It would seem so, until Don or Mike gets a show again... So Lets make the best of it...

Well in the spirit of the 2 great shows here are some wacky stories I found on the net:

Lost keys lead NJ police to home invasion suspects:

Tracking down three alleged home invaders became easier for Paterson police after one of the bandits dropped the keys to their getaway car. Authorities said the gun-toting men entered a city apartment early Friday, expecting to find loads of money. Police soon arrived and, after finding the lost keys in a bedroom, used the car alarm to locate a deserted vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Its registration led them to the alleged robbers, who were sitting in a taxi outside one suspect's home.

Cops: Man grabs football, bites neighbor on mouth

Police say a Detroit-area man bit through a neighbor's lips after he picked up a football that accidentally had been tossed onto his lawn by some teenagers. The man was accused of confiscating the football Sunday evening and refusing to return it until a 28-year-old parent walked up to him and asked for the ball.

Fla. burglar caught sleeping in pub's freezer

A Gulf Coast man was arrested after falling asleep in the freezer of a shuttered pub he was trying to rob. Investigators said the man hopped a fence in Ridge Manor and pried open a locked storage shed. He allegedly ate a can of tomatoes, entered the walk-in freezer and took a nap.

Enjoy!

From DCRTV:
--------------
Spewak Wows 'Em In Iowa For KCJJ - 10/26 - DCRTV hears that former WJFKer Robb Spewak (right) was live and in-person last week at Iowa City talker KCJJ to do his show in-studio. The former Don and Mike show regular does a Friday at 3 PM (2 PM Central) show from his home in Loudoun County. But last Friday, more than a 1,000 fans showed up at KCJJ to greet Spewak, who not only did his Friday afternoon show, but also KCJJ's morning show on Thursday and Friday. According to KCJJ owner Steve Bridges, lots of folks showed up from the DC area, and from all over the country. When it was on WJFK, the D&M show was syndicated nationwide via Westwood One, and also aired on KCJJ. You can listen to Spewak's new show, which is a mix of music and talk, at 1630kcjj.com. He's also got a blog up at robbradio.com.....

The Peter Rosenberg of Iowa.

I especially love this ad for his stupid show on DCRTV. How much did they have to crank up the lights from underneath to glare out the flab on his chin and neck, anyway?

At least Robbay didnt move to Iowa for the gig (he gets to broadcast out of his house). Rosenberg moved to high-cost NYC to be on the air 5 hours a week during the graveyard shift. But he's the self-described savior and innovater of the NYC hip-hop scene. If that was the case, wouldn't he have his own show on during prime-time? Sound like someone (Peter) needs to grow up and face reality. At least Robbay is somewhat self effacing.

Have you ever read as much jive as this:

Peter Rosenberg is new to New York City, but not to hip hop or radio. Rosenberg spent the last decade djing in clubs and doing radio shows all over the DC area and nationally on XM Satellite Radio.

Most recently he developed a national following for his talk show, The Peter Rosenberg Show and hit video parodies. Rosenberg’s videos, “Throw Some Cheese On It” and “This is Why Duke Sucks“, have generated millions of views and landed him all over the web and in the pages of hip hop magazines like “XXL” and “Scratch”.

His Hot 97 show, “Real Late with Peter Rosenberg“, has created a major stir in the streets of New York. His mix of “real talk” and underground taste has endeared him to a hip hop community hungry for something both authentic and provocative. His video interviews with celebrities ranging from 50 Cent to Rob Zombie have made him constant fodder for bloggers worldwide and have earned him status as a rare interviewing talent.

Real Late with Peter Rosenberg airs Sunday nights from midnight to 2 am. The Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg Morning Show airs Monday through Friday, from 5 am to 7 am. Both are broadcast on WQHT, 97.1FM.

The Fan garbage is doing better in the ratings. I expect O'Meara and company will be spinning records at a deep pay cut at some non-CBS station like Big 100.3.

Just what Dc-radio needs, another morning/afternoon zoo a la the Great Jack Diamond.

