That's a valid point. I think only two of the games were played on broadcast. And most people seemed to be bitching that they didn't have whatever level of service they needed to get Versus or Comcast Sportsnet. That must have meant that a large portion of those following the games listened to WJFK. That means that either a) people made a real concerted effort not to listen to Mike or that b) the last hour of Mike's show was probably #1 in the market leading up to the game, but the rest of his show sucks so bad that it dragged the overall rating down to 12.

He tirade started when someone sent him a text message asking him to comment in the upswing of his PPM ratings. He said he normally doesnt comment on when the show does well or when the show ranks poorly with the PPM's. He then went off about the "haters at a particular website" and "they know who they are" who will be naysayers regardless of how the show does..... He claimed that they will continue to do the show in the same manner and that they arent going anywhere.

It's now clearly obvious that:
1. Mike pays attention to what's discussed at this site
2. It gets under his skin

Mission accomplished!!!!!!! (to a certain extent)

I just listened to his podcast and he, predictably, bragged about his 12th-place finish and bitched that nobody, including one specific local website, gave him credit.

First, I think he is probably talking about DCRTV and not FFXU, but who knows. Second, I think both DCRTV and the folks here acknowledged the 12th place placement with the caveat that the Caps lead-in probably drove up the number, but didn't ignore it or bash him for it. Now, if in two weeks his show is still at 12th place, I'll give Mike credit. I don't believe that is going to be the case. Third, his show still sucks.

I agree that MOM was probably talking about DCRTV at first but he then moved on to FFXU and that is when he really went off....Pretty DAMN FUNNY!!!

Good to know this site and the thread gets under his SKIN......

And what's this about wanting more dirty stuff like with strippers? I never liked that stuff, and judging by the way he sounds when talking to a remotely attractive woman (creepy as fuck) it's sure as hell not something I want now. I just want to be entertained without gimmicky games, terrible interviews, and lame back-and-forth.

The stripper thing is the only alternative Mike can think of because it requires the least amount of work on his part. He lacks any creativity or imagination, so it is either strippers or what you have now...warmed over YouTube clips, bad games nobody likes and interviews with people no one has heard of who Mike doesn't allow to answer questions.

I love the fact that he reads this site, or at least his stupid ass dingleberry in-studio cronies. It's hard not to know it's out there when it comes up as the 4th option on a google search. Mike is a lazy drunk that had it too good for too long. I'm glad he's failing.

I think it is interesting the Mike keeps saying that forums like this don't matter. That's why he keeps bringing them up. On the air. Because WJFK management and his advertisers read them. And they look at his crappy numbers. And they call him up. And they beat the shit out of him. And he goes back on the air and bitches about this and other forums. Mike is in a tailspin.

Note he only takes screened calls. That was a big part of the old show. Don could handle negative callers--even put them in their place most of the time. I've grown convinced the reason he loves his "texters" is he can screen what he wants (positive) out of what he doesn't (negative) and no one knows.

Oh and I finally listened to the podcast of his "raveout" and it was pretty weak and most likely not about this site. No offense. However, his hatred for the message boards on WJFK's Web site to me means he definitely is aware of this site. If that was a question.

My My My,............

I had to listen to the rave out. The finish or crescendo was what I found the most interesting culminating with "I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!"

He's right about that! Mike has been languishing in the radio equivalent of Dante's Hell every since he took over. His display of self confidence borders on schizophrenic. As he stated he's not going to change anything on the show so the only question left is how many levels are left to descend?

As for the strippers? He could be trolling for the next future O'Meara mistress. Odds are there's some lucky lady ready to hitch her wagon to that rising star but with his reputation it will take some time.

One thing to his credit,(since he wants some credit from us) that little Bitch performed some of his best radio during that tantrum I've heard him do in quite some time. And the irony is, he has us to thank for that! F U very hard you creepy, limped dick degenerate bastard.

