Kudos to Oscar for calling out (albeit in a slight way) Chubb for behaving like his daughter’s friend rather than as her parent. (After Chubb gleefully yakked about exchanging “funny” texts with his daughter at the back of the auditorium during the school drama meeting.) I’m no fan of Kelly Ripa, but Chubb should take her advice (as reported recently in various media outlets): “I don’t think she likes me, but I don’t care. I’m like, ‘I’m not your friend, I’m your mom,” Ripa told Wendy Williams.

That anecdote from Chubb was after he blamed his daughter’s friends for her Fallout Boy contest cheating. (Again, Oscar called him out on that, reminding him that it was HE who encouraged the cheating among his own friends on Facebook.)

Also kudos for Ponyboy for firing off a great line at Chubb:

Chubb: “I ran for a few elective offices during my school days.”
Ponyboy: “That’s the only time you’ve ever run, period.”

What he's done with his life certainly isn't anything to brag about. He's got a house because a family member died. His "job" hangs by a thread.

Y'know, he probably did. Every now and again, a theater club loser would lose track of his place in the universe, and try to run for something, and they'd soon recall that life is not a movie, and the whole school isn't going to say, "Hey! Let's all support this kid; he's being real brave!" More like, "What's his name? Who? The fat kid? No, I don't think so."

...and then they immediately stopped to acknowledge that someone actually said something funny. Everytime an intern has a good one-liner, they have to make a big to-do about how it proves the intern has a little bit of "the comedy gene". What other podcast does this? This is supposed to be a comedy show, a funny one-liner should be the norm, not the exception. Shouldn't everyone on mic have "the comedy gene".

Because, of course, Chubb is the only one of the crew permitted to bring the funny. Which is why the show has been on a slow death spiral since its inception.

On a sidenote, Chubb has sounded increasingly frenetic with each show LFF misses. Listen to yesterday's show. The fat fucker sounds like he downed 20 Red Bulls before getting on mic. It's as if he fears a millisecond of dead air, lest someone in the room slip and reveal the truth about LFF's condition.

The truth is painful. Why would Klubber Lang here care about us if he didn't realize on some level that our criticisms/jibes/jokes re. TMOS ring so damn true? I certainly don't care one whit about the comments of someone who doesn't care for a quality show I happen to enjoy.

Agreed -- particularly as Carla kept Jr. away from Mike for a month in Maine. No biggie, since at that point that period only constituted 7 or 8% of Jr's life!

He is really drinking the Kool-Aid Oscar is pouring. Oscar has 1-2 other jobs and seemingly does more for TMOS than Fatt Rob does, but they're both primary bread-winners, paying that mortgage.

I would imagine they will have ZERO swag to sell as it would require them to pay for them beforehand and they can barely afford to post a show...They certainly can't pay to fix their Audio/video stream

How funny? A former "major market" D-double E-J-A-Y doesn't have at least one connection in the music biz who can score his teenage daughter a grip and grin with a third rate band?

He was even the "producer" for a nationally syndicated radio show. Are you telling me he doesn't have one phone number in his Rolodex who can set him up to help his daughter meet her favorite band?

How utterly pathetic. He must have sucked at both "producer" and "deejay".

At the time, Safeway workers were unionized. So they did pay him handsomely (meaning, 10% above minimum wage), but they took over 15% in union dues. He never mentioned that part...

Does Iowa still have casino boats cruising the Mississippi River? When Robb's kids graduate high school, I see him relocating and being an MC slash entertainer on one. Cary will not be accompanying him.

But then I am obsessed with a man much more successful than I am. In order for that to be true, I must be accessing the internet at the library.

For the sake of the show, I hope his daughter fails to get the part of Mrs. Hannigan. On the other hand, I hope she gets to meet Fall Out Boy. Does that balance out my vitriolic hatred for Spewak?

When I say "the show," I mean TMOS, not the middle school production of Annie. I am not that horrid.

Doesn't take much to out-logic you, Wes. I like the "Holy S," because we all know that makes you a better person.

Is that Mike's 2nd wife in front of him? I know she was pretty short...

Not if that pic was taken in 1986. He didn't marry Laura until the early 90's.

Yeah, he's a rebel. Eating his way into an early grave with no real job -- a firm belief that everybody owes HIM, and his genius just isn't being properly appreciated.

"Mike O'Meara is a podcast personality, the host of The Mike O'Meara Show, previously a nationally syndicated radio show which returned as a podcast. Previously he was the co-host of the nationally syndicated The Don and Mike Show. He was also the co-host of The Kirk and Mike Show weekday mornings on WVRX-FM in the Washington DC area from 2010 to 2011."

Two actual and one implied "previously."

from the Reno visitors website -- you think they or Robbay made the typo? Or could they be going for the world record for longest stage show by a one radio station podcast? (It's a new category).

Oscar's going to use Mike's phone to take a photo of his room number so Mike can find it later tonight. They still haven't figured out how to ensure Mike keeps phone with him, charged, and that he can remember how to access his photo gallery. Plan B: use permanent marker to write number on his arm. Or both arms. Or both arms and ear lobe (for hotel staff to read).

Good news/bad news re. the Reno show:

Good: a big chunk of their potential old D&M Sacramento audience will be in town. Bad: they'll be at Harrah's Convention Center for the Vicki Lawrence and Mama show.

Same date, same time. Bad luck.

spot the lies...

The Mike O’Meara show, downloaded over 14 million times, with tens of thousands of daily listeners worldwide, will present a live stage show at the world-famous Circus Circus Hotel and Casino in Reno, Nevada. The event is set for Saturday, November 15th at 8 p.m. in the Mandalay Ballroom.

The Mike O’Meara Show—frequently the top comedy download on iTunes—will perform a live podcast, recreating Mike’s living room studio, and will include many of the show’s daily features, with many surprises. The show can be heard daily at www.MikeOMearaShow.com

This trailblazing show is more than just a podcast phenomenon, it’s a personal part of the lives of its unbelievably dedicated listeners. That same show now returns to the stage for a night that won’t be forgotten.
This event also promises to be a sell-out, with a few tickets still available to purchase for just $40 including all taxes by calling 775-329-0711. Stay the night with some great room packages.

They mentioned that Jimmy Cerrito is making the trip out to Reno.

As if anyone else needed anymore of a reason to not go to the Reno show...

It's bizarre that they don't record these shows. Every other podcast I listen to records their live shows. Every single one. It's a unique and dynamic.

Woah woah woah, you just used the words "unique" and "dynamic" to describe TMOS. I'm going to have to call foul on that.

Don't worry everyone, I can assure you that LFF is fine and now on his way to Reno. In fact, I'm sitting just a few rows behind him. Good thing he lost 20 lbs in the hospital; I'd hate for him to have to pay for two seats.

From CNN:

"The horrible smell which had been permeating the air east of the Mississippi has suddenly cleared.

Authorities were perplexed, until they realized that the entire TMOS krew had flown to Reno.

Those in the Reno area should be advised that you will notice a strong sewage odor in the air and stay indoors if possible."

Sorry, I mistyped. I meant to indicate that live podcasts are a unique dynamic that most smart podcasters capitalize on recording and distributing them.
