It was tonight's episode, I listened to the live stream, they didn't get specific about which haters they were talking about but Oscar did bring up a couple times that it might not be hate or jealousy, it might be passion. So he may understand, but just can't say it because Mike(and Chad to a lesser extent) would never understand and berate him like they try to do us. it's about 30-40 minutes into the show. When it posts, I can be more specific about the time.

The fact that they are now a "closed" Facebook group is astoundingly appropriate. I wonder how many true fans used to lurk the fan site but simply didn't want to be officially associated with that group of monsters. Additionally, what better way to promote the brand than to close off your group. Which means that posts within the group (many of which are using the #TMOS1000 hashtag) won't be viewable to the public. Thus, they have successfully limited the spread of #TMOS1000 by their own hand.

Bravo, men and women. They have successfully turned the group into what it truly is= an insulated Jackoff Fest.

Exactly, I'm going to lay off twitter a while, maybe they'll think they "won". I do appreciate all the advice on how not to get reported/banned on twitter, I haven't really used it before. I appreciate a community that helps.

Oscar knows what we're talking about. Just compare this thread to the BOAD one. Not as much "Hate".

Be honest now, do you think there is one person this show would fall apart without? I think without Oscar, more than 25% of the shows that do happen wouldn't and Mike would be hard-pressed to find a replacement, between his anger issues and stellar attitude.

100% agree. What would that show even be? Robb would take over and it would be a 20 minute vignette and 30 minute audio vault every day. Truly a narrowcasted show for two. So much cackling. I literally shudder to think what that would sound like.

I'm sure it's coming. Their 'sleuthing' will be ultimately fruitless. They have no way of knowing if one of their members is also a member of FFXI. Not to mention we're talking about stay at home moms here. They couldn't sleuth out a peanut in elephant shit.

Definitely. I've seen it many times on forums populated by stay-at-homes. Someone anonymously posts something the clique doesn't like and the forum disintegrates in a cloud of finger-pointing and drama. Typically, they think they're a lot more clever than they really are with their attempts at sleuthing, so they attack each other until all that is left is smugness and hurt feelings. LOL

I've only visited a few times but Aliece reminds me of forums past and I expect some hilarity from her and her hangers-on when anyone who doesn't march in delusional lockstep with the rest of Stepford get accused and then banned until the TMOS fan page consists of five people.

I'm sure the exiled will be welcomed here with open arms. :-)

Yeah I get the feeling that David Monath will soon be labeled a heretic and burned at the stake. This is McCarthyism mob mentality at it's core. Can you imagine the grilling the next poor bastard who asks to join their club will receive? Now they will vet each candidate and have a probationary period. Way to make the show grow kids...who wouldn't want to be a part of this action and hope one day to be annointed that you have passed muster and.... 'Get It' (But you better watch your ass because we are)

OK, it's obvious David knows where he can come to once the ban hammer falls, he is also pretty careful with his wording so when he eventually gets banned it will obviously be because of wonder woman's vindictiveness. So can I be banned from the Ustream chat? Just wondering in case it happens tomorrow.

Aww, look at them patting themselves on the back for closing the group even though at least 2 of us are members of their cute little fan cult. But at least they get to talk shit in relative peace. There's a trick they picked up from Mike. Hear something they don't like, tell the source off and then block that person and continue to trash them so they can feel like they've won.

I salute Aliece for "favoring" a tweet to boost the #tmos100; her support of the special needs community that would compose a nonsensical rambling message ending in "everday" and incorporating the term buttplugs is commendable. If only I wasn't stewing in my own piss, I would "favor" her post.

Dear TMOS Fan Club Members,

I hope that many (or at least some) of you are reading this. You guys are missing a fundamental element of this thread's composition. Many of us, in fact a large faction, were huge TMOS podcast fans. I myself was an annual Bonus show subscriber for 3 years. Amongst the sometimes hateful parts of this thread are those of us who are mostly just sad and disappointed at what TMOS has become. I challenge you to go back and listen to a show from 1-200 and tell me how it compares to a show from 800-1000. They are like night and day. In the early days, Robb didn't cackle like a hyena at the mere scent of a Mike joke. In the early days, Robb didn't lean so heavily on his verbal crutches (Wait, wait....who are you??, etc.) In the early days, Oscar had more of a role than the third wheel watching as Mike and Robb perform a show for themselves. In the early days, Buzz was around to give a much needed balance to any meaningful topic of discussion.

As the show started to deteriorate, we started trying to have discussion on the TMOS website. Marc (and now Pony alike) treated those comment threads like Nazi Germany. Anything not glowing praise was wiped immediately. We tried taking to the show's actual Facebook page. Similar results. Some of us tried your precious TMOS fan site. Are you seeing the trend here? All we have is FFU to discuss aspects of the show that we all loved at one time.

So please do not blanket FFU as merely a hate site. This is where we've been driven to. This is our sanctuary.