Its funny when he takes on the most important matter in his self interest, ratings, he tries to qualify it with nonchalant comments like he doesn't care or talk that much about them on the show whether good or bad. Can he really believe his plunge can be tied to the change to Arbitron's PPM system? This is the only time I've heard him rave out on this topic and what do you know! Just happens to be when he's in 12th place for obvious reasons any two year old can understand and that's what really makes him mad.

If Don was in the wheel house he'd produce a jingle like he did when the old show dropped to 15th. That was funny.....And entertaining.... And self deprecating.
Three valuable, personal qualities Mike O'Meara can't replicate with any sincerity on his part or believability on the listeners behalf whatsoever.

As the old saying goes," Your doing the Lords work in the Devils City" Tone.
Keep up the good work!!................That oughta drive em crazy

Like I said before. Once the Cap numbers filter through and if, as we suspect, his numbers drop back into the 20s, is he going to bring that up? I don't think so.

And Mike can attack the PPMs all he wants. The fact is, they are the new industry standard. CBS is making programming decisions based on them. I don't know if PPMs are the best way of measuring listeners. But having people fill out diaries and send them in to Arbitron is nowhere near scientifically accurate.

Tough shit, Mike. You can't change the world.

I figure DCRTV is the real target because people in the industry (including media buyers) read it. I have no doubt when a particularly scathing piece of data shows up on the thing that the sales manager goes in and bitches to Hughes about Mike.

Mike is also turning to platform of the show to satify his own needs and hobbies. Seems like all of his "remotes" are done at some place/location to serve his own needs, schedule, interests, freebies, etc. He doesnt do a remote because it may be interesting or add something valuable to the show. It's done because he has free tix to an event nearby (ie. Caps game) or gets access to ride motorcycles or freebies (Harley Davidson). 50% of the show is now spent talking about motorcycles and hanging out with cops..... BORING!!!!!!!!

His lashing out was directed to all, DCRTV and us with our scant little 100,000+ views. The term "haters" is used frequently on this thread my part in humor and jest only. Most of us don't hate Mike but he thinks we do because we dare to call his lame ass effort at radio onto the carpet. We have a lot of fun here and that only drives him more crazy. We treat Mike and his posse like mice cats find, play with, toss around, throw up in the air, shake in a figure eight, and pounce on just when they think their going to escape. It didn't sound like Mike was having much fun during his tantrum yesterday. And I'll guarantee you he really hates us.

Yes. I'm not a biker but I wonder how many bikers tune into MOM during their commute? And how is this demographic going to boost his dreaded Arbitron PPM ratings. He's so scary smart though I'm sure he's got a way to quantify that factor.

I have to wonder if WJFK actually gets paid for those kinds of remotes. I bet anything the bar he was at before the Caps game didn't pay the station shit (why would they? They were going to be packed regardless of Mike being there). And I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't negotiate the Harley deal as some sort of charitable thing in support of Rolling Thunder or motorcycle safety. If they are doing this stuff for free, the sales staff must be going out of their minds.

Mike hates websites because he is full of shit and websites like this call him on it. I still remember when he use to brag about his “great ratings” and “millions of listeners” and then WashingTone Locian called him on it . He didn’t have “great ratings”, he wasn’t even in the top 20 and was close to last even in small markets like Wichita where he was only beating 2 crappy Mexican stations. He didn’t have “millions of listeners”, he had around 71,000.

Same with Carla, people on this site exposed what she was and predicted that when Mike’s money was gone, she would be too, and they were right.
Mike hates this site because it calls him on his bullshit. It gets more hits than his own websites and comes up within the top five in search results for either Mike O’Meara or Mike O’Meara show. Even if the website owners take down this site tomorrow, it has been archived and will be out there and searchable until the end of the web as we know it.
Whether it is a future girlfriend , a potential advertiser, or the parent of a friend of his daughters, if they Google Mike O’Meara or the Mike O’Meara show, they are going to get this site. I think a future girlfriend of Mikes should be forewarned about him dating an ex-stripper with abuse and drug problems who is 21 years younger than him. I think a potential advertiser should know about his last place ratings and overpriced advertising rates and realize they could advertise on other stations cheaper with more reach. And lastly, I think parents of friends of his daughters should realize that this grown man, who is 50 years old, is going around with “Buzz Babes” who are basically the same age as his own daughters. As a parent, I would want to know if my child was hanging around a house of some old, drunk, pervert.

