Mike O Meara will grow to hate each week, as these dismal numbers will now be coming every seven days.

What a slap in the fat face...real time listenership for LAST WEEK and you are in LAST PLACE.

But it's ok, I see you had another guest from the food network on.
That's good.
For total hack dogshit radio.

Nothing says 18-45 male demo like "The Food Network."

From the looks of that video and the pointless and boring guests and games on the show it seems as if O'Meara really wants to get fired. Either that or he hasn't one shred of talent in his fat load of a body. Ok, he did do a good Jack Kent Cooke impersonation but Cooke is as dead as the O'Meara show soon will be.

You haters are so lame. Don is gone, The show is great. The impressions are hysterical, the interplay between the guys is spot on and the only down times are when he opens it up to the callers, most of whom are as ignorant as you all. Oh god forbid they talk politics, and be exactly right about how the election is gonna turn out. If you aren't smart enough to appreciate the show, don't get mad at them. It just means you're mad dumb.

Couldnt agree more. No point wasting time on this board though, it's a bunch of jealous f-sticks angry at how funny Mike is, angry about Mike's gorgeous fiance, angry about the state of their own p-ss poor lives. Katie is a hottie, as well.

Okay, agree, or should I say "dbldn11" since you replied to your own post within two minutes?

O'Meara's show is rated 20 out of 21. It is a massive failure. Weasel at The Globe, who had a better-rated show, was fired over bad ratings. Mike is toast. His show is awful. And as far as the political talk, I listen to C-SPAN Radio, WAMU and WTOP. When I don't want to listen to those shows, I certainly don't want to tune into O'Meara to hear the same f-ing thing!

Better practice this Mike. It's coming....

I think that "dbldn11" and "agree" are actually Mike O'Meara and Rob-Bay appearing incognito on this web page. Mike - you were ruined the day that Sid sold WBEY Country 103. Also, you do a great Jack Kent Cooke and it was funny back in 1991. However, people can't remember how he talked now - I had to laugh that you even tried doing it. I guess your show is still funny in that regard.

105.9 has Don Imus for morning drive, Cerphe and Cute Traffic Girl for the afternoon drive, and as far as I can tell, is 100% automated/satellite feed the rest of the time.

Not sure if Imus even gets decent ratings anymore, I don't think he was burning up the Arbitrons at Sports Talk 980, and his presence at 105.9 is like his presence at Sports Talk 980, rather incongruous with the rest of the programming.

Speaking of the title subject- how long is MO'M's contract and how much would it cost management to fire him now?

A wise business person would have contingencies in O'Meara's contract that would allow him to be fired for less than the total value of the contract. For instance, poor ratings would be one of the contingencies. However, we are talking about Michael Hughes and WJFK management here, so God only knows what they negotiated. You would think after having their balls in a vice for so many years with Don Geronimo's contract they would be smarter, but I wouldn't count on it.

Mike relys on cheesy games wich was the least entertaining part of the D&M show. Bethanne? PASS! Oh and the old show was compelling cuz of Don's ideas and his chemistry with Mike. I believe the cute brunette is the much maligned Cary, Robb's wife. I think the blond is Karla. Leading to the old axiom, "What the hell is she doing with him?"

You idiots get four hours of free entertainment every day. If you don't like it turn the channel. What is so hard about that? Mike is a funny guy and a great mimmic. All he has to do is impersonate Larry King, Larry Flint, Regis, or a hundred others and it's worth listening to. Judging from some of these lame comments, I don't think most of you would know funny if it bit you in the ass.

Does anyone remember on the old D&M show when they got fed up with the PD and walked out of the studio and left him alone with an open mike? In less that 30 seconds he ran out of things to say and was crying for help. Unlike you people I have never had my own radio talk show, but my guess is that it isn't that easy to be funny for four hours live everyday. I listened to D&M for over 10 years and thought it was great. Don was edgy and interesting, but sometimes dark and a bit mean. Mikes show is FUN. Something to listen to while you are supposed to be working. Maybe you would prefer Rush Limbaugh or Jim Rome, but personally I would rather have my balls cut off. PS If you want funny, think about you losers blogging on a Sat night while Mike is on top of that poa girlfriend of his.

I blog on Saturday night because I banged the shit out of my POA wife earlier in the evening. Unlike Mike, I don't have 10 ex-wives who take me for everything I've got.

And Mike's show isn't fun. It's fake. There is a difference. The laughter is forced and fake. The bits are lazy and lame. Mike is phoning it in. Don used to work. Mike doesn't care and it shows.

Well, it's not surprising. The show just isn't the same without Don -- And I understand Why he finally gave up, never the same after Freda tragically died. Can you blame him? No!