Sincerely,
Greg

It's also appropriate because it reflects the attitude - and accessibility - of The Mike O'Meara Show.

Many of the current posters are daily listeners. Most are fans, or were fans. I know that several have posted that they root for the show.

So why has TMOS alienated so many people who have a vested interest? It's a podcast, meaning you have to take action to hear it, and it's fans are revolting practically. Is there another show like this?

RadioGodsForum.com did something similar back in the day. The let the banhammer fly like luggage on a bad Friday in Manassas. I got banned for tangling with Louis the Retard, of all people, but we made up later. April Dury, AJ McW on the fanclub, was one of the banhappy people. Banning is a lifestyle for some folks.

I requested to join the fan club the day before they closed. I wonder what happened with my application. Not holding my breath.

As has been explained before, Greg Merriweather nailed it. Many of us here have years if not decades invested in the various incarnations of the show and are truly disappointed in what it has become. This board gives us a place to vent those frustrations and maybe, just maybe, nudge it back in the direction that made so many of us fans in the first place.

Speaking only for myself, I started listening to Don when he was on WBBM in Chicago in the early 80's, found D&M when I moved to Wichita in 1994 and have followed the show ever since. I've friended/followed various cast members and even got a letter of mine read on the show a few years ago. Heck, I've even got a TMOS window sticker on the back of my truck (although in the last six months, I've really been tempted to take a razor blade to it.)

Where I turned a corner on the show was when it seemed to go from a tongue in cheek "funny-mean" to a real nasty streak to those who dare cross Mike. For a show that advertises itself as "....a fun mash-up of real life, pop-culture, news of the day, dynamic audio clips, and three guys busting each others' balls." and has embraced Facebook and fan interaction, this just doesn't square up. I know I'm not alone in having been deleted and blocked my Mike for, to this day I still think, was some pretty tame "ball busting". Not to mention the one sided political and gun rants. If I want that, I'll turn on Limbaugh or MSNBC. For a show that for years, did bring the funny, sadly it is doing that less and less.

That being said, every now and then there are flickers of what once was, and that is where I still have a little hope. Usually there are a few throw away lines or brief tangents that remind me what could be once more. Just yesterday when talking about the olympic events they enjoyed, Mike said "men's pairs" skating. Not side splitting funny but it was those little things that used to lead up to little organic bits of ball busting comedy and kept me listening.

Sorry to ramble on but I think we have people reading currently who usually don't venture over to this side of the fence and want them to understand where some of us are coming from.

Don't forget to report the show's account and the Omearacast account as spam or being controlled by someone else. Maybe FDB won't be able to figure out how to get unbanned.

I think the saddest thing for me is the fact that they seem to have fallen so far from where they once where. Don and Mike was such a big hit, and if you listen to Don's show, he still has it. Don really did direct the direction of D & M, and it really shows with TMOS.

Somewhere along the line TMOS became old. As a 30 year old, I just can't relate. Between Robb's deplorable music choices and references to people who were one foot in the grave when I was a child, to Mike's crotchety old man views on life..it's largely forgettable.

Somehow TMOS got away from bits like birthday strippers and replaced it with birthday letter readings. They became tame and uninteresting.

We used to get a glimpse of the past when strife between the cast came out. That was interesting. But this current trend of play-nice radio just doesn't entertain me anymore.

If DonnieG does end up doing a podcast in the next few months, I think that's going to be VERY interesting to see how that plays out. Because if TMOS manages to get this devoted of a fan base, I think Don would just blow it out of the water.

How many people would pay to listen to MO'M answer questions from FFU users in a special bonus show? That could be comedy gold.

Been burned too many times by bonus shows. I will never be tricked into spending money on that crap.

I've listened from the early days. I do not have the opinion that Don and Mike were great radio guys. They seemed to me more like dim-witted kids in the back of the class making fart sounds. They were hit with the lucky stick. Don can hardly put down three sentences in a row without fumbling a couple words. Mike is just ignorant and lazy. I'm 58 and Mike seems 20 years older than me. He doesn't even really know about things like Breaking Bad until it is in its last season. He wouldn't know who Bruno Mars is. He probably doesn't know who Louis CK is. He is unaware of new movies or trends. I mean, he is constantly OUT OF IT.

What has changed for me in my view of them is that I did not realize what horrible people they were on a personal level. And, it is strange to me that they don't even seem to realize the basics of comedy - as in forcing Headdd and Oscarlita to laugh at every possible joke or pun. Or reading the news.....or reading birthdays for twenty minutes as an excuse to do voices.... Or continually dropping names of people who are dead and gone......

And then you find out that Mike doesn't think people like Tiny Fey or Will Ferrell or Ben Stiller or Vince Vaughn and many other successful comics have any talent at all. I mean I started out thinking he was sort of dumb, but now I think he is a complete moron who is also alcoholic, mean, old, obese, bitter and boring.