Mike hates this website because it is a mirror that reflects back his true character.

A few notes:

1. I dont think Ive ever listened to a remote broadcast that was the least bit entertaining. The only ones entertained seems to be the on-air "talent" as they seemingly get free trips to Vegas or AC or get to drink free at a local bar or get to hang around cops on motor bikes at the local Harley dealership. I dont understand why they dont ditch these entirely and just take a vacation day if they dont feel like doing the show in studio.

2. Mike makes me cringe as well everytime he refers to "The Mike Omeara Show" or text me at Mike Omeara @ aol or send me an email at the Mike Omeara show.com. His car tags/plates probably have his own name on it. It's seemingly still a novelty to him that he has his own show. Probably just an insecurity thing. Reminds me of Senator Burris from Chicago who already has his grave site inscribed with all of his "accomplishments." Mike seemingly likes to brag about everything from Carla (when he had her), to gaining access to places because of his "celebrity." He's probably one of those annoying friends that we all have that spends 99.9% of his time talking or bragging about himself and all that he has and doesnt ask you one question about how you or your family is doing.....

3. At least Mike doesnt spend the entire show saying "Ric, Donkey, Nubs and Huurting".....

I've read most of the posts on these 65 pages and have come to the conclusion that most people aren't Mike O'Meara naysayers or haters. They just want Mike to make some effort to provide a good show. His show is a huge dropoff in quality from what most listeners were used to for over 20 years and the ratings reflect it. Mike can complain about DCRTV and FFU all he wants but his efforts are putting WJFK into a big financial hole.

Mike needs to go back to BAY country 103 where he belongs.

My understanding is that the sales staff at WJFK can't stand Mike. He kisses up to management at the station so that when the sales department can't make their numbers because of Mike's ratings, management comes in and berates sales while letting Mike skate. It's a bad situation all around.

If I were MOM and this site or DCRTV bothered me so much - I'd suck it up and do something Don would have done - get someone from DCRTV and/or FFXU on air.

It would make for great/uncomfortable radio.

But that means MOM and his crack staff would actually have to do something/anything.

And why go to uncharted waters when MOM knows millions of listeners are crying for the adventure of a remote broadcast from a Harley dealership or strippers on the radio - both certified "radio gold".

Im a newbie to this site, having just discovered it, and after reading several dozen posts I am curious about something:

The overwhelming majority of posts on this thread are strongly critical of the Mike O'Meara show (I'm not that familiar with the show myself, I just moved to Fairfax), and yet you provide such specific details in your criticism that it is clear that you listen to the show.

If you don't like the show, don't listen to it. It's not as though anyone has a gun to your head.

How do you know the specific details are accurate? Nice try, Beth Ann.

I never said any details were accurate, but if I go back a few posts you yourself said, "I just listened to his podcast and he, predictably, bragged about his 12th-place finish and bitched that nobody, including one specific local website, gave him credit."

That pretty clearly told me that you listened to the show. Why listen to it if you hate it so much. Im no apologist for the show, but why would you listen to something that makes you angry?

Just curious huh? About what? Why people listen to a show they hate? Some people love to hate.

Some people DON'T listen at all but just hate Mike.

Some people really want the show to be as good as D&M was and they check in periodically and find great disappointment. And where else can they go to vent such disappointment and frustration?

Some people like the show and they express their appreciation freely and people are ok with it.

But then there are others who are basically the exact same as the "MO'M Show Haters" except they hate the "haters". They seem bothered by the fact that people don't like the show and make personal insults. They tell people to turn it off if they don't like it but they keep coming back here to get bothered by the "haters".

I can only assume that they fit into the first category because if they took their own advice they wouldn't come back to this thread.

Anything else you're curious about?

Why do people slowdown to watch an accident on the highway? Same thing.

I find it interesting that you register and your first post on this forum is the MOM thread criticizing posters here. Sounds to me like you are a JFK-er posing as an innocent bystander. Why can't you people be honest and say who you are?

