WTF! It doesn't even look American anymore! It looks more like a two door Honda Accord. So ugly. Despite all the many redesigns, it was always familiar and immediately recognizable, but I guess they've decided that's bad. :-(

That's the thing, Ford wants to move away from the familiar retro styling and focus on the new generation of car buyers that don't care about how the original Mustang looked.

Blessed are the murderous.

this is the eves concept which insiders at ford say is 90% of the new stangs body style. fords attempt to sell the stang world wide is costing it it's American heritage and image. it's hideous.

I own a 2007 Mustang and if the 2015 is going to look like that, I am getting a Camaro in 2015. That is ugly! It looks like a Taurus fornicated with a Civic and this is their resulting bastard offspring.

I think it's badass looking' so long as it's rear-wheel drive.

The Probe was piece of shit FWD box, nowhere near what a Mutang should be.

It may be "badass looking," but it doesn't look like a Mustang.

Yeah, I guess the retro styling wasn't gonna last forever. As long as Dodge doesn't fuck up the retro style Challenger, that's the coolest one of the bunch. I think the retro Camaro looks like shit with that big frowny face grill.

Personally I don't like these domestic "throwback" designs. Plus those are too damn big, look like ogres.

And that design has got to be concept, of course they will roll out a dumbed down version of the above.

It had better be kick-ass as far as performance otherwise it will end up being the Mustang III fail.

bump

http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/12/04/ford-mustang-2015-styling-chassis-engines/3820457/

The 2015 Mustang's underpinnings amount to an "all-new" platform, says Raj Nair, Ford's vice president in charge of global product development.

The original idea was to evolve the current chassis. But once Ford decided that the new car would have independent rear suspension (IRS) — a first for mainstream Mustang models. "We started having some trouble with the steering and proportion of the vehicle," Nair says. "We decided fairly late in development to widen the vehicle."

IRS improves handling, ride and steering precision, but is more costly and complicated than the solid rear axle that Mustangs have had since 1964.

The engine selection also didn't work out as planned. The intent was an EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder as the base engine and the V-8 as the up-level engine. But a less expensive V-6 was added to be the base, says chief engineer Dave Pericak. "We added the V-6 later in development, as a value item; Mustang's always had a value element," says Pericak.

Thus, the engine lineup will be:

• Base: 3.7-liter V-6, about 300 horsepower.

• Optional: 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder. Ford says it'll have at least 305 hp and significantly more torque than the V-6.

• Top-end: 5-liter V-8, rated "more than 420 hp," he says.

OP is a concept vehicle -- those never get built. you also know it won't be built because it has gull wing doors. something that is cool but doesn't fly when it comes to building a mass market vehicle.

what still sucks is that FORD dealerships will still remove those high performance tires and put on all weather tires like an asshole.

Spin, spin, spin.

You'd never know from this article that the 1999-2004 Mustang Cobras (SVT cars) all had IRS.

And there were more than a couple of those sold.

You still have high-performance all season tires. Why would you want summer only tires?

The article is quite correct, and it was worded that way for a reason. The SVT on that Fox platform did feature independent rear suspension, but SVTs are not mainstream Mustang models. The article is stating that even the base model and regular GT version will have independent rear suspension, truly a first for Mustang.

The OP is most definitely a concept vehicle. One that will most certainly never see mass production.

Damn, the 2015 does look pretty sleek. I like how the front end is real low and elongated, that's a nice change. I'm not a big fan of the headlights but they're not too bad. Brilliantly finished.

Much unlike the Corvette --- totally botched.

More grip in 90% of the weather around here. All season (even high performance) tend to have a bit silica (as I recall) making them harder.

Yes, I run summer tires all year round on the coupe. They are no good on ice but then again RWD sucks on ice anyway with my live axle.

The grill on the concept look like an aston martin a bit.

+1 on the IRS. This should've happened a long time ago...

-1000 on the styling. You know...it USED to be that the United States set the direction for the auto industry and the Japs simply imitated off of everything we did. Now, it's the U.S. imitating the Japs' lead. The new Corvette and Mustang both look like slope-designed/built cars. Sad...

Also, who is the customer that is buying the 2.3L Turbocharged model? It makes almost as much horsepower as the V6 and will likely outperform the V6 because it's much lighter. I'm sure Ford's trying to keep their CAFE numbers in line but, I just don't think they thought this thing through. There should be more performance separation between the 2.3L and the 3.7L...
