don't think it's because of a lack of confidence in the show.

This podcast thing is comparable to a car wreck victim being on life support and brain dead. I wonder if MOM is just trying to see if he can make Don feel sorry enough for him that he'll come to the rescue sometime next year?

I know the 105.9 thing was just a rumor but Mike knew it was out there and rode it out all last week. I have my doubts this was all there is to it. Mike can't be so stupid as to let people think he's coming back on 105.9 just to announce his anti-climactic p-cast on Friday? Don seems to be triangulating above the whole mess. On his twitter "Mikes my brother" "I consider Harv' a pal". High road all the way.

I have a hard time believing Jack Diamond had anything to do with Mike not getting the 105.9 gig. I have to think that Mike probably wanted too much money or certain guarantees (long-term contract) that Citadel simply wouldn't give.

Mike should join force with fellow podcasters (and former DC radio hosts) G. Gordon Liddy and Dr. Gabe Mirkin. Now that would be a fun show. The can play Pillar of .38 Caliber Ankle Strains.

I don't think so either. I would not put it past Mike to have offered his show to 105.9 for little or no compensation on a trial basis and Citadel turned him down. He would most likely sell his soul for a platform to rail against WJFK. It wouldn't shock me if O'Meara started the Diamond/Source cabal rumor after being rejected by 105.9. All the while he had KCJJ and the podcast to fall back on.

But you know Mike, neurosis umquam porro. We should now make wagers on how his new venture will be a carbon copy of his last. I'll put $100.00 on the "shake your boobs" thing within the first 1 minute of the show.

Now I also wonder if they will all be together in Buzz's sex dungeon or if they utilize their free trial option on "Go To Meeting.Com" then throw that shit up on the net? Never the less our expectations should remain high........Giggity

I think they give the free podcast thing about three months. I think after a few weeks in, they will start to miss episodes (going a day or two without posting anything). Then Oscar will miss a show here and there. Then Buzz. Finally, Mike will not show up for several episodes at a time. Next, DCRTV will start reporting that Buzz has a gig in Philly or that Rob(b) was spotted bagging groceries at a Giant in Sterling. The next thing you know, the "show" will fade away and Mike will be selling used cars in Manassas.

I am sure Mike's daughters are proud of him. I can see them talking about him at school.

Classmate: So, what does your dad do for a living?

Daughter: He does a podcast out of his basement.

Classmate: Oh, my little brother does that. That's his "job"?

Daughter: Yeah, him and three other unemployed, fired, DJs, go in the basement and record podcasts.

Classmate: Jesus, that is just sad.

Mike is at a bad age in the radio business to be unemployed. There is a career arc in the radio business. Typically, 50-something guys who are used to being paid six figures a year who get shown the door don't end up getting new six-figure gigs in a top market. Often, they end up going down-market (and down the pay scale) at some BFE station in Bumfuck, USA or get out of the industry entirely. Buzz has a marketable skill as a VO guy. Oscar could be DJ-ing middays either in DC or a nearby market. Rob(b) is a talentless fuck who will be an assistant manager at a Wendy's before long. Mike...who knows.

hey new to this forum...castaway from a now defunct big o and dukes forum. anywho, this seems to be the only place still talking about anything from the one time "talk super station". I got into the O&D show after they returned from AZ and afer that MOM and was livid when I heard about the format flip and tried lamar arlington show with thad fukes but its just awful listening to someone who is in radio that cant pronounce "human" correctly or seem to be able to form complete thoughts or ideas, LaMar that is. Dukes seems to be neutered and a hypocrite after blowing up at Oscar at Dysfunction Family Friday...I dont know anyways just wanted to say hi.

looking forward to see how the podcast goes with Oscar in the mix...

Because Oscar had travel plans and the station sprung this stupid promotion on him at the last minute. Oscar was right to say "fuck you" to the station. Mike played along, and look how it worked out for him.

God, this is so pathetic. From Mike's obvious insecurity about being reduced to being a lowly podcaster to his total lack of chemistry with Santana (who he personally loathed until this sad-ass shoestring production, probably still does). They don't even have an e-mail address set up yet.