I listened to the podcast because someone on this forum said that Mike "went off on this site." That's why I pulled it up. I don't listen to MOM anymore. I might pick up some things about the show from this forum or DCRTV, but I don't listen to that shit.

Natalie Dylan? The chick who auctioned her virginity, what...A YEAR AGO????

Yeah. "Bullshit." I do believe THE ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD called BULLSHIT on that....A YEAR AGO!!!!!

What great fucking insight from fat-ass O'Meara. Oh...and Howard Stern LAUNCHED the whole thing.

Jesus. Not only not an original thought, but about a year late to the fucking dance!

The Louis CK disc I was listening to ended before MOM was over today so I tuned in to catch the end of his show. Mike was mystified at the "hypocrisy" of a pro-life (he assumes) conservative (he assumes) religious (he assumes) person shooting a doctor who performs late-term abortions. In a church no less.

Now I fully understand that Mike is a left-wing, pinko pinhead but he just keeps showing how much of a moron he really is. I don't condone murder in any circumstance but Mike fails to mention the hypocrisy of a pro-choice, late-term abortionist who shares Mike's own political views committing countless murders of viable fetuses while belonging to the "party of compassion", the party that is against capital punishment of convicted rapists and murderers, the party that is anti-war, anti-gun and anti any type of discrimination or violence against anyone or anything unless it is an unborn fetus.

The funniest part is that Mike does not realize that every time he or Buzz gets up on the old liberal soapbox and spews their uneducated venom they are alienating essentially half of their diminishing audience with each word. I would even go so far as to say that more than half of the demographic that MOM gets (white, male, educated, employed, living in local expensive suburbs) falls on the opposite side of the political spectrum from him. This guy is truly a fool's fool.

Mike's rant aside, Doyle's comments about Dr. Tiller reflect the general ignorance the Religious Right wraps itself in when it comes to late term abortion. Tiller wasn't taking lives, he was saving them. He aborted fetuses that would not have survived outside the womb in order to save the lives of mothers. You mistake the scientific term "past viability" to mean that the fetus would be viable at birth. Tiller never aborted babies at random, as Bill O'Reilly and company claimed. He aborted fetuses without brains or that were missing hearts or other vital organs that would have prohibited them from surviving outside of the womb in instances where their births threatened the lives of the mother.

Sorry Tone but that is not correct. While Tiller may have had the opportunity to "save" the mother on occasion the rest of the time he was terminating the unwanted pregnancies of minors, performing abortions of convenience under the guise of "depression in the mother" or other "mental impairment". Not health issues but issues where the mother was going to be unfairly "punished with a baby". He justified murder.

If he was such a good Samaritan how come he was one of only four left in the country who did this? Why did he contribute massive amounts of money to left-wing politicians in Kansas so he could continue what he did at $5k a pop? This is all against Kansas law without the consultation and agreement of a second physician. The one Tiller used was on his payroll. This was a business.

Mike tries to pick and choose political hot issues to take a side on because he thinks he is in the majority and will garner support from his listeners. He simply is not smart enough to pick the right issues.

MOM continued his upward climb in the second week of May (which I predicted). Let me be the first to congratulate Mike for having a show that led into the Caps play-off games against the Penguins...

JFK Continues Up Trend In PPMs - 6/2 - CBS guy talker WJFK continues to trend upward (from 21st in early April to 15th now) in the latest round of Portable People Meter radio ratings for DC, the second week of May, full-week, age 12+: 1) WTOP [1st in both drivetimes], 2) WHUR [Harvey 2nd], 3) WASH [Loriloo 6th], 4) WAMU, 5) WIHT [Kane 4th], 6) WMMJ [Harvey 8th] and WBIG, 8) WETA, 9) WRQX [Diamond 5th], 10) WMZQ and WWDC [Elliot 10th], 12) WGTS, 13) WKYS [Parr 14th], 14) WPGC [Simpson 13th], 15) WJFK [Junks 10th, O'Meara 11th], 16) WMAL [G&A 14th, Rush 10th, Hannity 17th], 17) WPRS, 18) WTEM and WLZL, 20) WTGB, 21) WJZW, 22) WFRE, 23) WWEG, 24) WBQB and WAVA, 26) WPFW. More: 30) WTNT, 34) WACA, 37) WFED and WILC and WYCB.....