Mike O'Meara really didn't stand a chance on his own. Yes, he is funny and does great impressions, but he needed a real "cohort", a leader, like Don had been. Lacking that Leader, Mike was Lost... And you knew the days/months were numbered.

I sorta feel bad for Mike, he just could pull it off alone, even with the "side-kicks". But I bet he's got plenty of $$$ in the bank, so he won't be hurting, and maybe he'll be back somewhere else later with a new cohort and format.

Let's see. Michael Hughes pulled O&A, but also gave us Junkies in the Morning, Jim Rome, Bill O'Reilly, Peter "McDJ" Rosenburg and Jay Severin while chasing off Ron and Fez in favor of a horrifically bad and short-lived Loveline knock-off. And now the disastrous Mike O'Meara Show. When is someone going to fire this idiot?

Ah, but he has no problems whoring himself out as a shill for Hard Times Cafe! And what about all that Mike O'Meara shit for sale on his website? http://stores.colorworkspromotions.com/WJFK/MIKE-O-SHO/ Remember when Don used to rail against O'Reilly and Limbaugh for doing this shit? What kind of dingaling would order O'Smegma's crappy t-shirts? A few years ago I saw a kid at a flea market with a "CRAP" shirt ( that was O'Smegma's old band). This kid looked like a complete dipshit and I wondered then how much they could sell. By the looks of the weblink, it's just one of these vanity print places that can print one piece at a time or to order. It's not like the old days of silk screening where you'd have to invest and print 100 or so pieces at once. If Mikey sells $500 of this junk, I'd be really impressed.

Mrs.O'Meara, I'm sorry but we really don't like your son's show, though I respect your need to defend him. We could ( and most of us did) turn the channel, but I guess Mikey is fair game after he built a career trashing other past their prime entertainers like Larry King, Cathy Lee, Jerry Lewis etc. Life is cruel and fans are fickle. I wanted Mikey to succeed, but he sucks badly. I like to have a little free FM entertainment on the ride home, but O"Smegma can't provide. Listeners have no obligation to respect or patronize musicians, atheltes, comedians or even strippers that lose their game.In fact, since we were "paying customers" for so many years, we helped give asswipe a chance at his own show. The show is awful, and I hope it's true about January 23rd.

O'Meara had Fred Smoot on today. The volume on Smoot's phone line was so over-modulated, I couldn't understand a thing he was saying. He sounded like a cross between Mush Mouth and Charlie Brown's mom. Fat Ass and Buzz (who, incidentally, wouldn't know Fred Smoot from Smoot Hawley) conducted the interview as if they were oblivious to the fact no one could understand what Smoot was saying. I tried to make it out for a couple of minutes and finally gave up.

On D&M, Don would have gone ape shit over something like that and would have called Michael Hughes on the phone to bitch about it. O'Meara, on the other hand, provided more evidence that he simply doesn't care what shit he puts on the air as long as he gets his check to pay off his myriad of ex-wives.

Why the hell would anyone from Rockville be on this forum?

And as far as Mike O is concerned, I've never heard his show, and don't plan to, but I like reading all the bashing he gets on this thread. His show sounds really lame and I'm glad people are making fun of it.

Unlike Mike, I do my job well so I don't anticipate losing it. Mike should lose his job because he doesn't care about doing it well. He just expects to phone it in and live off the good will he earned over the years on D&M.

All I know about Karla so far from this board is:

"Mike is 21 years older than her"

"unfortunately her Mom's a prostitute, her brother is in jail and she basically comes from a white trash broken home. I'd have to say Mike sort of saved her from her own miserable existence."

"she use to be a stripper at Crystal City Restaurant"

"she is battling a drug/alcohol problem"

"Mike's kids don't like her"

"Mike and her are engaged"

Sounds like anna nicole smith and howard marshall. No thanks on that hot mess.

Karla better get busy making all those high end purchases on Mike's dime. Once she realizes that her bigshot fiance is going to be out of work, I guarantee you that she latches on to some other sugar-daddy. Why else would she hang around this gorilla? And Mike thinks it's true love that will last until "she's pushing him around in a wheelchair." Perhaps a match made in heaven....

Only a radio show!? Why do we care? The D&M show was fantastic, a delight to listen to. Even with the 10 minute commercial breaks. The show was so vital, so creative, so fantastic on so many levels that to see this lazy fat load Mike piss it all away is just too much for us to take. No effort, no energy, just show up and collect a paycheck, Mike O'Meara killed something near and dear to all of us. The day I took 106.7 off my car radio preset was the last day I listened to this awful show. January 23 can't come soon enough.