And then slamming local radio that wanted to hire him for their "Zippy and the Zipperheads Morning Zoo" and doing remotes at taco stands with the station wagon, then just a few minutes later promising to go out and meet the fans at various waterholes and traveling in an RV.

These are tough times in the radio biz. When you've got former terresterial radio all stars like Opie and Anthony, Ron and Fez happy to have satellite gigs, and Donnie G. about to do fill-in shifts @ an NYC oldies station, it's hard for the experienced **talented** radio folks to find jobs.

So, bottom feeders like MOM and his "net afternoon crew" are relegated to unpaid, seat of the pants "broadcasting".

Way to go MOM, bad-mouth a potential employer from the comfort of your basement.

Douche indeed!!

Note(s) to MOM: The money **WILL** evaporate. Carla **WILL** leave. Even Rob(b) **WILL** stop taking your calls. Your only friend **WILL** be a can of 'Milwaukee's Best'.

It's only a matter of time.

Well in the show mike claims that in time it will be on i-tunes, and that he may be taking an RV and doing the show at different places( which I think really may mean that he is losing his house and the bit of money he has left he will use to get a used rv and will be the radio on the road guy)...

In all fairness,,,MOM did bad-mouth the new "talent" at the fan
He said everyone except the junkies sucked,,,and that all the other shows talked about all day was the Redskins,,,,(true)

He said you'd need to be shot in the head with a nailgun to think the mike wise show was listenable---he also told wise he's no Tony K. ---I agree with both comments

They did spend waaaaaayyyy too much time talking about podcasting and justifying their own existance in the format,,,but it was the first day,,,I'll give them a pass
I think 1 hour of MOM is about right,,,less is more

As a long time Don and Mike listener it was strangely comforting to hear them
again,,,,kind of like relatives who wore out their welcome that your ready to tolerate again
We'll see,,,,,,

Its not like the fan is gonna stop sucking

How hard is it to put something on iTunes? Don't you just upload the podcast and then encourage people to find it?

Good Idea. This demonstrates again how people on this thread are generally more intelligent and more creative than posters on other sites.

So the call is out. Someone needs to drive by today. Hopefully MOM doesn't live in a gated community. Whoever does it has to really knock hard, may be using a big rubber mallet, but do not yell POLICE! I repeat do not yell police. That would be against the law. And absolutely no bag - 0- dog crap afire then running hi jinx It would be great if this translated into a startling fright factor on their crappy podcast. I'm sure Mike would piss all over it and most likely edit it out.

From the DCRTV Mailbag, the MOM Podcast distilled to one, specific sentence:

"4 unfunny grown men sitting in a room talking into a computer because not one real radio station in the entire United States thought they were interesting enough to hire."

Word.

Unfortunately, some people think they are funny. Probably four or five thousand. Enough to encourage them but not enough for them to pay for the bandwidth they are wasting. It's actually gotten to a point of being really sad. I hope for the sake of Rob(b) and Oscar that they aren't stupid enough to turn down legit employment, be it at a radio station or Wendy's, in hopes this podcast thing takes off. They will be seriously fucked if they do.

It's so funny to read Don's empty cheerleading for the MOM shitcast. Ever since they split up when Don's been asked (forced) to address the topic of black-sheep Mike he acts like divorced parents in front of their kids, faking goodwill. But you know he secretly thinks podcasts are for losers who can't get a real radio gig.

Funny how Don couldn't give a shit, just wants to do the radio he loves in his retirement, and gets hired in the largest radio market in the country by the employer who used to hate him. Meanwhile Mike'll do anything for a paycheck and is reduced to paying for the privilege of podcasting to a thousand idiots from his living room.

It would appear that Donnie G. has been pretty passive aggressive toward Mike since leaving the show. Not inviting Mikey to his wedding, but calling him "my brother" on Tweets. Supposedly talking shit about Mike to the radio folks in OC but praising him when confronted by reporters and bloggers who cover the industry.

I believe his wedding was just a few people and perhaps even just them two. However, the fact that, if my memory serves me, Mike found out from a listener on-air that he had gotten married is telling.