The big question is, will O'Meara's ratings for the weeks when the Caps weren't playing be that high? My guess would be, "no." But I could be wrong.

MOM will certainly have found a way to defy the laws of physics if he maintains his climb towards top 10 ratings. May be this will inspire him to work a little harder on production but this is not his track record. I predict he will slide back to #18 with in 4 weeks.

Unfortunately this will lend credence to his professed belief that the ratings system has changed causing wild fluctuations in the results of his show. All he'll do when the time comes is say that ratings go up and down and that he will stay the course knowing that the show will rebound again. He'll be right to. If he's still around next year and the Caps make a run the ratings windfall will benefit him again.

He says he didn't have a choice when Don left but to carry on implying that he has produced the best show possible, giving 100% in Dons absence. I also remember him saying while Don was still on board that one of the things he was going to do is have a lot more guests. He was more worried in how to fill 4 hrs a day than genuine entertainment commensurate with the shows history.

There hopefully will be something lurking on free radio that will drive a stake straight through this losers heart. Be of good cheer my fellow posters. All things must pass. This includes mediocre radio talent.

Just in from DCRTV - MOM's inevitable slide to the bottom of the PM drive-time ratings commences!! With no Caps playoff lead-in, it will be 18 next week, then back home to 21st place the following week!! Team MOM is consistent, if nothing else!!

WTOP Again Tops PPMs - 6/9 - Another round of those Portable People Meter radio ratings for DC, third week of May, full-week, age 12+: 1) WTOP [1st in both drivetimes], 2) WHUR [Harvey 2nd], 3) WASH [Loriloo 6th], 4) WAMU, 5) WBIG, 6) WRQX [Diamond 4th] and WIHT [Kane 7th], 8) WETA-FM, 9) WMMJ [Joyner 8th] and WWDC [Elliot 13th], 11) WGTS, 12) WMZQ, 13) WKYS [Parr 11th], 14) WPGC [Simpson 14th], 15) WPRS, 16) WMAL [G&A 14th, Rush 9th, Hannity 18th], 17) WTGB and WJFK [Junks 12th, O'Meara 15th], 19) WLZL and WTEM, 21) WJZW [Imus 22nd], 22) WAVA, 23) WFRE and WBQB and WWEG, 26) WAVA. Yeah, O'Meara sucks. Seriously, if he thought his ratings were up due to something he was doing, he is sadly mistaken.

Even worse for O'Meara is he had a tailor-made audience for his show from the Caps pre-games - 18 to 35 males. And you know what? They DID NOT STICK AROUND. They heard his show and were like, "Fuck this. I'm switching back to DC101."

Check out page three of today's Post Sports Section - in an article about the JFK flip to sports talk, the Junks appear to be the only survivors.

The clock has been ticking MOM - when the suits in NYC saw your ratings bump was all vapor, they probably had no choice,

Imagine the shame - MOM's going to be replaced by LaVar Arrington and Mike Wise - so much for your 30 years of broadcasting excellence MOM!!

MOM - talent stolen from Donnie G. (props to Rush's EIB tag line...)!!

Hell, I may even listen today, MOM's got to ackowledge the Post article...

Finally. The death blow we've all been waiting for. I will listen today for sure. I really hope, in some twisted way that as MOM nears the end of his shows he goes on a huge diatribe about DCRTV and this site. That would be awesome.

What a nice way to wake up. I hope the paperboy didn't miss Mikes house this AM.

I still don't understand the appeal of sports talk.

ESPN 980 is 17th among 25-54 year olds, WJFK is 13th (MOM is dragging the rest of the station down IMO).

On the other hand, it may force Snyder to change his stable over to something else (except Redskins games), or even make an offer for WJFK to CBS if WJFK can get some of the other local contracts (Caps, Nats, Wizards, DC United, UMD, G-town.) They already have the Caps and UMD men's basketball.