Think when Don left Spring 2008 station was 13th, D&M show was 7th/8th.
Mike got a 60 day Arbitron diary roll over from Geronimo's swan song.
That rolled over until July, when he was rated with no moths of Don at all.
Even then, before the PPMs, he was nosediving in July/Aug/Sept before PPM.

It is without a doubt O'Meara's laziness that turned me off as well. He stated on his first day (his most energetic) he was going to work as hard as he did on the "old show".

I guess he is, and it shows.
Downfall of JFK pt one: Howard leaves, replaced by junkies
Downfall of JFK pt two: Don leaves, replaced by Mike

It shows in the results.
CBS is asking winning personalities (Minneapolis) to take 10% pay cuts....and they are doing WELL (compared to WJFK-fm)!
It can't be long before CBS pays off whatever they have to and blows the format up.

NICE JOB, MIKE O'MEARA

I don't listen to The Junkies very often, but I did today and heard something I hadn't before. The Junkies - the kings of ass-kissing - were trashing the station the way Don used to. And I don't think it was meant to generate ratings. It sounded like they think the station is teetering on the brink and it finally came out on the air.

The Junkies must realize the JFK is their only meal ticket. Nobody is going to hire them if JFK drops them. Not as a high-priced group, anyway.

If members of Warrant could end up working in a cubicle farm and stars of hit sitcoms end up at car washes and video stores, The Junkies are really one pink slip away from cleaning tables at the Hard Times they currently host events at.

Just think of how much money WJFK is wasting on the salaries of The Junkies, Big O and Dukes, and Mike O’Meara. It has to be at least a couple of million, and in return WJFK gets last place. WJFK needs to switch to a music format. Right off the bat they would save a couple million in paid salaries. I can tell you right now that the sales staff at WJFK would LOVE IT if the station changed to a music format. If I were a sales person, I would rather be trying to sell advertising on a 4th or 5th place music station than a LAST PLACE TALK STATION that has A-hole D.J’s who are too lazy to be entertaining. Time to make the switch WJFK.

I don't understand why every station in this town doesn't turn to music with a 20-something DJ making $50K a year. The stations are all crap. anyway. At least they can bring down their overhead. You don't think some 20-year-old with a big mouth wouldn't like making $50K as a DJ? The booze, girls, etc. Then, when he has done it for a few years and starts getting the ego of Kane or Elliot, you fire his ass for another 20-something.

I've mentioned before that I started out in radio. Even in the 80s, when high priced "talent" lost their jobs, often they would end up working at 7-11s or Williams-Sonoma. If The Junkies are all in their late 30s and all they have on their resumes is this show and working at Toys R Us, that is where they are going to end up. They may have college degrees, but they have no EXPERIENCE.

I kind of feel sorry for the Junkies. They are at least somewhat interesting to listen to in the morning. Their problem is is that they are too "local" and if they do get canned, it's unlikely that some other major market (other than perhaps Baltimore) would even consider hiring them. And certainly not at the salaries they are reaping now. I have to guess that each Junkie now makes over $200k. I live near Cakes and he has a nice house, brand new cars, a gaggle of kids, and his wife doesnt work. It's going to be difficult for all of them to transition to a 9-5 job like the rest of us and make the money that they're making now......

And has anyone checked out Peter Rosenberg's b/s bio at his gig in NY. He boasts that his show is creating a stir on the streets of NY and that some of his interviews have been viewed on Youtube millions of times. That coming from a dude who is relegated to a 5am-7am radio shift once or twice a week. Who the F listens to the radio at that hour??????? Gotta figure he's knocking down about $100/week for that gig.....

I make over $200K. In this area if you have a nice house, brand new cars and your wife doesn't work, odds are you are still massively in debt. Too much debt for a Toys R Us management salary to cover, that's for sure.

I saw that. He brags about having the hottest night time show. 5am to 7am does not qualify as a "night time" show in my mind. Though he is probably pulling higher ratings than the Ag Roundups and Gospel Hours he is going up against.

I don't listen either, but do you happen to know the date/segment on their podcast? This sounds like it would be compelling radio, at least.

On a related note, Big O and Dukes seem to be trying to be team players and putting a lot of the blame for the station's troubles on themselves and their apparently low ratings...but how much can WJFK expect from a mid-day show rowing upstream against the momentum of a dying format?

Look at all the fat that could be trimmed:

Joe answers phones for 4-5 callers a day = $$$$$$$$$$$$
Katie has to man the dump button = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Beth Ann lines up junk guests = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Buzz responds to instant messages all day = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Rob says a couple of words per show = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Mike does the show = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
oh yeah and the Buzz Babes and Events = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Plus health insurance, 401k, etc.