Donnie G helped the guy get a well-paying gig for 25 years and set him up with the opportunity to succeed on his own. Donnie probably figures what ever debt he owed Mike was paid, and then some.

Oscar specifically mentioned having a day job, so there's at least one of them that gets it.

I listened for about 15 minutes. Boring, unlistenable shit. Whatever Mike spent on equipment, he needs to return it for a refund. There's a reason they aren't on radio anymore. They suck. No chemistry. Nothing compelling. Boring shit. And I can't believe that asshole is making Rob(b), Oscar and Buzz commute to Manassas each day for an hour of unpaid crap. Why not record five segments in one day? Does this douchebag really not get the concept of a podcast?

Gore Should Give Back Oscar, Two Academy Members Say

Friday, December 4, 2009 1:05 PM

By: James Hirsen Article Font Size

Two members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have called on the group to take back the Oscar awarded to former Vice President Al Gore for the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth."

Roger L. Simon and Lionel Chetwynd made the request based on the e-mails that a hacker/whistle blower released revealing that so-called scientists at the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in England systematically falsifying data to support the theory that the earth is heating up and that humans caused it.

"An Inconvenient Truth," a film based on a climate-change speech that Gore developed, won the Academy Award for best documentary feature in 2007. (Coincidentally, the next day, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research uncovered that Gore’s Nashville home guzzled 20 times more electricity than the average American household. )

That same year, the Academy elevated Gore's PowerPoint lecture, helping him to snag a Nobel Peace Prize as well.

The academy members' request that Gore return his statue is happening as preparations are under way for next week's United Nations climate change meeting in Copenhagen, where 16,500 people from 192 countries will fly in using private jets, consume 200,000 meals, and produce an estimated 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide, roughly the same as the carbon emissions of Morocco in 2006.

Some idiots out there have "evidence" that the Holocaust was all a shame. Maybe Steven Spielberg should return his Oscar for Schindler's List?

The peace prize was shown to be a sham when Obama won this year. No meaning to that prize anymore.

As far as Academy Awards, Liberal actors are the only ones that are valued by Hollywood so who cares?

Sarah Palin might launch Presidential bid at Iowa book-signing tour

Please, Lord, Please! Make it stop! Make the Republicans stop drinking.

There is mounting speculation that the former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is going to announce a possible presidential bid with a stop in Iowa during her national book-signing tour.

This is being speculated because Iowa’s caucuses have traditionally launched the presidential nominating season.

I see how it is more complicated to duplicate. The birth dates are raised lettering like credit card numbers. The birth date is also in a number of spots like on the back carved into the plastic covering.

However, I think with some work and practice a person could duplicate it.

Interesting this is they the VA ABC says you should spot a fake ID. I thought the A-ask section was clever.

F-L-A-G is a simple way to remember how to properly check IDs
F - Feel

* Have the customer remove the ID from their wallet or plastic holder. You may see another ID in their wallet.
* Feel for raised edges, glue lines or bumpy surfaces by the photo or birth date. Uneven surfaces often indicate tampering. Feel for cut-out or pasted information.
* Check the thickness of the ID. Check to see if it was re-laminated after changing some of the information.

L - Look

* Photograph - Does it look like the person in front of you? Hairstyles and makeup can change, so focus your attention on the person's eyes, nose and chin. When checking men with beards or mustaches, cover the facial hair portion of the photo and concentrate on the eyes, nose or ears.
* Height and weight - Do they reasonably match the person?
* State seal - Is it on the ID and is it in the correct place?
* Date of birth - Is the person old enough? Figure the math or look at the "Under 21 Until" portion of the ID.
* Age on ID vs. Appearance - Does the person in front of you match the age on the ID?
* Expiration date - Is the ID expired? Expired IDs are unacceptable.
* Lamination - Are the cuts or corners/edges straight or crooked?

A - Ask

* Ask for their middle name, zodiac sign or year of high school graduation. If someone has to think about his or her sign or when they graduated, the ID may be false.
* Ask the birth month. If the person responds with a number rather than the name of the month, they may be lying.
* If the customer is with a companion, ask the companion to quickly tell you the customer's name. Any hesitation may indicate deception.
* Ask the customer to sign his/her name and then compare the signatures to the ID. Sometimes if the ID is false, the customer will sign his or her true name, rather than the one on the ID.