I suspect a Spanish broadcaster might pay decent bucks for 980 as its coverage/signal is nearly as good as an FM stick. Not sure who'd want 570, 730, 1260, 92.7, or 94.3 from Snyder ... I suspect the major operators are leveraged up to their eyeballs.

Red Zebra properties:
WTNT 570 - second-string righty talk
WXTR 730 - Spanish sports talk
WTEM 980 - ESPN sports talk (pretty good signal for an AM station)
WWRC 1260 - Air America's lefty talk although I've seen as many informercials as Air America shows (weak signal, but it's in DC which is where you need lefty talk)
WWXT 92.7 - ESPN sports talk (serves PG and points east)
WWXX 94.3 - ESPN sports talk (serves Warrenton and points SW of DC)

WXGI 950 Richmond - ESPN sports talk, fairly weak signal

WXTG 102.1 VA Beach - Fox sports talk
WXTG 1490 Hampton - Fox sports talk

I'm as baffled as you are about the sports flip phenomenon. It seems that when all else fails its sports talk. Automatic. In JFK's situation we saw a spike with the Caps coverage, 20th -21st to 12th. Mike O has been trying to flip his show, by design I'm sure, to more sports talk anyway. This hasn't seemed to stop his inevitable slide back to 21st.

It just seems like a weird sort of purgatory or parking lot for dying radio stations. Sports talk just good enough to keep the station alive.

What the hell! Hughs should start playing Christmas music in July!

The only way WJFK can succeed at sports talk is crushing Dan Snyder and embracing the best of his women. Or something like that. If Snyder cries uncle the way Z104 did a couple years ago in the battle of the Top 40 stations, it forces Snyder to flip his sports talk stations or to buy WJFK. (I'm guessing Snyder isn't tapped out the way Clear Channel or XMSR are.)

Thanks to Daddy! also he can always raise parking rates at FEDEX.
The short little F looks like he's already been crushed.

I'm all giddy! I'll be listening to. An all out melt down would be High- Larrious!! However if he doesn't wax virile, there should be some subtle referencing to the press.

It'll be funny 1 week after he thanked everyone for the great ratings and that we have "liked the show and told our friends about it", and the support of the stations staff what a bunch of CRAP. After all what are the sales staff going to sell now?

Maybe CBS is going to do something uber-clever like: spread the rumor JFK will flip to sports talk, causing Lil' Danny to panic and buy the bloated, stinking carcas from CBS! Could be a brilliant move...

Oh, the reference to the "bloated, stinking carcas" is the radio station, not MOM!

Damn dapjdj! Your a deep thinker. And funny. How ever your conspiratorial theory is plausible, somewhat unlikely, but plausible. Factor in Snyder's knack for making solid business decisions and you have a real possibility!

In a few short weeks, if the stars to indeed magically align, WJFK will be covering the 'Skins training camp 7x24 as a "sports talker".

What will the staff of the MOM Show be up to? Let's check out the 'ol FFXU crystal ball:

Mom: Drunk at "xxxxxxxxxxxx" a 2pm every afternoon. (Substitute "xxxxxxxx" with any western FFX/Manassas bar or golf course with an ABC license.)

BA McBride: Part-time sales associate specializing in indoor Astroturf installations at "Dixie Discount Floor Covering Warehouse Outlet, Charlotte, NC".

'Buzz' Burbank: Creepy part-time shower room attendant at the "Fists of Fury Marshal Arts Center, Worldgate, Herndon, VA".

Rob(b) Spewak: Finally achieving his rightful place in the broadcast industry - part-time weekend overnight board-op (12pm - 4am shift), WJFK-FM, FFX, VA.

What Tiller was aborting were beyond "fetuses". They were fully formed babies in the final trimester. He did it purely for the high fees he could charge, not to "save lives". Also, every single pro-life group has condemned in the strongest possible terms the murder of Tiller. These are the facts libs. Go ahead and alter reality to make it suit your views. You do it with everything else.
