Contrast the facebook post with what he actually says at the opening of the show. And don't forget, his mom is dead.
LFF: "But I will tell you this, umm, as the day uhh, went on and then as we went into the evening, uhm, for me, an- and now, this could be because of my mom, it's my mom's birthday today, by the way.."
Blob(b): "Awww."
LOLscar: "Man."
LFF: "To, to, you know, so happy birthday to mom, god rest your soul, I will, I will tell you as the day went on, it could be a variety of factors. That might have a little bit to do with it, that I just had a loss in my life, a personal loss. It could be 2016, uhm, I know somebody, on, uhh, one of the sites, posted the number of celebrities that we have lost in the year 2016, it, it's somewhat stunning."
(bunch of laughing and crap, LFF offers to give LOLScar the day off if he can't be sincere)
LFF: "Let me just try to make it clear."
Blob(b): "OK."
LFF: "I, I didn't expect, because I wasn't a guy who lined up to go to concerts, I wasn't somebody that when he was associated with the radio station, I wanted to be the guy there. I played his- tons of his music in the 80's and at the clubs, but I never tracked with it, and I, uh, it's like something when you lose something that's the only time we value it sometimes."
Blob(b): "Yeah, yep."
LFF: "And that would be the example we have with Prince. I looked up the word icon: a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something. And I guess Prince would be a symbol of musical genius."
Blob(b): "Yeah"
(more inane chatter)
LFF: "So as the evening went on, I said, you know, am I gonna band wagon this? Yeah, I'm gonna band wagon this. Because you know what, radio stations are doing this, uhh video channels are doing this, you're- you're hearing a lot of this, but I figured, with our listeners, to uhh, actually take with you, when you listen- when you're working out, when you're on one of your trips, I thought that it would just be kinda cool to uh, pay a musical tribute to Prince. I used to- you know, I cut my teeth playing records, ladies and gentlemen. That's the way this goes down, so uhh, for all of you, this is a list that I've compiled of some of my favorite Prince songs and we're going to play them on the show today. We'll talk in between, we'll bust chops in between, but uhh, we'll let you enjoy the music of Prince on the Mike O'Meara show. Enjoy."

LFF: "Just.. eh-eh-eh As I said, as this news broke yesterday, and as this went on and I was listening to people, not only was I feeling sadness, and that could be, you know, I- I'm self aware when it comes to this, that could be a variety of reasons, but."
Blob(b): "Yeah."
LFF: "I was also, just fascinated by the story, because, I guess because I never saw him in concert I had this- it was sooo much on my bucket list, and I'm not saying this because he passed away, it was the top of my list to see him live. And I do not like going to concerts."
Blob(b): "I know. We actually talked about this on the phone this morning, one of our rare pre-show phone conversations. We both have never seen Prince in concert, but we both wanted to, but we also didn't feel an urgency."
LOLScar: "He was just here at the Warner theater."
Blob(b): "Yeah, I said, you know, we'll catch him next time."
LFF: "Oh god, at the Warner? Oh my god, that would be- oh god."
(1:18:40)
LFF: "Well, hope you've enjoyed this uhh, it's really really uhh great to have you joining us for this tribute to Prince and really, uhh, iconic is uhh, a great word, you hear it a lot, but uh, it applies, and he meant an awful lot to me and I can't think of a better show to do UUGHHHH (some weird grunt/throat clear?) on my mom's birthday. Take care everybody."