I think the reason I've been listening less (and certainly don't go for pay add-ons) can be traced to two major causes:

1. Repetition: The constant filler whenever Pony Boy is mentioned, including the amazement that a non-broadcaster with no stated aspirations to be one fumbles on-mic.

2. Overall negativity. I expected D&M to be sarcastic, and TMOS inherited this, but (in general) I find that I can divide podcasts into 'positive' and 'negative' buckets. John Oliver's excellent Bugle podcast is still positive, even though it's covering dire news items much of the time. Chris Hardwick's Nerdist is extremely positive, as is Dan Harmon's Harmontown, which started as a podcast of a guy dealing with getting fired from a network TV job. Sure,t hey may be serious at times, but they're overall positive.

I kind of feel like the show needs another shake-up to have a chance of correcting. I'd like to hear some Robb-free shows to hear how that goes, as Oscar is at least someone who does things, has experiences to share that aren't as predictable, and thinks about telling a story, not filling time with sound clips. He's not perfect, but I think he's trying.

So the big social media push of #TMOS1000 got a hundred or so people involved on twitter.

WOW!

If I was an advertiser, I would be sure to take notice that when they beg people for two weeks to hashtag for their #1000 show, they can only get about 100 people involved.

There were more negative posts on twitter than positive and they had to shut down their fan pages because of all the negative comments.

GOOD WORK TO THOSE INVOLVED! YOU KICK ASS!!!!

My favorite moment in all of this was the guy from the fan club wondering if there were more of us "haters" than there were actual fans of the show... Especially when another of the koolaid drinkers pointed out that there are only 5 of us haters and they have thousands of fans...I thought the love would drown us out...apparently, they need more haters on their side...

I think even the show noticed who was causing the "trend", the only non-"celebrity" tweet they mentioned was from here. It was the one about him laughing while Cary cries in the parking lot at work. Way to go Fan Club, you need to try harder.

My questions to the question email addy

1) What is the deal with the missed shows? Is that a product of Mike's move to FL? Mike claimed greater transparency in 2014. I'm not seeing it. For example, if they are having tech issues, they could always ask their fan base for help with the problem.

2) I generally fast forward thru the Thursday bday wishes. I know TMOS does this as filler and fan service, but does it really need to consume 1/3 of the show for that day? I guess my main problem is the segment is intended as fan service, but Mike doesn't like doing his impressions during the bday segments, which is arguably the funniest trick Mike has, so why won't he give his fans a funny voice for their bday?

3) What happened to the animated series? If it didn't the expected ROI, fine. Just tell us.

4) What is the deal with the lack of cross promotion of other shows in the network?

5) What happened to the book?

6) Mike seems to put on the air of being in finical trouble (taking about bill collectors on the podcast, ...) but he throws money away (gambling, pay channels he doesn't use / know he has, etc), which is fine if it is a joke.

But, it is grating to ask us to support the show and how much they are all hurting for $ and for us to "try harder" in one breath and in the next he talks about gambling, buying a new car, vacations, etc. Especially when they don't seem to be putting forth the effort they are ask us for in return.

Any chance someone here knows how many twitter followers the show had before the start of this "campaign?" Surely that would be the real way to measure what a waste of time it was. Mike should be embarrassed that BOAD had more twitter followers than TMOS.

The only question here that might get addressed is the birthday seg, they can put it as a service to dedicated listeners, even though Mike doesn't "want" to do the voices. This way they can walk both sides of that street. "We don't like it either, but the fans that pay our bills demand it and we like making them happy, etc."

Answers for the rest that you won't get from the show:
1. We don't need help from non-pros.
They've been offered help with Ustream from Steve that works @ Ustream and they won't take it even though they have the worst live stream of all the podcasts I watch live.

2. see above

3. You aren't in charge of deadlines for us. We'll tell you what you need to know.

4. As you were told on Facebook, we mentioned Mickey once.

5. See #3

6. If you would get a job and send us half your income, Mike wouldn't be so put upon. So try harder.

On a different note: I sent my wife ProFlowers for V-day, With the bad weather last week, the flowers froze during delivery and were horrible when she got them. Called customer service and refused to deal with the first CSR, got a "supervisor", asked to be recorded because of how badly the operator treated me.
Short version is I got a full refund, redelivered beautiful flowers yesterday, and the best part was I told him Mike O'Meara would definitely be hearing about this and don't be surprised if he refuses to do business with them again. He doesn't have to waste his reputation on companies like theirs.

A page right out of the TMOS handbook. Mike hasn't used an actual picture of himself on his profile in quite some time, not even a picture with his kid(s), just pictures OF his kids. They still use the WJFK headshot from the D&M days everywhere. And Blobb kept his one "intense face" picture from Reno as his profile for months, while he put all the bags of sugar back on. He was so willing to mention what his doctor said about the weight loss, I wonder what he said about the weight gain.