And all this money and effort for last place. Compare this to a music format.

Board Op for music = $$$$$
Music = free
Ratings - better than last

Ways the show could be better:

Fire Beth Anne-Her Rolodex of "stars" and these tedious, dull interviews are one of the worst parts of the show. They were the worst part of the Don and Mike Show, and (surprisingly) Mike has worse interviewing skills than Don.

Bring The Funny-If I hear Mike say "An inch deep and a mile wide" one more time, I'm going to throw up. Mike, I understand you want to blaze a different path, but going in the direction you're going in is going to lead you off of a cliff. There are times when I want to hear political talk. When I do, I tune in to a political station, or I watch CNN. When I tune in to your show (just like when I tuned in to D&M), I want to get away from all the hype. I just want to hear good, nonsensical comedy radio.

Less Buzz-Buzz was best when he had his time at the end of the show. We don't need a first, second, and final Buzz. Leave him to do the news at the end of the show, and the occasional "sexy call" during the show.

Bring Back Some Of The Old Games-The old D&M games weren't fantastic, but they were a damn lot better than the tedium that Robb and Mike come up with on their own.

Edgier!!!-There's a reason I don't listen to morning shows on "Lite Rock" stations, or morning shows that have the words "In The Morning" or "Breakfast Flakes" at the end of the DJ names. It's because they're boring, tedious, cookie cutter shows that wouldn't know edgy if it jumped up and bit them. That's what TMOS has become. It's become the kind of show that Don and Mike laughed at, and teased, and ragged on for 20 years. Maybe Mike never liked the edgy stuff (though he didn't seem to complain when he was cashing those big checks). The listeners did, however. That's why they're turning away in droves now.

That's kind of the point of a venue like this. Do you think I spew negativity to clients and employees at work? F-no.

Because I'm not being paid to put on a radio show. Mike is. If he can't get his shit together, he should be fired. Period.

That would be Spunky's job.

Obviously not, since you are taking us to task.

Anyone else get the feeling members of the O'Meara show cast might be popping in here occasionally to defend the show?

I've got a suggestion. Spend less time bitching and more time doing the things that made the show a success when Don was on. If you didn't pick up some things with Don over two decades, you are all complete idiots.

That rant was something. You can tell the wheels are coming off the show and that Mike knows what's coming down the pike.

As far as feeding his family, maybe if he didn't have 10 ex-wives he wouldn't have to worry so much about that part.

To those who don't understand the level of "scrutiny" this show is getting,

consider....

Mike O. took a show most of us had listened to and enjoyed for over 20 years and made it a total failure.

That's why there is so much animosity here towards Mike O.

HE took something we liked, and screwed it up.

Hence, the level of dis-satisfaction.

Ive been relegated to returning cell phone calls instead of listening to the MOS. There is absolutely nothing to listen to on "free" radio during the drive home.

I agree with limiting Buzz to one segment. He is so out of his comfort zone when he's asked to ad lib or provide un-scripted comment during the show. I think Mike was trying to be edgy when he told us that he had a stomach ailment as a result of his dietary supplements. I think that was a stab at the old-style humor, but with lame results.

Gone are the days of the e-gar sponsor shoutouts (everytime they farted on air, Don was to a promotional spot for e-gars). Now those were the days....

And who the hell is Rob Spewack?! Why is he in the number 2 spot? He's an fucking idiot. Don would hardly let him speak when he ran things. Remember when Spewack was co-host of that Bridal show on Saturdays? How long did that last? A month? Two months? Yeah, let's have THAT guy co-host a drive-time show in a top market.

"CBS last month dropped WBBM-FM 96.3 morning men Eddie Volkman and Joe Bohannon, despite contracts that run into next summer worth around $1.5 million to each man annually. Mike North, another of its $1.5 million morning men, was unable to reach agreement on a new deal at CBS' WSCR-FM 670.

"It turns out that music gets better ratings than we do with this new ratings system, and guess what's cheaper: the music," Dahl said."

O'Meara and The Junkies are toast.

This guy obviously hasn't read through each page of this forum as everyone has made suggestions to improve the show. When you think about it, the Mike O'Meara show was doomed from the start as all listeners naturally compare it to the Don and Mike show. Mike needed to go off the air for a period of time, clear out Rob-Bay, Buzz and any associations with the old show, then bring in younger funny sidekicks to keep the show current and start with a clean slate.

However, it's too late now! One thing for sure - this forum has been far more interesting to read than listening to Mike's show so I'll be sorry when the show actually gets cancelled.