G - Give Back

* Give the ID back to the customer and make the sale if the ID is valid.
* If the ID is fake or altered, you must return the ID.

I guess if Republicans feel Obama can't be beat in 2012 then why not throw Palin under the bus.

A Hispanic male robbed the Bob Evans off rt 123 Sunday night. He was wearing a grey hoody, surgical gloves and a black mask. Police arrived about 10 minutes later. Canine and Helicopter did not locate any possible suspects.

The robber had possible cuts on his hands. The cash amount of the take was estimated to be $10,000. It is thought that robber had knowledge of the back room area of the Bob Evans.

We see all and know all. Police stopped three Hispanic males but after closer investigation they did not fit the description.

The fact that the person knew the backroom probably leads to a connection with an employee.

I wonder what the get away path was? Get on I66? Have a getaway driver? Live in place nearby and get rid of your disguise before running home?

You wouldn't want to take 123 because there are too many lights and too much traffic.

Hispanic male?

Well that really narrows it down.

Last time I checked, the term Hispanic could mean several different things.

There are many different types of people who could fall fit into the Hispanic category.

Paul Gasol a whitey

Sammy Sosa a darkie

George Lopez a beaner

So please be more specific.

What kind of Hispanic was it?

I believe that I am because I have common sense and I have I believe the values that I think are reflective of so many other American values, and I believe that what Americans are seeking is not the elitism, the uhm, the ah, a kind of spineless, spinelessness that perhaps is made up for that with some kind of elite, Ivy league education and, and a fat resume that is based on anything but hard work and private sector, free enterprise principles. Americans are could be seeking something like that in positive change in their leadership, I'm not saying that that has to be me.

Sorry, but I subbed out English courses for Fashion Merchandising at the sixteen different schools I attended to get my Bachelor's degree. My supporters are stupid, so they will understand my rogue speak. Here's my educational background. Notice my major is Communications.

Re: Should Al Gore Return Oscar? Peace Prize?
Posted by: Vince(1) ()

COPENHAGEN—“Politicians talk, leaders act” read the sign outside the Bella Center in Copenhagen on the opening day of the United Nations climate summit. Inside the convention center, the official delegations from 192 countries, hundreds of NGOs (nongovernmental organizations)—an estimated 15,000 people in all—are engaging in two weeks of meetings aiming for a global agreement to stave off catastrophic global climate change. Five thousand journalists are covering the event.

Outside, Copenhagen has been transformed into a vibrant, global hub of climate-change activism, forums and protest planning. In one square, an ice sculpture of a polar bear melts day by day, and an open-air exhibit of towering photos displays “100 places to remember that will disappear.”

While the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency this week designated carbon dioxide as a threat to health, President Barack Obama has said that there will not be a binding agreement from this summit. Many see the U.S. as a key obstacle to it and are seizing the opportunity to assert a leadership role in what environmental writer and activist Bill McKibben has described as “the most important diplomatic gathering in the world’s history.” At stake are not only the rules that will govern entire economies, driven for well more than a century by fossil fuels, but the very existence of some nations and cultures, from the tropics to the arctic.

The Republic of Maldives, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, sent 15-year-old Mohamed Axam Maumoon as a climate ambassador. After attending the Children’s Climate Forum, he told me, “We are living at the very edge ... because our country is so fragile, only protected by the natural barriers, such as the coral reefs and the white sandy beaches.”

Most of the 200 inhabited islands of the Maldives are at most 3 feet above sea level, and projected sea-level rises would inundate his country. Even at his age, Axam comprehends the enormity of the threat he and his country face, and starkly frames the question he poses to people in the industrialized world: “Would you commit murder, even while we are begging for mercy and begging for you to stop what you’re doing, change your ways and let our children see the future that we want to build for them?”

