I still believe in ghosts, I don't care what you think.

I'm sure there's the possibility that an email got misrouted or something and made its way to the recipient late, or some other strange technical anomaly or coincidence, but fuck it. I think a ghost sent it.

When I was a kid, one of my friends died. A couple weeks after her death, I started getting missed calls on my cell phone from an unknown number. When I finally called them back, it was the dead girl's mother at their home number (which I never had or used up to that point). So yes, I believe her ghost called me.

If there are ghosts, then there are probably Paranormal Activity demons out there too.

Blessed are the murderous.

I believe in those too. If there are good ghosts and sentimental ghosts and friendly ghosts, it stands to reason there are asshole ghosts, too.

To believe in ghosts, you have to first explain what you think a ghost actually is.
When your heart stops, your brain stops blood flow to the brain and almost immediately begins decomposition. It's possible that low levels of electrical and neural activity can continue for a very short time after "death", but I don't see how it could possibly exit the brain or in any way transfer or manifest into any some sort of 4th dimension entity.

Ghosts are often "seen" wearing clothes or in some last moment horror condition, but why? And if I were a ghost, why would I perform ridiculous and mundane "tricks" on good friends instead of appearing face to face and having a more intimate conversation. Emailing someone and telling them to clean the attic seems absurd and pointless.

Why are people so afraid of ghosts? Do you know anyone that was ever physically injured by a ghost? Instead of running, I'd want to ask a shitload of questions, like WTF?

I would love to see a ghost, but I know I never will because they simple don't/can't exist. I love a good ghost story, but I've never heard a single one that couldn't be explained by rational thought.

Good point, Eesh. I forgot about being slimed by ghosts.

I know you're a hardcore atheist and this is a matter of faith. You're more of a "Schroedinger's cat is dead" kinda guy. I celebrate your ghost-free existence.

Sure, some sightings are delusions or light tricks or visual anomalies or whatever.

Who knows? Maybe the afterlife is like Beetlejuice where there's a handbook and a list of rules for the deceased. Like they're under some sort of gag order preventing them from being open and direct about the afterlife, but they can get away with the occasional email.

Eesh already beat me to the "I ain't afraid of no ghost." But I ain't afraid of no ghost, either.

They do exist and your face is stupid.

But seriously, how do you explain the post-mortem emails and my cell phone calls?

Mephisto,
I can't tell if you're serious or not about this, but in the off chance you are, I'll just say that I have absolutely no doubt in my mind I could explain the cell phone calls and emails. I would have to interview the people involved to understand exactly what happened, then put the pieces together and viola, and easy, rational answer.

The problem is most people jump straight to a supernatural explanation for strange occurrences, instead of a natural one first. People really want to believe in ghosts and the hereafter, because we feel it just has to be better than life here on Earth. It's not faith, it's hope.

Me being an atheist has nothing to do with my belief in ghosts. Ghosts are not religious in nature and most religions condemn anyone other that their god(s) becoming a ghost. Heaven/Hell are not fill with ghosts, supposedly, they're not even our own personalities once we get there. Ghosts (in the Hollywood style) are people that never made it to Heaven or Hell and just muck about in Limbo.

I don't doubt the people see or hear strange shit, I have too, but I always look first to a real answer, not a Hollywood answer.

'Phone calls from the dead' is an old and well documented paranormal phenomenon. http://www.virginiaghosts.com/phone_calls.php

There's a lot of them on YouTube, when answering machines picked up the call.

For this story, the part about the broken ankle is pretty odd. However, there are multiple sites that will send out e-mails after you die. For example:

http://www.youdeparted.com/
http://www.deathswitch.com/
https://passmywill.com/
http://www.deadmansswitch.net/

Anyone who feels pretty sure they can prove ANY paranormal activity can easily win 1 million dollars from the James Randi Foundation.

At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. All tests are designed with the participation and approval of the applicant. In most cases, the applicant will be asked to perform a relatively simple preliminary test of the claim, which if successful, will be followed by the formal test. Preliminary tests are usually conducted by associates of the JREF at the site where the applicant lives. Upon success in the preliminary testing process, the "applicant" becomes a "claimant."

To date, no one has passed the preliminary tests.

All good, but if you can prove something it's no longer supernatural. You're trying to use the rules of nature to prove something that is, by definition, beyond nature. It's like being in the Matrix and trying to guess that you're actually a comatose body in a pod somewhere when all your senses tell you you're walking down a street in New York. You have no evidence to support your pod theory, because in the reality being piped into your brain those pods don't even exist. So there may in fact be a god or a flying spaghetti monster or whatever, but no matter how convinced you are or aren't of its existence you can't prove it using the tools available.

So just do what I do. Mock it and drink beer.

No, you're trying to use the rules of nature to prove that there is nothing beyond nature. Anything that is beyond nature can have no effect on the natural world, it's beyond nature.

Most people that believe in such things are really suggesting that unusual things, such as paranormal activity, remote viewing, ghosts, etc... are NOT supernatural and that anyone open enough to the idea is capable of experiencing them. Again, that's not faith, it's just hope.

So the article finds a great mystery with these emails, but then goes on to explain that there are services that "let you write email drafts that will be sent to a group of preselected recipients after your death". And yet the supernatural explanation seems more plausible?

per the Bible:

All are dead in christ sleeping until the messiah returns.

So with the above know this means what you see are not ghosts but demons.

Angels do not appear as such and only like to be entertained when you do something good.

So, was the ghost of Solomon (as summoned by the witch per King David's request) a demon, too?

John Stalvern waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demons in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Cernel Joson were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
John was a space marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of the UAC he knew there were demons.
"This is Joson" the radio crackered. "You must fight the demons!"
So John gotted his palsma rifle and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the demons
"I will shoot at him" said the cyberdemon and he fired the rocket missiles. John plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the demons" he shouted
The radio said "No, John. You are the demons"
And then John was a zombie.

Numbers has a point, a ghost is (supposedly) metaphysical, spirit. Why do photos of supposed ghost always show them in cloths, materialistical. If in fact they were of a spirit nature they should be naked. And definitly without spectacles. I always wondered how something like a ghost could even appear in a form, if it was a form it should be a cloud and certainly could not speak. Makes little sense.

Not in as far as being psychotic where hearing voices is a sign of being bi polar

Stress can be a factor as well that promotes phantom sounds
True demon posession is beyond the psychological and a demonwould rather fuk with
You via mother nature

I think you watched a "Twilight Zone" episode about the kid and the phone when you were small and that lodged in your subconscience, you believed something that youactually saw as a kid and couldn't deciphere properly, mistaking it for reality.