I suppose MOM's name recognition would be worth the minimal ratings boost to a suffering Dc-area station - but you know that arrogant bastardo is going to phone-in the same lame shit that got him canned from JFK in the first place.

Oh, wait!! Maybe MOM will have the sense to bring in Michael Hughes' Annapolis-based high powered radio "consulting firm" to work some radio magic for TMOMS-Part Two!!

But what I really want to know is: Will MOM rescue BA McBride from low-budget carpet sales one more time?

You may be right that the Fan is worse than the Mike O'Meara show. However, this has been repeated over and over on this forum - it's all about money. At least the Fan format is not sinking WJFK financially like the Mike O'Meara show was.

I still really enjoy this forum but really miss the comedy of the previous pages. I also enjoy the fact that the Mike O'Meara show was cancelled and think about it on a regular basis.

Mike was such an asshole and really deserved it. He became a different person to his friends back in the mid-80's when he hooked up with Don on WAVA and became quote "a big star". He actually had to tell people that he was this "big star." He let his ego bring down the people that supported him. I

t's interesting that he still reads this forum on a regular basis and could care less what his former friends think of him.

More: O'Meara Planning Return - 11/5 - We're hearing more rumblings about former WJFKer Mike O'Meara's (right) return to the media world. A source tells us that Robb Spewak and Buzz Burbank are involved, in addition to "another individual who is familiar" to the audience of the old afternoon show, which got axed in June when WJFK flipped to sports talk. And "no, it's not Don," we hear. Still no word if it's a new local radio show or something via the internet. Look for a "formal announcement" some time after Thanksgiving. We've told you that O'Meara's contract with WJFK owner CBS expires in December. More soon.....

Yawwwwn. If it's not BA McB, then it's "Katie" or someone else out of work after the June demise of the MOMS.

Marvel Team ups were great. A lame character teamed up with Spider-Man. "Hey, Spider-Man! You can't get the formula to the lab on time!" "Thank God Quicksilver is here!" "Who?" "You know, the lame Marvel knock-off of The Flash?" "Oh yeah. That lame-ass character."

Try to pay a DC-area mortgage with this nonsense...

KCJJ In O'Meara's Future? - 11/6 - So, DCRTV has reported that former Don and Mike show regular Robb Spewak just started a show on former D&M show affiliate KCJJ in Iowa City, Iowa. And, according to station owner Steve Bridges, the Friday show, which can be heard on the internet, is doing gangbusters. So, we're also reporting that Mike O'Meara will be free of his CBS/WJFK contract come December, and there are rumors that he and Robb and another former D&Mer, Buzz Burbank, will have some big news to announce soon. Could it be that all three will be doing a show for guy talker KCJJ? When asked for comment, Bridges simply says: "All I can say is that everyone is looking forward to the future."

According to DCRTV BA has moved up the in world, she is an "affiliate relations" (or whateveer) representative for a guy who does a podcast from his basement - super oldies or whatever. (Anyone interested can get the details @ DCRTV.)

WTL, you called it over a year ago.

MOM will take the Iowa City gig. Better a General in Hell rather than a private in Heaven - that being DC where the big boys in DC.

I wonder if MOM will call "Lurchie" at the Junkies from his virtual radio perch in Manassass/Iowa City to arrange a "drinking Friday".

One thing is for sure, I'll never know - so I hope to read the detail here!!

Wow -- why is there all of this vitriol aimed at Mike O'Meara? His show was the best thing on the radio, and there are many of us who can't wait for him to come back on. I couldn't help wondering why these few very nasty individuals seem to be spending a lot of time talking about a person and a show that they profess to hate -- what's that about? Mike, if you ever read this, we REALLY want you back on the radio!!

Move to Iowa City. You can hear him there, from what I understand.

The only person who could have made this post is Mike O'Meara himself.

I always find it funny how people find it hard to believe that an unemployed booze hound would find his way to this forum to make posts. Of course he comes on here and tries to defend his sorry show. Nobody else cares about it anymore except him.

I hope he finds success in Iowa City. That's where he belongs! I just don't know how he is going to be able to split the $35K-a-year that station is used to paying its morning drive person among four people.