Farther north, in Arctic Village, Alaska, indigenous people are fighting to survive. Sarah James is an elder and a chair member of the Gwich’in Steering Committee. I met her at the Klimaforum09, dubbed “The People’s Summit,” where she told me: “Climate change, global warming is real in the Arctic. There’s a lot of erosion, because permafrost is melting. ... And last summer, there was a fire all summer long, no visibility. Last spring, 20 villages got flooded along the Yukon. Sixty villages within the Yukon area never got their fish.”

Emerging economies like China and India are growing rapidly and are becoming first-rate carbon emitters, yet none approaches the per capita emission levels of the United States. With just 4 percent of the world’s population, the U.S. produces about a quarter of the world’s greenhouse gases. The model for the past century has been clear: If you want to escape poverty, grow your economy by industrializing with fossil fuels as your main source of energy. Yet the wealthy nations have not been willing to pay for the environmental damage they have caused, nor significantly change the way they operate.

Author Ross Gelbspan says poverty is at the root of the problem: Take care of poverty, and humanity can solve the climate crisis. He says retooling the planet for a green economy can be the largest jobs program in history, can create more equality among nations, and is necessary, immediately, to avoid catastrophe.

Tuesday, between sessions at the Bella Center, in the cafe area packed with thousands, a group of activists dressed as space aliens, in white spacesuits and with green skin and goggles, walked in. “Take us to your climate leaders!” they demanded. “Show us your binding treaty!” In the rarified diplomatic atmosphere of the summit, such antics stand out. But the calls from the developing world, both inside and outside the summit, to cut emissions and to compensate countries, from Africa to Asia and Latin America, for the devastating effects of global warming they did not cause are no laughing matter.

Protesters are planning confrontations as more than 100 world leaders descend on Copenhagen next week. The battle cry at the Klimaforum09 is “Mobilize, Resist, Transform.” The people are leading, while the politicians talk.

I think it's funny when he works in his breaks for "stations right along the line"

My question here is "stations"? KCJJ ? Isn't it AM only?
Should not it be "station right along the cornfield"?
And what a deal for them. I bet the MOMS doesn't pull 1 shiny dime from that one hour daily broadcast just to be able to say he's on the radio by definition. So if KCJJ can pull any numbers at all it would be all cream for them.

Is it just me, or was Mike's endlessly repeating "pinch a loaf" on day two just incredibly, incredibly stupid?

During Mike's five months off, he apparently did not give one minute of thought to show content. This is the same show that has already failed!

I miss Mike as part of the Don & Mike Show, but I doubt I'll listen much more to this warmed-over version of TMOS.

Mike's last conversation with Don when he told him he was starting the podcast...

This wasn't an easy decision for me, Don, believe me. For one thing, I knew it meant we could never be friends again and that hurt me It's hard to lose a friend, even one who has let you down. You always hope you can patch things up. You know, a guy like me doesn't make friends that easily. Why didn't you just listen to the tape when I asked you? Then I wouldn't have to be doing all this. Was it really too much to expect -- a few minutes of your time to listen to something I'd worked on my whole life?

I listened to the first two shows and although it was nice to hear the familiar voices, I have to agree that the show is pretty boring. Just banter amongst themselves. Nothing exciting. I guess when they've had time to "mature" in their new format and start taking callers, things may get better.....

I 'm curious. When do you think they will start begging for money?

Back To Regular Radio For Stern? - 12/9 - Radio shock jock legend Howard Stern (left) says he won't be re-signing with Sirius XM next year. As he approaches the end of a 5-year, $500 million dollar cash/stock deal with the satellite radio firm. Some industry insiders say that Stern, whose audience is much smaller - and cultural influence much more limited - than when he was on "regular radio," could be jumping back to terrestrial broadcast. Before jumping to Sirius in 2006, Stern had been heard on DC's 106.7 FM, and Baltimore 105.7 FM. Both CBS stations have since dropped "guy talk" for sports talk....

Could it be a resurgence? Will Stern and Geronimo come back at the same time?

12/8 - Four major FMers in the DC market - WPGC, WTGB, WJFK, and WLZL - and the best CBS Radio can do is 14th.

Will CBS make a move back towards guy talk?
