Here's all I could find at DCRTV, below. No mention of $$. I don't think it's unusual for restaurant owners to stiff anyone they owe money to if they possibly can when they close a place. When O'Meara's Pub closed during the week and was only open on weekends that was a loud and clear signal for any employee to get one last paycheck and hit the door.

If there was an allegation of unpaid wages attributed to O'Meara, it wouldn't stay on DCRTV's message board for long. Dave Hughes has always show mucho man-love for Don and Mike, and he's pretty skittish about posting anything that will get him in trouble. Unlike FFU and this board, where we pretty much don't give a fuck who does or doesn't get offended!!

That's an interesting post.

I think Mike's problem in this regard is that when someone's public persona is being a prick - like Don and Howard Stern - you kind of expect that in their private lives. That's why when Don or Stern do something nice, it ends up being so surprising.

Mike, on the other hand, has this public persona of being the jovial fat guy so that when he is a prick in private, the impact is amplified. All things being equal, Don and Mike are probably equal in the "prick" department when it comes to working for them. But you expect it from Don. Not Mike.

The problem was that O'Meara became a radio "diva" before he had the stature or earned the right to be one. He was too self-absorbed and egotistical and it seeped from the radio.

Shari Elliker. For a couple of years she was on the "Broadminded" talk show on XM/155. She has moved on from that job and has a gig on WBAL radio in Ballamore.

Back in the day she was "Shari Likker" on the D&M show. When Don got popped for weed/coke possession in the 90s she resigned shortly thereafter, I think she was the producer at the time. Then she did traffic reports on Channel 9 for some time.

Interesting story: A couple of years ago Ron and Fez did a live show from the XM HQ on New York Avenue during an "employee appreciation day". R&F listeners like myself got tickets to the gig. At one point during the afternoon, R&F moved over to the "Broadminded" show to appear as "guests". Shari Elliker introduced herself to Ron Bennington and noted that she too had worked at WJFK and the D&M producer back in the day, so they had something in common (employment at JFK). Ron asked Shari: "So how did it work out for you with Don and Mike?". Shari said: "Well, you know...". Ron said: "I know, it always seems to work out that way with those guys."

Read between the lines, but that was my five minutes basking in the presence of radio gods. Ron and Fez that is...

I am in the minority...I liked the show. It had the things I liked about the D&M show without the things I hated. How many more times could I hear about Paul Revere and the Raiders, Elvis, Major Bill Smith, or any of that other crap on the D&M show. The guests were better and the guests took calls. They never did that on D&M. Don't get me wrong...Nobody gave a weekend recap like Don. All and all IMHO it was a good show.
Was he a dick..Who knows, but what celebrity and he was a local celebrity, isn't.

As someone who listens to a lot of satellite radio..I hope he ends up there. We are close to the XM studios in DC.

On the other hand, the junks better step it up.

Every time I tuned in to the MoM show, they were playing the Power of 5. EVERY TIME. It was one stupid game show after another. Guests were rare, games were common.

I miss the games like the intersection game where they counted how many honks you could get from blocking traffic... The interactions with the un-screened callers was one of the best things about the D&M Show... And how they would humiliate a dull guest...

I heard the voice over for the new station identification this morning, and it was terrible. The should go back to the V/O guy they used back in the late 90's who kept saying he had "big balls".

After the way he treated my girlfriend at a WJFK appearance I won't miss him at all. One can only wonder if there is enough alcohol in NOVA to sustain him over the next couple of weeks. He needs to give people around him a little respect.

One of the first games Don played on his new show was the drive thru game Marco Polo. I never thought I'd be so glad to here a stupid radio bit in my life but after hearing crap like the MOMS it was refreshing.

The reason you heard the Power of 5 every time is because MoM used the same schedule every single day. He did have guests earlier in each show. As Harry Tuttle pointed out, there were usually low-hanging fruit (people who were either promoting a book nobody wanted to read or someone who was semi-famous 30 years ago). And Mike was a terrible interviewer. He would ask these five-part questions and then wouldn't let the guest answer. Awful.

Pretty much from day one. Between Buzz talking too much to Beth Ann adding nothing to the show when she was on air to Rob(b) braying mindlessly at every innocuous quip made by Mike, the tone of the show was so far removed from what it was under Don that it was an affront to most of the people who listened to D&M. It would be the same as Howard Stern leaving and Robin Quivers turning the Howard Stern Show into a Tyra Banks Show. It just flew in the face of a 25 year track record.

For me it was Mike's awkward appearence on the Junkies the day his show was to debut on JFK. That was some of the most awkward radio ever. I think it was E.B. or Lurch who asked Mike,"Did you ever think this day would happen?", in reference to Mike having to appear on The Junkies show to grovel, beg, and pray for listeners.
It reminded me of that bit Andy Kaufman used to do where he had a talk show and his desk would be literally one story above the guests he was interviewing.
Other shark jumping moments that come to mind are Mike's frequent calls to the BO&D show in a thinly veiled attempt to appear as a participant while shamelessly shilling for listeners.

Mike O'meara is such a dickbag this is truly great news. My only regret is not getting to hear all the promised backstory when G. Gordon left the station. I am still waiting for that.

i think O and A got Ron and Fez the jobs at sirius/XM, and if i remember correctly O & A had a big thing with Don and Mike like 10 years ago, so i dont know if that will happen.

Show's over folks. Shows over. Even some of the affiliates went on the air today to say that Friday the 17th is the end of the road, cause' they (affiliates) gotta come up with something to replace the show. Lucky us out here on the west coast, we get Lars Larson. Tool. As much as I wanted to love the MOMS I couldn't do it. It sucked. From top to bottom. Sucked. Mike had no business running a radio show what-so-ever. Sad really. Just sad. Don and Mike were a huge part of my life for the 11 years I could tune into them here in Washington (state). Loved it. Loved it. But it's ALL gone now. As much as MOMshow sucked this is truly the end of an era. One that had a lot of influence on me..at least the Don and Mike part. Despite my previous post of Carla shooting Mike, etc, etc, I do wish the best for all of them. But get the fuck out of radio and move on. It's not easy.....I know, I've done it. I had almost a decade of success in radio but had to get the fuck out........it's a nutty biz. Safe home, god speed, and don't ever come back on my radio and fuck up my day. Cause' I'll be stupid enough to tune in.

I dunno. I listen to R&F regularly and on occasion, a DC-based caller will mention D&M or O'Meara and R&F usually don't pursue the conversation.

Don and Mike were the linchpin of WJFK, and now this incarnation is ovah - give me fucking break - Mike O'Meara is a lazy POS who dials in everything...he's accomplished soooo much and he pre-records his goodbye? yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

A few mentions of Don but not much. It was all about the MIKE O'MEARA SHOW and how great it was.

Edit: He's still under contract with CBS until next year (same as Don's maybe) so they could hold him to a non-compete clause.