As far as MOM being the best thing on radio?.........Try this dumas

Listening in on Lightning
Concepts: thunderstorms, static electricity

Materials: AM radio w/ antenna, inflated rubber balloon

An AM radio makes an excellent lightning detector. During a thunderstorm you can listen in on individual lightning bolts on your AM radio. Tune the radio to a station and each crackling sound that you hear is from the radio waves emitted by a lightning bolt. You will notice that you hear the static crackle at the same moment you see a flash of lightning. This is because radio waves and visible light both travel at the speed of light. The sound of thunder travels at the speed of sound (about 1,000 feet per second) and thus lags behind the flash of light (or AM crackle)*. You will notice that there will be some lightning bolts that you detect that are not seen. These are lightning bolts that are high up in the thunderstorm cloud or even in another thunderstorm cell.

You can make your own lightning strikes (on a much smaller scale) and detect them on your AM radio. Tune your AM radio to a station with its antenna extended. Take an inflated balloon and rub it back and forth for awhile on your own clean, dry, oil-free hair (fur works well also). Slowly bring the balloon close to the antenna. You may need a quite classroom to hear the effect, but the static crackle becomes audible as you bring the balloon slowly near the antenna.

* You can use the time lag between lightning and thunder as an excellent way to judge the distance to the lightning. Count the seconds after you see the flash of lightning. Each second equals about 1,000 feet or five second equals about a mile. If you see the flash of lightning and then hear the thunder by the time you count to ten (or sooner) you are within two miles of the lightning and could be at some risk of getting a lightning strike!

This provides much more entertainment than MOM

Wow! late oct.ppm 18) WJFK [Junks 12th, Wise 18th, Arrington 18th] Performing exactly the same as when the MOM show was still alive.

The bottom line has to be looking better though.

O'Meara Promises "Major Announcement" On Friday - 11/21 - Former WJFKer Mike O'Meara posted this late Saturday on his Facebook page: "I want to thank all of you for your patience and understanding during these difficult months for me. I will have a major announcement on Friday November 27th, and again I want to thank all of you for your unbelievable support during my down time".....

Any guesses?

FYI - Announcing it the Day after Thanksgiving probably isn't the optimal time to do it.

Probably.

So what do you think he means by "during these difficult months for me?"

Did Carla realize what a loser she has on her hands?
Did Mike realize nobody in a Top 100 market wants him?
Did Mike realize that his "friends" who didn't bother showing up to bail out his bar didn't bother showing up to his house once he stopped being a "big time radio guy?"

I guess he kissed and made up with CBS, holder of the non-compete.

I wonder who made the first move?

It's pretty funny. Don is kissing their ass now.

I think CBS made him an offer to try this out under his current contract with the promise of a possible payday down the road. If you listen to Adam Corolla, he is doing the same thing with CBS with his podcast.

With Bush out of the FCC, I wouldn't be surprised if CBS isn't positioning itself for the return of Howard Stern to terrestrial radio.

With his 5 year 500 mil contract running out who knows about Howard.I'm sure your being somewhat facetious but my guess is with that much money Howards probably done. Dons deal? Who knows. They have to be paying him something. I wonder if it's anywhere near his former paycheck? No I'm sure.

Would like some more detail on his time slot

Yeah, it's funny, but I can't say I blame the guy for taking the deal. He bitched
and moaned about the non-compete, but CBS never crossed any ethical or legal
lines, they just drove a hard bargain. And I'm sure Don knows a thing or two
about driving a hard bargain. In the end it's just show biz.

He's in the Big Apple. This could turn into a very good gig.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Comeback kid? I wouldn't bet
against him.

On a different note, I hope he publishes that book he occasionally talks about.
If he can translate his storytelling skill into print, that could really be a good
read.

Probably Mike (O'Meara) in the AM. Out-of-town woman middays. Well-known Baltimore/DC guy PM drive, voicetrack 7 PM to 6 AM weekends." Hmmm.....

For those that don't read DCRTV

Geronimo Lands Weekend Shifts At NYC's CBS-FM - 11/23 - DCRTV hears that former WJFK afternoon man Don Geronimo (right) will be doing weekend shifts at CBS Radio's classic hits and oldies WCBS-FM in NYC. Including Saturdays 7 PM to midnight and Sundays 3 PM to 7 PM. "It's just a few fill-in shifts, nothing set in stone," he writes on his Twitter page. "We'll see what happens. I'm excited to do anything on CBS-FM." The station streams at wcbsfm.com. Geronimo's under contract to CBS Radio through October 2010. The firm has kept him sidelined, off the air in DC, since he left his gig at former guy talker WJFK in April 2008.....

So in the end, Mike's "Big Announcement" was that he is still unemployed and is going to do something that you and me could start doing this evening.

I hope Mike knows what he is supposedly getting himself into. Adam Corolla likes to bitch about how he loses $10K a month on his podcast because it is so successful. Granted, Mike's won't draw anywhere near the audience of Adam Corolla. But given Mike's supposed business acumen, can he afford to lose any money on this thing?

Mike O'Meara's Podcast = "I got nothin'"

My God what could they be thinking? Throw the same crap up on a podcast and and build on that? Where? May be KCJJ picks it up in Iowa freeking City?

One hour a day. He may not have to do any B list interviews to fill that. Than again he probably would have to move to the C list for a podcast. That should qualify most of us.

I'll tune err download in though. It will be interesting to see if he can get drunk in an hour on Friday. I know they can record several hours at once so it won't matter and it won't be live.

Isn't MOM still getting CBS money? Robb and Buzz aren't. Will this have CBS's name on it? If not CBS isn't very worried about the MOMS threat in their markets. You know they wouldn't let Don get away with that. Not even a podcast

Even the sycophants on that other website are scratching their skulls on this one.

It doesn't sound like Mike is still working for CBS. The real irony of it all is that Mike - a company man - and Michael Hughes - a corporate suck-up - are both unemployed, while Don - the CBS anti-Christ - is back working for CBS in New York.

Just goes to show you that selling out doesn't usually pan out in the end. If you don't stand for anything, you are easier to push off the edge when things go bad.

Adam Corolla schedules calls ahead of time. I'm sure Mike would love to have pre-vetted idiots to call upon. Probably the same idiots who he was relying on to show up at his bar.

Unfortunately I think a good move would have been to experiment with dropping Rob and Buzz and seeing how the chemestry worked with Mike and Oscar alone. I think Buzz will continue to mill in the background but Rob, now firmly established in his mind as being a viable DJ, will try to get as much airtime as possible. This may end up being worse than the Junkies with all of them talking over each other.

And with only and hour to do it and using Rob(b)'s set up. I smell disaster.

Wouldn't there be more listeners if the show was on WEBR Fairfax public radio or GMU radio?

Mike O'Meara

I'm coming back you fuckers!!! The reason the show is an hour is because I am a busy man with a busy day. I spend my afternoons waiting in the soup line, and if I don't reclaim my cardboard mattress under the bridge before sundown, some other dirty hobo will steal it.

Mike O'Meara Show

HOLY SHIT! PodCasting is f-ing expensive. I can't afford that shit. Listen, I found a much cheaper way to put out my show. To the first nine listeners that come by my bridge with a bottle of hooch, I will give you the Mike O'Meara Cassette-Cast.

I for one am looking foward to these podcasts,,,but not because of MOM

I always liked Oscar and want to see him get back in the game,,,,,
Personally, i think Chad threw him under the bus to save himself,,,then promised Big O and Dukes fans "torches and pitchforks" and "It will return",,,,,
and then promptly crawled up Lavar's ass

Something about that just rubs me wrong

Its kind of like the way I loved the Houston Oilers and then hated the Titans after they moved,,,,but I like Vince Young so I root for the fuckin Titans because I want to see VY prove all the haters wrong

Lavar and Dukes just sucks,,,sucks bad,,,,real bad,,,,and after the football season that show is doomed

Then maybe we'll get Big O and Dukes back,,,,assuming we can dislodge chad from Lavar's rectum
